A Former Police Officer Who Died And Get A Second Life!-Chapter 148: A Small Request
Lunios immediately hugged him carefully, though he was clearly trying not to press against his stomach too much.
"What’s wrong?" Qiong Xing asked kindly. "The reason I can feel this happy right now is thanks to both of you. So if something is bothering you, please tell me. If there’s anything I can do, I’ll help."
"Uuugh..." Lunios groaned softly.
Even though he made that sound, he still didn’t say anything.
Qiong Xing looked toward Solinos for help.
But Solinos didn’t even try to hide his exasperated expression.
Though in truth, his gaze wasn’t directed at Qiong Xing.
He was staring at Lunios sitting on Qiong Xing’s lap.
"You can just ignore that idiot," Solinos said with a sigh. "He simply doesn’t like the idea of someone else taking you away. Now then, how long are you going to cling to him? Stop acting like a child and get off already!"
"Nooo—ugh!"
Since Lunios refused to let go, Solinos seemed to decide to use force.
He immediately grabbed the back of Lunios’s collar and lifted him up.
The so-called God suddenly let out a strange croaking sound like a frog.
Seeing that things might go too far, Qiong Xing quickly stopped Solinos.
After that, the three of them calmly shared the snacks that had been prepared.
They were all foods Qiong Xing had once believed he would never be able to taste again, so he felt truly happy.
More than anything, he felt deep gratitude toward Solinos for preparing them.
"This is delicious," Qiong Xing said with a pleased smile. "By the way, I haven’t seen any soy sauce in this world. Does it not exist here?"
Of course, he had no idea how to make soy sauce himself, so he couldn’t recreate it.
It was a seasoning that had been completely normal in his previous life and now he missed it very much.
"Well... you could say it exists," Solinos replied. "But the place where it can be found is a bit far from where you live. It comes from a country in the north. However... there is currently some trouble happening within that country. It’s quite dangerous right now, so I would prefer it if you stayed away from there."
"Trouble?" Qiong Xing asked.
When he looked at Solinos, it seemed Solinos understood the question immediately.
So, he explained briefly, "It’s a succession dispute."
If the matter was serious enough to shake a country, then it must involve the royal family.
Since Qiong Xing had nothing to do with such matters, he decided it would be best to stay far away from it.
"And also... um... this might be a strange thing to ask the two of you..." Qiong Xing said hesitantly. "But do you know how long a pregnancy usually lasts? If it’s too long... then it might overlap with Leander and the others’ mating season."
Elias seemed relatively calm at the moment.
But when it came to Leander, there was almost nothing that could stop him once his instincts took over.
Of course, it wasn’t that intimacy would be completely forbidden, but Leander’s intensity made Qiong Xing worry about the baby inside his stomach.
Even though he knew that the two Gods were actually far older than he was, however, their youthful appearance made Qiong Xing hesitate slightly.
He wondered if it was really appropriate to ask such a question to someone who looked like a child.
"Well," Solinos began thoughtfully, "if the partner is human, then the pregnancy period is not very different from what it was when you lived on Earth. However, if the partner is a beastman, things are slightly different. You probably already know this, but beastmen have mating seasons. Depending on the type of beast, those seasons can come quite frequently. To balance that, beastman pregnancies are much shorter compared to humans."
For humans, the pregnancy usually lasted about ten months.
But for beastmen, the pregnancy could be as short as six months.
Humans usually give birth after the baby has developed to a certain stage.
But beastmen can grow very large depending on their species.
Because of that, their babies are born smaller and then grow quickly afterward.
"Either way," Solinos continued, "if the mating season overlaps with the pregnancy, then it will simply have to be endured. But if the father of the child is one of them, it won’t be a serious problem. Once a child already exists, their instinct to produce offspring becomes weaker. At most... it will just feel like a bit of restlessness."
Then the problem is Leander, Qiong Xing thought.
"So Leander is the real problem," Qiong Xing said quietly. "Do you think he’ll be able to endure it?"
"Nope. Impossible."
"Definitely impossible," the two answered at the same time.
Just as Qiong Xing expected.
He decided not to question why the two of them seemed to know Leander so well.
Still, the idea of forcing Leander to endure his painful and intense mating season made Qiong Xing feel a little sorry for him.
However, when he thought about the baby inside his stomach, he knew he could not simply ignore the issue.
"...Qiong Xing," Lunios on his lap suddenly said softly.
Qiong Xing noticed that Lunios was looking embarrassed.
Lunios avoided eye contact and nervously grabbed the edge of Qiong Xing’s clothes.
When Qiong Xing asked what was wrong, Lunios said that he had a request.
After hearing what the request was, Qiong Xing could only smile with pure happiness.
That day, something unusual happened.
It had been Elias’s suggestion and because of it they had come deep into the forest.
The reason was simple.
They had come to gather a certain herb that could slightly suppress Leande’s mating season.
Qiong Xing had suggested bringing Cari and Mayo along as well.
However, for some reason Cari refused to go and Mayo decided to stay behind with him.
Qiong Xing was shocked and thought sadly that maybe this was what people called a child becoming independent from their parents.
