A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 454: Find the Orichalcum
Chapter 454: Find the Orichalcum
The whole floors before the hundredth floor are all littered with the Icehell Spewers, but Adelaide’s way of removing them allows safe passage. It wasn’t easy since some floors are literally littered with them, and there is only a small space to move in between. During this time, Elaina has to sacrifice herself and catch the poison herself while Adelaide cuts them off. Once they are done, she immediately downs a bottle of Ice Antidote, allowing her to cure her poison quickly.
"The poison is not a joke. Compared to regular poisons, it seems this poison is always meant to stop or slow someone. If someone managed to utilize this poison, this is going to be quite troublesome to deal with," Elaina said as she removes the crystalline remnants of the poison from her skin.
"Is it painful, Mom? Are you okay? You tanked most of the ice poison just now. That is worrisome." Arthur is worried about Elaina after what she did earlier.
"Thanks for worrying me, son. But don’t worry, I am fine. I immediately drank a bottle of potion, and the effects were immediately removed. I don’t think there’s any need to be worried anymore."
"Still, you should limit doing that, Mom. It is still poison, there’s no way that poison has no side-effects for longer-term exposure to it, just like regular poison," Adelaide warned.
"I know. If possible, I don’t want to get frozen by those plants again. The antidote for their poison is available, but the experience of getting frozen by that same poison is not a pleasant experience," Elaina stood up and checked her body for any remnants of the poison present in her body.
After making sure the poison is gone, Elaina sprinkled another powder on the cut plants and made sure they wouldn’t grow again. According to the Grand Sage, the powder will prevent them from growing again once cut. Although it’s a very nice herbicide, it only works wonders against something like the Icehell Spewers. It would have been a good tool for dealing with weeds, but since she doesn’t know how to make them, and they are specific for a specific plant in the hopes of complete destruction, Elaina decided not to bother thinking about herbicides anymore. She can just pull it out or cut it with her sickle.
"We are done here. We can proceed now."
The three looked at each other with relief as they knew they would be descending to the location of the item they were looking for. It didn’t last long, but it was a worthwhile experience for the kids.
Heading to the hundredth floor, they started descending on a long ladder. It was quite long that Elaina and the others were surprised by the length of the ladder itself. Then, the familiar "DING!" sound rang in their ears as they landed their feet on the ground. But to their surprise, instead of finding regular ores and ore veins scattered on either the walls or on the floor, what they see are various giant golems. And each golem seems to be growing with various ores on its body. As for the whole floor itself, it was big. No wonder the ladder was quite long; the hundredth floor was quite big because it was housing multiple golems.
"One...two...three...wait, that’s too many golems! The village chief didn’t mention this to me!" Elaina readies her sword as they all hide from the golems.
"This is the first time I’ve seen a golem! I thought they were like dummies or big scarecrows, but seeing them as hulking rocks, I think my imagination about golems is shattered," Arthur peers at the big golems that are walking around without a care.
"You got any plan, Mom?" Raye asked.
"I don’t know. We don’t even know what kind of ore an adamantite is to begin with. There is a chance we might need to take down all of these golems just to find what we need," Elaina shook her head.
"Can’t you cut it down with your sword, Mom?!" Arthur asked.
"I can do that, but I will have to exert stronger force if I want it gone. It would have been fine if it were only one golem, but too many of them, and I don’t think I will be doing that."
The sword of Elaina may be sharp, but it wasn’t made to cut rocks. "I can still cut them if she wanted to, but there is a chance the sword will get dull or break in the process of fighting a golem. Compared to fighting regular monsters who are always blood and flesh, golems are regular rocks and rocks enchanted by magic combined into one, and are made to move. I think the best way to do this is to observe the golems one by one and identify the golem with the unusual ore on its body. And since we can’t afford to attract their attention, we have to be sneaky about this and look for the right golem before we strike."
Adelaide shook her head. "We would take too long to do that if we did that, Mom. I also don’t want to risk ourselves by getting near those hulking rocks and getting smashed flat by them. Instead of doing that with risk, how about we take advantage of this scanning magic that Sis Julia taught me before?"
"Scanning magic?" Elaina tilted her head. As someone who doesn’t have a single ounce of mana in her body and has no idea what this magic her daughter was talking about, it was like she was speaking an alien language.
"Here, let me demonstrate."
Adelaide claps her hands twice before slamming both palms to the ground. She closed her eyes, and her whole body emitted a blue aura.
"Do you two know what she is doing?" Elaina asked.
Both Raye and Arthur shook their heads. Since Arthur does not use magic either, even if he can learn things by watching, it seems that the latent talentless power that Elaina had for magic was also inherited by Arthur, though it wasn’t confirmed.
"Found it," Adelaide said as she opened her eyes once more, and this time she was more sure of it.
"Are you sure?" Elaina asked.
"Very sure, Mother. This golem in front of us is the only one with a unique ore on its body. It is located on its head."
Elaina pulls out her pickaxe. "Alright, since this golem is our target, let’s mine the ore and get out of here as soon as possible!"
