A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 134: Coming to Her Rescue for the First Time
If Caden Chandler had said these words to Vivian Quincy when she first returned to Crestfall, she would have done everything in her power to get a paternity test for Jasper Ford and Beanie.
But now, she had already personally obtained two paternity test results.
One was between Beanie and Jeremy King, and the other was between Beanie and Laura King. With both reports confirming a biological relationship, what else could Vivian Quincy possibly hope for?
Whoever’s child Beanie was, it couldn’t be Jasper Ford’s.
Vivian Quincy said, "All good-looking people look alike."
"Not at all," Caden Chandler retorted. "Someone as handsome as the President is one in a hundred thousand."
After a pause, Caden Chandler continued, "I really think Beanie and the President look incredibly alike."
"Mm, I think so too." Vivian Quincy didn’t want to argue with Caden Chandler over something so minor, so she just agreed with whatever he said.
But Caden Chandler got carried away, going so far as to ask Vivian Quincy if she wanted to get a paternity test done for Beanie and Jasper Ford.
Vivian Quincy looked at Caden Chandler, her expression unreadably calm.
It was rare for Caden Chandler to be so gossipy, but he pressed on, "So, would you?"
"If you have money to burn, you go right ahead. I don’t have any, anyway." Her tone was completely indifferent, betraying her complete lack of expectations for Jasper Ford.
Caden Chandler was puzzled. Wasn’t this a good thing? Why did Vivian Quincy seem so unenthusiastic?
After mulling it over, he decided to drop it.
Caden Chandler went back to his work dutifully, and Vivian Quincy was also extremely busy. Beanie was the only one in the entire company with time to kill, and after wandering around for a while, he ended up falling asleep in Jasper Ford’s private lounge.
When Jasper Ford returned from the conference room, Beanie was still asleep. His clothes had ridden up, revealing his little belly. Vivian Quincy, busy with her work outside, was oblivious to the situation.
’What an incompetent, awful woman.’ Her own son didn’t even have a blanket, yet Vivian Quincy hadn’t bothered to come and check on him.
He carefully pulled over the nearby silk quilt, preparing to cover Beanie.
The little guy was a restless sleeper. He kicked the quilt off with one foot, and the clothes Jasper Ford had just straightened for him rode up again, revealing a chubby tummy and that distinct birthmark.
A birthmark identical to Wanda Quincy’s.
Jasper Ford’s mood suddenly soured.
He had investigated Wanda Quincy and Beanie Quincy; they weren’t related by blood. But if they really had no connection at all, why did they have the same birthmark in the exact same spot?
It was far too much of a coincidence.
But if Beanie really was Wanda Quincy’s son, when could she have given birth to him?
Over the past six years, Jasper Ford had watched Wanda Quincy mature right before his eyes. He knew very well whether she had been pregnant or had a child.
The tightness and shyness from that night, along with that unbroken barrier, convinced Jasper Ford that the girl was pure and innocent, untouched by the world. It was impossible that she had given birth before.
The whole affair was a lingering mystery in Jasper Ford’s mind; the more he investigated, the less he seemed to find.
Jasper Ford could clearly feel that someone had interfered. It was possible they had destroyed all the evidence many years ago, which was why Caden Chandler was hitting dead ends now—the trail had gone cold.
But no matter what, Jasper Ford always felt a pleasant sense of ease around Beanie, even though the little guy often bad-mouthed him.
"President Ford, Miss Quincy is here." Suddenly, a knock came from outside the door, followed by Caden Chandler’s voice.
Jasper Ford said, "What is she doing here?"
"She didn’t come alone. President Landon is with her," Caden Chandler replied.
Jasper Ford then remembered his business collaboration with Justin Landon. To help Wanda Quincy’s company turn a profit, he had also looped in Quincy Enterprises as a form of support for her.
"Let them in." Not long after Jasper Ford spoke, Wanda Quincy and Justin Landon came in.
The sharp-eyed Wanda Quincy noticed someone was in Jasper Ford’s lounge. Her mind immediately jumped to Vivian Quincy, terrified that Vivian had taken advantage of her absence to seduce Jasper Ford and climb into his bed.
"President Ford, here are the..." Suddenly, Vivian Quincy walked in from outside, her voice stopping abruptly when she saw Wanda Quincy.
Wanda Quincy raised an eyebrow in surprise, her gaze shifting away from the lounge.
Justin Landon sized up Vivian Quincy with interest and said, "I’d heard President Ford hired an exceptionally beautiful assistant. Now that I see for myself, you are indeed stunning."
Hearing this, Wanda Quincy said with displeasure, "Are you implying I’m not attractive, President Landon?"
"President Quincy, you jest. You’re beautiful too, just a different kind of beautiful," Justin Landon explained. "Your beauty complements President Ford’s perfectly. You two are a match made in heaven."
It was obvious flattery, but it was exactly what Wanda Quincy loved to hear. The anger on her face softened as she said to Vivian Quincy, "Just leave the documents and get out."
She spoke with a commanding tone, putting on the airs of the boss’s wife.
Vivian Quincy ignored Wanda Quincy and said to Jasper Ford, "This is the document from YG Company. It needs the President’s immediate signature."
"Didn’t you hear me? I told you to get out!" Wanda Quincy scolded, snatching the file from Vivian Quincy’s hand, clearly not intending to give her another chance to speak.
Justin Landon gave Wanda Quincy a surprised glance, then his gaze fell on Vivian Quincy, wondering how the little assistant would react.
If Justin Landon’s guess was correct, the little assistant would probably leave feeling aggrieved. After all, Wanda Quincy’s possessiveness and need for control were too strong; she never showed a pleasant face to any woman who got close to Jasper Ford.
But to Justin Landon’s utter astonishment, Jasper Ford actually walked over, expressionlessly pulled the file from Wanda Quincy’s hand, took a pen, flipped to the last page, and with a few fluid strokes, he scrawled his powerful signature. "Take it," he said to Vivian Quincy.
Vivian Quincy took it and left.
Wanda Quincy’s expression was incredibly foul.
On the surface, Justin Landon showed no reaction, but inwardly he was staggered. He could see that Jasper Ford was coming to the little assistant’s rescue!
Justin Landon had known Jasper Ford for so many years, and this was the first time he had ever seen Jasper Ford come to a woman’s rescue!
Losing all interest in work, Justin Landon was now focused on digging up gossip about Jasper Ford and his assistant. He deliberately sent Wanda Quincy away on an errand and, once she was out of earshot, said, "I didn’t see that wrong, did I? What’s going on between you and that little assistant?"
Jasper Ford asked coldly, "What are you trying to say?"
"You’ve been a monk for six whole years, not even bothering to touch Wanda Quincy’s hand, and now you’re protecting that little assistant!" Justin Landon’s voice, warm and pleasant, was laced with insinuation.
Jasper Ford said, "And which eye did you see that with?"
Justin Landon smirked knowingly. "Don’t even try to deny it. Given Wanda Quincy’s arrogance, she’s bullied your female staff more than a few times. I’ve visited you enough to see her tear into someone on more than one occasion. And the number of times you’ve intervened? Zero."
’In a situation like that, the old Jasper Ford would have just let Wanda Quincy have her way, not stepped in to save Vivian Quincy from the embarrassment!’
The news that Jasper Ford had suddenly hired a female assistant had spread long ago, as had the rampant rumors that the two of them were having an affair. Justin Landon hadn’t believed a word of it, but now...
Justin Landon felt he needed to get to know Jasper Ford all over again!
