Chapter 449: To the Hundredth Floor [I]

"Antidotes, check. Food supply worth for a week, check. Portable cooking set, check. Change of clothes, check. Water, check. Medicine and bandages, check. Hmm, looks like everything needed for this trip is ready," Elaina nodded in satisfaction as she finishes packing everything she needed into her bag.

"[Elaina, if possible, once you descend to the particular floor where those plants that spews freezing poison stays, perhaps you can bring a few samples back with you?]" the God of Farming asked for a favor.

"Shouldn’t you have more access to these kinds of things? After all, you are also a God of Agriculture," Elaina tilted her head.

"[Just because I was the God of Agriculture doesn’t mean I have thr authority of all the Plants. It was my father who has that authority and considering that only his remnant power remains that I am controlling is what was left behind, any plants that are new to me, I needed to learn them and perhaps I can repurpose them for our goal of spreading my crops all around the world.]"

"I won’t promise anything. I learned from the Grand Sage that this plant is true to its name with Hell. Despite being a plant, it is considered as a much more dangerous thing compared to monsters. Just because it is a plant that remains stationary doesn’t mean it cannot be considered dangerous. One can die if they are not careful around it."

"[There’s no need to worry. If getting samples are going to be a dangerous or hard task, then don’t bother doing so. Your life and everyone who will be going with you is more important than having to risk it for some plant.]"

Elaina smiled and nodded. "I will try my best to gather the samples. But just like I said, no promises I will succeed getting them."

After the preparations, Elaina checked on Adelaide, Raye and Arthur who are also preparing for the trip to the depths of the mines and find the Adamantite that the Village Chief needed to forge the weapon that is necessary for Adelaide’s weapon choice.

In the kitchen where the children are gathered, Layla continue asking the three about their soon to be adventure.

"Why can’t you all tell me where you guys are going? I am not going to be joining anyways but I am still curious on why everyone are so geared up to the point that you all looked like you three are going on a long expedition!"

Adelaide smiled and tap Layla’s shoulder. "Well, as much as I want to tell you about our adventure, Mother is the one who told us that we have to keep it a secret to those who have yet to enter that place. So even if you beg for us to speak, we would need the permission of Mother to speak it to you."

"What Ade said. I am just shutting my mouth in case I just blab it out," Arthur said as he shoved a fried meat on his mouth.

Elaina descended the stairs and overheard everyone’s conversation.

"I think it is fine for her to know, Ade. Besides, we know that Layla knows how to keep a secret. We shouldn’t worry too much about it."

Julia who is currently cooking food chimed in to the conversation. "Let me guess, you guys and Sis will be heading down to the mines right?"

Elaina was surprised to hear that from Julia. She have not revealed this matter to her and has not even brought her along during her time she was heading to the depths before. The farthest Elaina have seen Julia venture on that place is the Quarry during the time they are starting the farm out and she needed to craft a few sprinklers. In short, Julia shouldn’t have any idea about the mines and its anomalous time.

"How did you know about that, Julia? I never brought you there before?" Elaina frowned.

"Don’t be angry Sis, but I followed you one time because I was curious on where you are going most of the time and suddenly come back so fast. That’s when I learned about the mines. And don’t bother hiding how the mines have the abnormal time and how it is infested by monsters that spawns every time one descends on a floor."

"Eh? When did you do that?"

Julia scratches her head and shrugged. "I forgot when it was but it was a few years ago, before I left to do my self-pilgrimage."

Upon hearing that, Elaina didn’t expect Julia to already know the mines and its secret. No wonder she doesn’t question things on how Elaina is able to haul a lot of gems and ores from time to time back then. Julia already knows it, she just kept the secret and didn’t say anything.

"I was just waiting for Sis to reveal and bring me along there but there’s no sign of it so I didn’t bother to reveal that I know about it already. I already forgotten it for a bit until these kids have triggered my memories again, allowing me to remember about it."

Elaina sighed. "Sorry about that, I just didn’t get the chance about it and I just didn’t want to make the place well known to many. That includes my grandparents."

"I can understand your sentiments, Sis. That mine is quite anomalous that anyone else who knows the secret of that place would try to also learn about it and if they are someone with authority, they can even take it from you. So don’t worry. I may know about it, but I will keep it a secret as well. You should as well, Layla and you three as well."

The children nodded in response. Elaina smiled and hugged Julia. Even with the secrets that she was forced to keep, Julia remained steadfast about it and waited for the right time. Perhaps bringing her before would allow Elaina to have an easier time before. But since it all has passed, it doesn’t matter.

"Are you joining us, Sis Julia?" Adelaide asked.

"I would love to but no. I have a few errands I needed to do for the Grand Sage involving his settlement here on the farm that needed my intervention. As his disciple, it is my task to do it. You guys enjoy it instead and be safe, monsters are spawning there after all."

Elaina then turned to look at Layla and the latter shook her head. "Even though it sounds quite nice, I don’t want to join on this. I would rather remain here in the safety of the farmhouse instead of engaging a fight against monsters and risking my life. You can say I will just watch over the farm while you guys are not around."

Elaina pat Layla’s head and smiled. "Thanks about that, Layla. Don’t work too hard in assisting both Yona and Curaj on their work, alright? Their job is a task that adults do, so if just observe if you want, alright?"

Layla smiled and nodded. And so, their breakfast continued happily even after the small revelation of the secret. Now Elaina can rest easy knowing that her burden of keeping a secret to her loved ones have subsided for a bit."

"Alright, let’s get going," Elaina said as they headed towards their next destination which is the hundredth floor of the mines, hoping to find the fabled Adamantium.
