A Night of Desire-Chapter 139: What’s There to Worry About?
Seth naturally heard the sigh in his mother’s voice, but he paid it no mind. Instead, he continued, "She originally wanted to keep our marriage a secret for now because she’s about to star in a film for our company.
She doesn’t want people to think she got the role because of who she is, nor does she want anyone giving her special treatment once they find out she’s the president’s wife.
So, we can’t announce our marriage until at least three months from now, after filming for this movie wraps up.
I respect her wishes, but I also feel that I shouldn’t hide my marriage from my family, at the very least. That’s why I chose to tell you now.
However, while I want you all to know, you must pretend you’re unaware of it in front of her until she decides to go public. Otherwise, she’s very shy, and I’m afraid she’ll get so embarrassed she’ll divorce me."
He delivered this speech with perfect composure, showing not a hint of guilt for the fact that he was actually telling them only to block any path of retreat for Clara Grant.
Sienna only latched onto one key point in his speech. She looked up at her son in surprise. "What? Seth, you’re actually afraid she’ll divorce you?"
She was genuinely astonished. In her memory, this eldest son of hers had always been cold and detached when it came to women. ’When did he ever care so much about a woman?’
’It seems Seth really, truly likes this Clara Grant!’
The others were clearly thinking the same thing.
"We can agree to your request, but... after she finishes this movie, can she quit the entertainment industry and stop acting? After all, she’ll be the matron of the Quinn Family one day. Her being an actress... I’m worried..."
Sienna was voicing her concerns, but she hadn’t even finished when Seth shook his head. "If she wants to quit, I won’t object. But if she doesn’t want to, I won’t force her."
"What is there to be worried about?" Theodore Quinn, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke with the calm authority of the family patriarch. "I think this girl seems quite good.
The fact that she’s willing to forgo the convenience of being known as the president’s wife, not wanting to be treated differently because of her status, shows that she is a young woman of upstanding character, both independent and self-reliant.
A young woman like that is worthy of the title of matron of the Quinn Family. There’s no shame in it.
What’s wrong with being an actress? Isn’t Miles an actor, too? She is a daughter-in-law of the Quinn Family. Aegis and Seth are her support. Are you really afraid she’ll be looked down upon or bullied out there?
Let’s leave it at that. Since they’ve decided not to announce it yet, we’ll hold off on any wedding plans for now. It won’t be too late to hold the ceremony whenever they decide to go public. Everyone, disperse and get some rest. Cherie is still little, and she’s tired too."
The head of the Quinn Family had laid down the law, and no one dared to object.
Sienna thought about her husband’s words and realized he had a point. ’As long as Seth is happy, what could be more important than that?’
So, she kissed her granddaughter again, then happily followed her husband upstairs.
Jenna Quinn and Cherie, Seth Quinn, and Miles Quinn walked back toward their respective residences together.
Seth drove, with the other three as his passengers.
Jenna Quinn’s Bamboo Garden was the closest. Cradling a nearly-asleep Cherie, she got out of the car and said goodbye to her two younger brothers with a smile. "We’re here at my Serenis. Seth, Miles, good night. See you tomorrow."
Ever since she was old enough to have her own opinions, Jenna Quinn had disliked the name Bamboo Garden, finding it both tacky and unpleasant to the ear. She had taken it upon herself to rename it Serenis.
Once Jenna had gone inside, Seth started the car again and headed toward Miles’s residence, Maranthea.
