A Husband For Killer Mom-Chapter 238 - Elliot Is Smart
238 Ch. 238 Elliot Is Smart
The next day, Anxia agreed to have breakfast in the dining room for the first time. During this time, she refused to come into the dining room and asked someone to bring her meal to her room.
But now that she met Elliot, her son, Anxia, agreed to dine together and was satisfied when she saw the boy smile at her as he greeted her.
“Mama, you are here. Grandma lied to me and said you wouldn’t come.”
Loraine pursed her lips at her grandson while pretending to feel guilty. “Don’t blame me. Your mother has never wanted to eat here since she came here. How would I know if she had a change of heart?”
Anxia only gave a faint smile watching their interaction. She could see Loraine could act like an average grandmother to Elliot. The saying that an elder would love their grandchildren more than their kids were accurate.
“Good morning.” greeted Anxia with a flat tone and an indifferent expression. But she gave her son a gentle smile as Elliot looked at her with his galactic eyes.
“Good morning, ma. Are you sleeping well?”
“I feel lonely. Maybe I won’t be lonely if you sleep with me tonight.”
“Can I?” asked Elliot enthusiastically, while Loraine didn’t like the idea.
.....
“No, Elliott. You’re a big boy now. It’s time for you to learn to be independent and not rely on your mother.”
Elliot immediately fell silent and continued his breakfast obediently.
“I don’t mind my son relying on me,” stated Anxia, about to protest her mother forbidding her son to sleep with her.
“You don’t, but I do.”
“Is there something you’re hiding from me?”
Loraine Shu decided to keep her mouth shut rather than speak the wrong way and make her daughter choose to rebel and fight against her.
On the other hand, Elliot, who looked clueless and continued eating in silence, listened intently to the conversation between the two adults.
In contrast to Lori, who often felt bored and avoided tense situations among adults, Elliot felt interested and wanted to listen to their conversations because he had one goal.
Elliot wants to find a way out of here with grandpa and Jamie. He loved his grandmother, who had cared for him all this time, but he knew this older woman didn’t genuinely care about him. He knew which one loved him genuinely and was not.
Not only that… the gleam of his grandmother’s eyes looking at his grandfather also looked different. His grandmother looked at his grandfather as if she undervalued the helpless man, while Aunt Jamie looked at his grandfather with love and would panic the first time something terrible happened to him.
He didn’t care whether Loraine Shu was his grandmother, but he wanted to see Aunt Jamie relieved of her misery in this place. And if that good woman was happy with his grandfather, he was willing to separate her grandfather from his grandmother just so that Aunt Jamie could be with him.
After thinking all of this, Elliot was, in the end, still a child, and his grandmother ruled all of his life. Hence, Elliot pretended to do as his grandmother told him to do.
Elliot couldn’t wait to grow up to save Jamie and leave this place safely. That’s why he didn’t mind following his grandmother whenever Loraine invited him out. He wanted to know who his grandmother had met and what he could use against her someday.
Right now, Elliot was playing the role of a kind, obedient, and sweet grandson, but actually… God knows how many lies he has created to make his grandmother feel satisfied with him.
At first, he was happy to see his mother come here, but at the same time, he also felt sad and disappointed. Elliot wished his mother wasn’t involved in whatever his grandmother had secretly planned, so he was worried that his mother would be in as much pain as her aunt Jamie.
He also felt disappointed because he thought that his mother was not much different from his grandmother. 𝒇𝑟e𝗲𝚠𝚎𝐛𝗻𝐨νel. 𝒄om
But after talking all day with his mother, Elliot realized that Anxia truly did care for him and would do anything to get closer to him.
Even so, Elliot couldn’t trust his mother completely. Even though he wanted to ask his mother for help to get Jamie and his grandfather out of this place, Elliot never let his heart desire out.
He was afraid his mother would side with his grandmother, and he would not be able to help Aunt Jamie. Moreover, Anxia confessed that she disliked Jamie without hiding her disgusted feeling.
But when his mother asked a question that could make his grandmother unable to answer, Elliot’s hopes soared a little, and he prayed that his mother would not be on the same side as his grandmother.
“What else can I hide? All the things that I have hidden from you, you already know. I have nothing to hide anymore.”
Elliot glanced at his mother, who was looking at his grandmother suspiciously. He almost choked on his food the next second when Anxia glanced at him suddenly.
“...” Somehow, Anxia felt that Elliot wasn’t as innocent as he looked? For some reason, she felt the boy was watching her and Loraine, sitting at the dining table and listening intently to their conversation.
Could it be... Elliot is as smart as Lori?
“Elliot,”
Elliot gasped when he heard his mother call his name. At first glance, his eyes showed concern, but then it was replaced with a look of concern and curiosity about what her mother would say.
Loraine didn’t notice the change in the light in Elliot’s eyes, but Anxia was well aware of it, making her smile crookedly inside.
“Yes, mama?”
“Besides English and Chinese, do you speak any other languages?”
“I can speak Spanish and Africa.”
“Africa? Who taught you to speak a foreign language?”
“Sister Mei Yin.”
Mei Yin?
“I often send Mei Yin abroad, so she knows many languages, and she taught it to Yang’er every free moment. Isn’t my grandson a genius? He can master more than three languages ??even though he is still very young.”
“He’s pretty smart,” Anxia commented while smiling gently at Elliot and noticing that the boy wasn’t too impressed by his grandmother’s compliments.
Hmm... very interesting. Anxia became eager to become more intimate with her son.
