A Twisted Love Affair-Chapter 95: President Zhou, your love debt (1)_1
Chapter 95: President Zhou, your love debt (1)_1
The engagement party between the Chen and Liang families was held at a private estate, decorated to resemble the banquet of royalty from an ancient dynasty, and took place as scheduled.
Shen Jing accompanied Liang Yingning to choose a dress. Liang Yingning declared it definitely had to be beautiful. "We drafted an agreement," she explained. "I’ll cooperate with Chen Yao to secure his inheritance rights and act as a shield for his Jiaojiao on the side. In return, he gives me two percent of the profits." She added, "No one loses out, so don’t go looking for trouble. It doesn’t concern me if he’s rotten to the core. My dream is to be beautiful, get rich, and have my fiancé die before the wedding—leaving me with hefty stock dividends each month!"
Chen Renjun and Liang’s father had a good relationship, and the Chen Family treated Liang Yingning extremely well, so they fully approved of her.
It was a rainy, gloomy day, and the weather was not good at all.
Shen Jing took a very long detour to get to the party. She clearly saw a parking space, but the venue security didn’t let her park there, signaling her to drive to a corner instead. This was a friend’s engagement, so Shen Jing didn’t fuss over such matters. She heeded the guard’s instructions, parked the car to one side, and then got out.
In the hazy rain, before she could open her umbrella, a row of Maybachs slowly drove past. The car windows were treated with privacy film, making it impossible to see who was inside, but the understated yet palpable oppressive aura indicated this was truly a person of high status—they were from the Zhou Family of Xiangshan Baiqing Forest.
More than ten luxury cars simultaneously turned off their engines. Chen Renjun had been waiting at the entrance for some time, expecting this important person.
Chen Renjun stepped forward and greeted, "Second Young Master."
Only someone from the Zhou Family could make Shanghai’s business tycoon Chen Renjun bow.
The car door opened, and a man’s leather shoe was the first to touch the ground. He wore an entirely black suit, with only one of its exquisite platinum cufflinks fastened. Someone held an umbrella for him, revealing only the sharp contour of his well-defined jawline.
Having spent several nights in that man’s arms, Shen Jing knew all too well whose tall and straight figure that was.
Under the black umbrella, Zhou Luchen walked with steady steps, seemingly oblivious to her presence, not once glancing in her direction.
Shen Jing stood rooted to the spot, then retreated to the side, watching wide-eyed as the supremely arrogant Crown Prince of the Zhou Family was escorted into the venue.
He was truly a noble scion, possessing an aristocratic aura that not even the overcast sky could diminish.
The man who, just last night, had asked if she was coming home, became a stranger by morning light.
Meanwhile, a young woman emerged from a red sports car. She wore a Chanel runway white pearl dress, her long hair draped over her shoulders. She handed her car keys to a valet, who took them and greeted her respectfully, "Miss Wen." She responded with a slight "Mm," exuding a cool and aloof elegance with her every gesture.
"Achen."
Wenxin, her slender and elegant figure swaying with each step in her high heels, called out. Only then did Zhou Luchen stop. He took the black-ribbed umbrella from his bodyguard and waited for her.
Shen Jing’s mind went blank. In that instant, it was as if she finally understood who that beautiful woman was.
It wasn’t until Liang Yingning came out with an umbrella to find her that Shen Jing snapped back to reality. "Why haven’t you gone in? I’ve been looking for you for ages," Liang Yingning said.
Shen Jing collected herself, smiled at Liang Yingning, and said, "Let’s go."
She didn’t know anyone besides Liang Yingning.
"Wenxin used to hang out with Chen Yao and his group. I didn’t invite her; I’m not familiar with their circle," Liang Yingning whispered, apparently sensing Shen Jing’s mood.
Shen Jing took the umbrella from Liang Yingning to hold it herself. "You can barely take care of yourself, so don’t worry about me. Today is your day to shine; of course, I’m happy for you."
She wouldn’t let anyone spoil things for her and Liang Yingning.
The event was grand; it seemed famous business leaders from all over had come.
Liang Yingning was the star of the event. As she led Shen Jing into the venue, many eyes frequently turned to Shen Jing. After all, she was the woman at the center of Zhou Luchen’s online scandal from just a few days prior.
Once inside, Shen Jing couldn’t find Zhou Luchen, nor did she see Chen Yao or his companions.
Liang Yingning and Shen Jing stood to the side, eating desserts and chatting.
"They’re upstairs, amusing themselves with who knows what. Let’s not go up; I don’t want to see Chen Yao."
