Chapter 19: Chapter 19: President, She Got Together with Your Nephew

Caden Chandler had noticed his boss acting strangely lately. But what was even stranger was that Jasper Ford, the CEO, had actually ordered him—his executive assistant—to go to the warehouse and keep an eye on Vivian Quincy!

Even though they all knew Vivian Quincy was associated with Jeremy King from a rival company, Jeremy King had already fled the province. ’There’s no need to watch Vivian so closely, is there?’

"President, Vivian Quincy has been behaving herself lately. She hasn’t done anything to harm the company," Caden Chandler couldn’t help but say.

Jasper Ford shot him a cold glare.

Caden Chandler’s words caught in his throat. He quickly amended, "I’ll go monitor Vivian Quincy right away! I’ll report to you the second I notice anything, President! I swear I’ll find some dirt on that wicked woman so you can deal with her as you see fit!"

"Go on," Jasper Ford nodded curtly.

Caden Chandler inwardly thought: ’Unbelievable!’

He had thought Jasper Ford would at least try to persuade him to stay. After all, he was the president’s most capable and efficient assistant; sending him to monitor a new employee was highly inappropriate. But Jasper Ford was so resolute that Caden felt a pang of dejection, as if his happiness had been snatched away. He obediently withdrew.

’Vivian Quincy, I’ll be watching you like a hawk!’

’And then I’ll let the President teach you a harsh lesson!’

But after a full day of observation, Caden Chandler hadn’t found anything amiss. As he was getting ready to leave for the day, he spotted Hayden Kaye at their company, apparently waiting for someone.

Out of politeness, Caden Chandler greeted him. "Master Kaye, you’re out of the hospital already?"

"Yes, I’m pretty much recovered," Hayden Kaye replied with a smile and a nod.

Caden Chandler was surprised to see that Hayden Kaye was holding a bouquet of flowers—a lovely bunch of daisies, cute and cheerful.

Caden was rather astonished. "Master Kaye, you bought flowers? Do you have a girl you like? Why come to our company? This department... I think everyone here is a bit on the older side..."

’When did Master Kaye’s taste get so... unique?’

Caden Chandler found it odd.

Hayden Kaye smiled and said, "She was my classmate, and she works in this department. Don’t tell anyone about this, okay?"

Hayden was worried word would get back to his parents. He lowered his voice, reminding Caden that he didn’t want his family to hear anything before he had successfully won Vivian Quincy over.

Caden Chandler was surprised it was true. He was a bit baffled.

Hayden Kaye was the sole heir of the Kaye Family, destined to inherit their entire business empire. He was a bona fide, wealthy second-generation heir. He could have his pick of socialites, so how did he end up falling for a blue-collar worker from their factory?

"Master Kaye, can you tell me who the girl is? I happen to know everyone in the company, so I have a good sense of their character. If she’s not a good person, I can have the President introduce you to some better options. Our company has no shortage of beautiful, capable women."

Hayden Kaye waved his hand, a gentle smile on his face. "That won’t be necessary. We’ve known each other since we were kids. I trust her. I know the rules at Ninth Uncle’s company, so I would never disrupt his employees during work hours. And please don’t tell Ninth Uncle the girl I like works here. I don’t want to put him in an awkward position."

’He just wanted to have a quiet romance and win Vivian Quincy back!’

Just then, Vivian Quincy walked out, having changed her clothes. Hayden Kaye immediately went up to her. "Vivian, these are for you."

"Why are you here again? And with such a huge bouquet," Vivian said, a little embarrassed by the large arrangement.

’If I didn’t know Vivian wouldn’t accept expensive gifts,’ Hayden thought, ’I’d be giving her a house and a car!’

The young man gently pressed the flowers into her hands. "I already bought them, so you have to take them. You mentioned this afternoon that you needed to buy a gift to visit an elderly person. I bought it for you already. It’s in the car. Come on, I’ll give you a ride!"

Standing to the side, completely ignored, Caden Chandler stared at the two of them, dumbstruck. His jaw nearly hit the floor!

"Uh, um, you two know each other?" Caden Chandler, who had been sent by the President to surveil her, finally broke. He pressed on, "Master Kaye, the girl you’re pursuing... it couldn’t be her, could it?"

Caden Chandler’s expression was a sight to behold, like he’d just swallowed a fly. When he saw Hayden Kaye nod in confirmation, he nearly fainted on the spot.

Caden Chandler wanted to cry. He and the President had been on high alert, watching Vivian Quincy’s every move, terrified she would do something to harm the company. After a few days of observation, he thought she had finally settled down. He never expected she would go and seduce the President’s own nephew!

’If the President finds out about this, he’ll be furious!’

Caden Chandler pulled Hayden Kaye aside, looking like he was about to cry. "My dear young master, you could pursue anyone. Why on earth would you go after Vivian Quincy?"

"I’m pursuing her because I like her. Is there a problem with that?" Hayden Kaye sensed Caden Chandler’s hostility toward Vivian and was displeased.

Caden said, "Yes, there is a problem! Listen to me, find another girl. You absolutely cannot get involved with this woman. She’s not as simple as she looks!"

Hayden’s face darkened as he warned Caden in a grim tone, "I won’t allow you to speak about Vivian that way."

"No, Master Kaye, I’m just looking out for you! You have to listen to me about this..."

Before he could finish, Hayden Kaye cut him off and walked away, going after Vivian, who had slipped away at some point.

How could Caden Chandler just stand by and watch the President’s nephew get snatched away by Vivian Quincy? Without a second thought, he ran after them!

By the time he reached the company’s main entrance, Hayden was gone, and there was no sign of Vivian either. Not knowing where to even begin looking, Caden could only go upstairs to report to Jasper Ford.

Sensing Caden’s unnatural expression, the perceptive Jasper Ford fixed his sharp gaze on him. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Caden mumbled, shaking his head guiltily. He didn’t dare say it outright.

The elegant fingers with which Jasper Ford held his pen stilled. He repeated languidly, "Speak."

That single word was enough to make Caden Chandler’s knees go weak. Realizing Jasper Ford already suspected something, he knew he couldn’t hide what happened with Hayden Kaye any longer. His voice was small. "A moment ago... Master Kaye was here."

Upon hearing Hayden’s name, the sharp edge in Jasper’s expression softened slightly. He gave a faint grunt of acknowledgment, his hand elegantly signing his name on the contract with a few powerful strokes. "Why didn’t he come see me?"

"Master Kaye wasn’t here to see you, President." After a pause, Caden wiped a bead of cold sweat from his brow. "He came to see Vivian Quincy."

The black fountain pen clattered onto the desk. Jasper Ford propped himself up with his long fingers and rose, looming over Caden Chandler like a king. His voice was dangerous. "Who?"

"Vivian Quincy." The two simple words took all of Caden’s strength. The immense pressure from his boss was suffocating him. "President, I don’t know when they got together. I already warned Master Kaye, but he wouldn’t listen. He got angry as soon as I said a few bad things about her. I don’t know what to do... Who knew that Vivian Quincy was so skilled, getting together with Master Kaye without making a sound!"

A vein throbbed on Jasper Ford’s handsome forehead, but his chiseled features betrayed no emotion.

In silence, he snapped the uncapped fountain pen in two. Jasper Ford sneered. "Excellent."

Caden Chandler was so scared his legs trembled. His intuition told him Vivian Quincy was finished.
