Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Getting the Marriage Certificate

"Tomorrow? So soon!"

Clara Grant frowned. Although she had already agreed to marry him, she wasn’t quite ready in her heart—especially not for something so rushed as tomorrow.

"Since we’ve reached an agreement, what’s the difference between sooner and later? In that case, sooner is better." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Seth Quinn raised an eyebrow, his gaze fixed on her. His tone was even.

"Marriage is such a big deal. Don’t you need to discuss it with your family?"

"No. I make my own decisions about my marriage."

"I know, but your parents are getting on in years. It wouldn’t be good to shock them, would it?"

"They’re much more resilient than you’d imagine."

"..." Clara Grant was out of excuses. Finally, she said sheepishly, "Well, that’s good then."

Then, she turned to look at Cherie and added, "What about Cherie’s medical bills..."

"Don’t worry. Once you marry me and become my wife, your problems are my problems. I’ll take care of the medical bills."

"Hah," Clara Grant scoffed. "’Take care of it for me?’ Don’t forget, Cherie might very well be

your son. How can you call that ’taking care of it for me’?"

Seth Quinn’s expression grew sterner. "Let me repeat myself: he is not my son."

"If he’s not your son, then why did his mother give him to you?"

"Perhaps... it’s just a prank."

"A prank? Who’d believe that? Who would play a prank on a total stranger?"

"If you don’t believe me, I can get a paternity test done."

Seeing his dead-serious expression, Clara Grant pouted. She scoffed under her breath but didn’t argue any further.

...

The next day, Clara Grant had Skylar Hayes take her place with Cherie at the hospital. She then went home, gathered her ID and household register, and waited for Seth Quinn to pick her up.

Seth Quinn was punctual, arriving downstairs from her apartment at nine o’clock sharp.

Around nine-thirty, the car pulled up to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

It seemed to be an auspicious day for weddings; a long line snaked out the door of the marriage registration office at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Clara Grant glanced at the long queue, estimating it would be at least two hours before they reached the front.

Before she could even finish lamenting the tiresome ordeal of waiting in line, Seth Quinn pulled her straight inside.

Filling out paperwork, taking photos, getting the stamps... A staff member handed each of them a marriage certificate, warmly congratulating them and wishing them a long and happy life together.

The entire process was unexpectedly smooth.

Holding the bright red marriage certificate, she couldn’t help but click her tongue. ’So, just because he’s Seth Quinn, heir to the Quinn Family and CEO of Aegis, he gets priority even for getting married?’

By the time they walked out of the Civil Affairs Bureau and got into Seth Quinn’s car, Clara Grant still felt like she was in a daze.

She casually opened the marriage certificate and looked at the photo of her and Seth Quinn. He had his usual, unchanging, icy expression, while she just looked completely out of it.

During the photoshoot, the photographer for the couple next to them had to remind them several times to move closer, look more intimate, smile, and look happier.

But their photo was taken with remarkable ease. The photographer only said, "Could you two please move a bit closer," and then, CLICK, it was done.

She figured Seth Quinn’s presence was just too intimidating for the photographer to dare say anything more.

Looking at the photo, she thought, ’We don’t look like newlyweds at all. We look more like a couple who just got divorced.’

After a glance or two, Clara Grant casually tossed it into her bag.

Her eyes fell on the script for *A Lifetime of Splendor* in her bag. She paused for a couple of seconds before zipping the bag shut.

Suddenly, the corner of her lips quirked up as she looked over at Seth Quinn.
