A Former Police Officer Who Died And Get A Second Life!-Chapter 138: The Baby Inside
A small smile appeared on Joa’s face as he watched the peaceful sight.
However, when he looked toward the bed, Qiong Xing was still lying there unchanged.
"He hasn’t changed..."
His face seemed slightly better than before, but his eyes remained closed.
Leander and Elias whose exhausted as well were still where they had been.
They resting their heads on the bed as if asleep.
"Mama?"
Feeling disappointed at Qiong Xing’s unchanged state Joa tried to stand up, but Cari suddenly opened his eyes with a snap and startling him.
Before Joa could ask what was wrong, Cari struggled in his arms and insisting to be put down.
Without knowing what was happening, Joa let him go and Cari immediately ran toward the bed where Qiong Xing was sleeping.
"Cari? What’s wrong..."
"Mama, Mama,"
Cari’s urgent voice as if trying to wake Qiong Xing made Joa panic.
He tried to stop him, but Cari shook his head and resisted violently.
"Cari, let him rest now—"
"No! Mama doesn’t want it to hurt!"
"Huh? Wait... earlier, he tried to say something too. He said ’just a little more.’ What does that mean?"
Normally, Cari would be energetic and playful, but when he had been watching Qiong Xing being carried and sleeping, he had been calm as if he understood exactly why this had happened.
"Mama says it doesn’t hurt anymore. He’s saying sorry. Good boy, good boy," Cari said as he gently stroked Qiong Xing’s body.
Seeing Cari like this, Joa was surprised, his knees weak with shock.
"...I see... so that’s what’s going on..."
Now that he understood the reason, Joa no longer tried to stop Cari from waking Qiong Xing.
Watching the boy care for him, Joa’s tense eyelids relaxed and relief washing over him.
He had feared Qiong Xing might never wake again, so when those eyes finally opened and looked at them, he felt like crying from joy.
"Joa... Cari too... good morning?"
Qiong Xing’s awkward greeting made Joa smile.
Leander and Elias who were likely awakened by the voice hurriedly reached for him.
"It seems I caused everyone a lot of worry. I’m truly sorry. From now on, I’ll be careful about managing my health," Qiong Xing said softly.
"Please, don’t push yourself too hard,"
"I can’t live if Qiong Xing isn’t here,"
Leander and Elias who were on the verge of tears hugged Qiong Xing tightly. Then, as he reaching out his hands toward Joa, Qiong Xing invited him to join as well.
Qiong Xing hold Joa’s outstretched hands with joy.
He could feel the steady thump of his heart through the warmth of the hug and it filled him with relief.
"I’m really glad you’re safe. From now on, please be more careful. After all, there’s a new life inside you now," Joa said firmly.
"Huh?"
"W-what?"
The three of them immediately froze with their mouths open in surprise.
Joa then turned his gaze toward Cari and prompting the boy to explain.
"Sorry... Mama, I’m sorry for the hurting... sorry," Cari said softly while gently stroking Qiong Xing’s stomach.
"..."
Joa also surprised when he know what had happened and felt a mix of shock and relief.
Seeing Cari’s small hands on Qiong Xing’s belly reassured him that it wasn’t some strange illness.
"Are you kidding... a baby? Really?"
Still in disbelief, Joa placed his own hand over Cari’s hand and Qiong Xing looked down at the boy as if confirming the truth.
"So... when you said because you’re a big brother before... you meant the child in my stomach is your little brother?"
"Yes. Little brother said sorry because he make Mama in pain, so Cari patted him to make it better," Qiong Xing explained gently.
Although no one knew how Cari could understand, it seemed the child had felt the baby in Qiong Xing’s belly crying because he had been causing him pain and was comforting it.
The three adults remained stunned and Joa gently placed his hand on Qiong Xing’s stomach as well.
The belly wasn’t showing yet, but knowing a child of his own blood or at least a child from their family line was inside brought a unique happiness even if it wasn’t technically his.
"You’ve been in poor health for a while. Maybe your body was changing internally. Even today, perhaps it only stabilized and this is the aftermath," Joa suggested.
How his body transformed was unknown, but thinking about how Cari had acted to protect his unborn sibling made sense of it all.
"This is the first time I’ve seen a male’s pregnancy like this too. I can’t say for sure, but judging from Cari’s reaction, the chance is pretty high," Joa added.
"So... so it’s true... I have a baby... Elias," Qiong Xing whispered as be reaching out his hands toward the still silent Elias.
Elias who were unable to hold back hugged Qiong Xing tightly and tears began to spilling down his face.
"Thank you... thank you, Qiong Xing. Truly, thank you. I’ve never been this happy," Elias said as his voice choked with emotion.
"I’m happy too. A new family member is coming to our family, so do your best, Papa,"
"Haha, yes. Your Papa would do his best for our family," Qiong Xing said with a small laugh.
They then laughed and sharing a moment of relief and joy together.
Leander who had been quiet until now grabbed Elias and hugged him tightly.
"Even if it’s Elias’s child, it’s also Qiong Xing’s child and since I’m Qiong Xing’s mate too, so I’m also a Papa for this kid!" Leander exclaimed.
"Haha... yes, yes, that’s right. Leander is a Papa too. Let’s all work together. Of course, Joa, I’ll counting on you to discipline this child as well," Qiong Xing added with a smile.
"Wait, what!? Me!?"
They shared a knowing look and silently agreeing.
Not to mention that they were already becoming hopelessly doting fathers and each of them ready to spoil their child completely.
From that point on, Qiong Xing’s life changed quite a lot.
