A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 290: HIS NEWS MEANT NOTHING
Chapter 290: HIS NEWS MEANT NOTHING
It took Bairone seven years to finally place himself as the king of the Great Lunar kingdom. It was a long and gruesome civil war and if it were not for the support from the lycan’s treasures that allowed him to buy more and more men as his force, he wouldn’t have made it this far.
In the process, Bairone lost his half brother, Ralph, who was also his right hand man.
However, that was not the end of that, because he aimed to rule the whole continent, which left him to deal with Celeste kingdom and Wofldale kingdom.
Into five years of war, after the last lycan disappeared into thin air, the two kingdoms merged into one and it was called as Greatwolf kingdom, with Rose as the queen and Logan as the king.
Once the Great Lunar kingdom had fallen, it was a war between humans and shifter. Even though, some of the shifters still stayed put in Great Lunar kingdom.
There was nothing there, but war, suffering and dead bodies. Famine spread out so fast once Bairone managed to cut off the food supplies for Greatwolf kingdom, which weakened them.
The distribution of drugs added to their misery.
However, the drugs were a double edge sword for Bairone, since the shifters, though they were addicted to it, they were more immune, Bairone’s men, as humans couldn’t stand for that long.
Bairone tried to ban the drug in his kingdom, but it was to no avail. How could you take away their addiction and restrain them from getting their doze when they used to get it easily? It caused a new problem within his rank.
Surprisingly, Rose managed to defend her kingdom for eight years before all of the shifters were slaughtered or thrown into slaves.
When the palace crumbled and Bairone’s men managed to breach their defense, Rose locked herself and her two little children inside the burned palace, once she heard the king and the kingdom had fallen.
It took Bairone fifteen years in total to put himself as the sole ruler of this continent, but what was left for him was only a ruined kingdom and people, because, at this point, they were addicted to drugs. They couldn’t function without it...
He was too old right now to deal with corrupt officers within his rank and people, who wanted to topple him, since princess Lyra had multiple miscarriages and he had no heir to pass down his legacy even from a few women he had been with.
It sounded very familiar with what happened to Dacre, right?
In the end, all of those victories and deaths were for nothing...

"Do you want me to give you a hug?" Draven asked the little girl, who stared at him with her adorable eyes.
"Yes!" she said enthusiastically, opening her arms widely, so she could hug her. She giggled when Draven nuzzled her cheek. Yet, she pushed him away and looked at him dead in the eyes.
She was only five years old, but she was very attuned to her surroundings and people.
"Why do you want to hug me all of a sudden?"
"Why?" Draven raised his brows, being defensive.
"Dada." freēwēbnovel.com
Zoey looked like her mother whenever she tried to be serious like this, she took after Draven, but her attitude was completely Zia’s.
"I ate your chocolate," Draven finally caved in. He looked guilty, but not really...
"Dada! You are so annoying!" Little Zoey stomped her feet and rushed away from the garden. A maid followed her, as she grumbled, saying she would tell her mother about it.
Draven stared at his daughter with a soft gaze, until her figure disappeared, and only then his expression turned rigid and his gaze became colder.
"What is it?"
Draven didn’t turn his body around, but he knew someone was there, thus he took this childish way to clear the area, since no one should know about his presence.
Behind him, Lucas emerged from the shadow of the trees.
"Seriously, it has been so long since I came to visit you, that’s how you greeted me? You are so cold..." Lucas complained.
It had been twenty years since they left the continent and now Lucas was no longer working as the informant, yet he built his own company and hired a few people to continue the business with the help of Gayle and Dezgar.
They worked together right now, but Draven and Zia lived their own lives, separated from them.
They lived in this big house on up hill with a spectacular view that Zia loved the most, a big yard for Zoey to run around. The three of them lived here with some of the maids.
They moved to this quiet and peaceful place five years ago when they learned Zia was pregnant with Zoey.
Actually, the pregnancy came as a surprise because, after everything that Zia had gone through and countless curses that her body had to take, the chance for her to get pregnant was very slim.
Yet, it happened.
Zoey was a miracle.
"I only want to give you an update about what happened," Lucas said casually, as he walked toward Draven. "Bairone is dead. The continent is in chaos. They accused queen Lyra, who had killed him."
Lucas chuckled at the news he brought, because only stupid people, would believe that. The queen was not even able to dress herself on her own, let alone kill someone.
"Her execution will be held a week from now."
Draven finally turned around to face him. He didn’t seem interested in the news. "That’s it?"
Hearing that, Lucas wanted to protest, but he stopped himself when Zoey’s voice echoed in the hallway, calling for her father.
"You didn’t eat my chocolate!" Zoey said happily and Draven came to her before she noticed Lucas was there. "I love you, Dada."
"I thought I was annoying?" Draven picked her daughter up and kissed her.
"You are annoying, but I love you!"
Lucas then understood, his news indeed meant nothing...
