A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 81: Insistence on a DNA
The horrors never endes.
At least that was what it felt like to Lara at the sight of Curtis’s mother.
Curtis however, had had enough.
"No, No, and No. Absolutely not. I will never stand by and watch you all turn my life upside down. What exactly is the fucking problem? Why are you guys so fixated on me? IT IS MY FUCKING LIFE. Get the fuck out of my sight," he roared.
His hands were tightly fisted, and his voice was so loud that Lara was sure that everyone in the hospital probably heard them.
Lisa however, did not back down.
"As long as you’re sure that you don’t have anything to hide, Curtis, then accepting to carry out a DNA should not be so hard for you to accept. If the pregnancy turns out to be yours, cheers and celebration for you. If it doesn’t, then you’ll finally see what I have been trying to tell you all these while," she explained to her son.
Curtis ran a hand through his hair, frustrated beyond belief.
"Don’t you get it? This is not about proving anything. This is about you, choosing to belief a woman who ditched me at the altar years ago. She shattered my heart and stomped on it so bad, but you still decided to believe her over me? I am your son, goddamnit!"
Lisa stepped forward with her arms spread out.
"I know, which is why I am trying so hard, so hard to break this woman’s — Lara or whatever her name is — hold on you. Please Curtis. Please," she pleaded.
Curtis stared at his mother for a long while before he shook his head. There was acute disappointment on his face, and the way his expression shuttered made Lara’s heart cave in her chest.
He didn’t deserve all of these drama they were putting him through. All Curtis wanted was children and a happy life, yet the people who should have been his biggest supporters were the ones actively opposing him.
"No. I already told you, mother. I will not stand any of your interference again. My decision is final, and if you are not satisfied with it AFTER ALL THESE MONTHS, then that’s on you. Now, please, get the absolute fuck out of my face."
Curtis’s mother stepped forward again, presumably to say something else, but Lara beat her to it.
"Let’s do the DNA, Curtis," she said.
The room went silent instantly. If a pin dropped right at that moment, the noise would most definitely be deafening.
Curtis turned back to face Lara, unable to believe his ears.
"You’re kidding me, right?" he asked, his voice filled with trepidation.
"Please," Lara pleaded. Her sudden agreement to do the DNA wasn’t to please her mother in law. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The reason why Lara wanted the test to be done was to rub it in Lisa’s face once the results were out.
"For fuck’s sake, Lara. We don’t have to prove anything to these people and you know it," he insisted.
Lara smiled at him, and the gesture pressed down on something in Curtis’s heart. His anger deflated, not entirely, but enough for him to run a hand through his hair and curse inwardly before turning to face his mother to say: "Fine. Let’s do the fucking DNA."

"I honestly cannot thank you enough for agreeing to come over and do this for me. Thank you so much, Vivian," Lisa said to her son’s ex fiancé as they say outside the ward.
Vivian smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear shyly.
"That’s fine, Lisa. You’re like a mother to me, regardless of what happened between your son and I. I am very sorry that the relationship turned out the way it did," she said softly.
Lisa shook her head at her.
"Oh, no. That’s absolutely fine. You do not have to apologise for that. It’s been years now, and we’ve all moved on. It’s fine," the older woman reassured Vivian.
They fell back into some sort of a comfortable silence. After Curtis eventually gave in allow the doctors carry out a DNA, he had kicked them both out of the ward.
Now all everyone had to do was wait, and Lisa had all the time in the world.
"You’re really worried about that woman," Vivian stated her observation after a few minutes of silence.
Lisa sighed as she reached out to pinch the bridge of her nose.
"Ugh. Don’t even get me started. I have been trying to get my son to see reason with me for weeks, but he doesn’t even listen to me anymore. It’s frustrating!"
Vivian, ever the sympathetic listener, gently patted Lisa on the arm.
"I’m so sorry about that, Lisa. Hopefully the test will be able to sort things out and your son can come back to you like you want."
The words were so reassuring that it soothed Lisa’s nerve. She smiled at Vivian, and for a brief moment, Lisa wished that the woman hadn’t left Curtis at the altar.
Before either of them could say anything else, the doctor arrived.
He nodded at them and walked straight into the ward. Lisa jumped up and sprinted after him, and Vivian was at her heels.
"Mr. Rodney. I am pleased to tell you that the DNA results are out. Here, you can see for yourself," the man stated. He was about to hand the document to Curtis when Lisa snatched the paper from him.
Her eyes rapidly scanned the results, and what she saw made her gasp. The document fluttered out of her hand, and Curtis caught it before it fell to the floor.
A smug smile grew on his face as he took in what the document said, and Lara felt as though something had been loosened in her chest.
"The babies are yours, Mr. Rodney. There is no doubt about that," the doctor finally said.
Curtis thanked the man, and the doctor nodded at them all before he walked out.
Lisa slowly turned to face Vivian. Vivian was pale and her hands trembled slightly.
"You...lied against my son?" Lisa gasped.
And all hell broke loose.
