Chapter 401: 401 Secret Passage

[Donald’s Perspective]

Upon hearing this, Elliot repressed the excess emotions on his face, stood up, and then began to reorganize the Lycan troops.

We had achieved a substantial gain from today’s landing, so we could return to the command ship to rest briefly and regroup before continuing operations tomorrow morning!

Before leaving Licia’s residence, I stood outside the window, turned my head, and spoke softly to Licia, "I will find a way to contact you before noon tomorrow, and I hope by then that you’ll be waiting for me with news of Margaret."

After finishing, I paused for a moment, fell silent for 2 seconds, then continued, "I am not sure about Martha’s feelings for you, but Henry definitely does not truly wish to protect you! In his eyes, you might merely be the mother of his enemy, so I advise you one last time, don’t foolishly tell him everything. He is not a good man."

After saying these words, I casually closed the window by my hand, turned, and disappeared into the night.

What Elliot and I did not know was that not long after we had retreated from behind the cliff, Henry soon discovered that his patrol had been attacked, which led to a thorough search of Licia’s residence and questioning of all the personnel.

Henry arrived a step too late and didn’t obtain any useful information from Licia. He could only turn Poison Snake Island upside down in his rage, and, ultimately fruitless, was forced to enhance the island’s defenses even further.

He couldn’t have imagined that we had ascended from beneath the cliff. All his efforts were in vain.

After returning to the command ship, I leaned on the railing of the deck, my gaze deep as I observed Poison Snake Island not far away. It lay in the vast night like a cold, venomous snake lurking in waiting.

"Your Majesty, I have just received a report from the commander of the rear army. They have completed forming ranks and are only awaiting Your Majesty’s order to set off directly from the Lilo Sea crossing!" Christian stood two steps behind me, head bowed, and respectfully reported.

Upon hearing this, I reined in my wandering thoughts and, after thinking for a moment, said, "Sending the entire army at once targets too large and makes it difficult to avoid the enemy’s watch. Send word back to General Lucas leading the army to disperse the troops into three groups for transportation. The navy in the Lilo Sea has been active recently, and he can use this opportunity to accomplish the mission."

Christian nodded, noting my command. I turned to look at him, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Charlie’s Heavy Mechanical Camp needs to keep their movements hidden. They are our main force for attacking the eastern side of Poison Snake Island, and before the war truly breaks out, we cannot let the enemy know of this ace up our sleeve! Also, there is another very important matter. Before we launch a full-scale attack on Poison Snake Island, I hope to find the secret passage connecting from the Demon Domain Forest to the island that Berton mentioned."

"But of the passage’s location, we have absolutely no clues, Your Majesty! Even Berton himself said that he only heard of it and has never actually seen it. He isn’t even sure where the passage might be," Christian said, furrowing his brow with evident confusion in his eyes.

I knew what he was worried about. We were to launch a general assault on Poison Snake Island the next afternoon, and finding the location of this underwater passage before then was extremely urgent and also immensely challenging.

I raised my hand to pat the shoulder of my personal guard captain, chuckled slightly, and asked, "Do you remember the words Simo mentioned, that are recorded in Elliot’s manual?"

Naturally, Christian had seen Elliot’s preparedness manual. Upon hearing my question, he silently nodded, but his expression was still puzzled, as if he didn’t understand why I had suddenly brought this up.

I lowered my hand, no longer keeping him in suspense, and guided further, "If the information Simo provided is accurate, then the restricted area he mentioned on the northern side of the island, isn’t it incredibly intriguing?"

As I spoke, I saw a flash of insight in Christian’s eyes. He snapped his fingers, without pausing, continued, "Martha is a complex woman. The enemies, so cautious as to restrict ordinary people from moving through there, could very likely be hiding some secret! Since we are looking for the underwater passage, naturally we cannot overlook the north."

Upon hearing this, Christian nodded and, as if a thought struck him, asked, "Who do you plan to send, Your Majesty? Eric is seriously injured and is recuperating at Mr. Gino’s dock; Mark’s injuries are light, but his condition is clearly not optimal; Elliot carries the burden of both coordinating assaults and linking various camps and cannot be everywhere; previously solely responsible for the Queen’s safety, Louis is still missing; and as the Captain of Your Majesty’s personal guard force, my primary task is to ensure your safety, so I cannot leave your side."

As he spoke, his brow slowly furrowed, seeming truly at a loss for this issue.

Indeed, many Lycans had been sacrificed in our campaign to the south, and the platoon leaders around me were either injured or had already fallen in battle. The loss of personnel was quite direct, and it was precisely for this reason that we found ourselves unable to fully utilize our forces.

But I wasn’t worried about this at all, for I already had a suitable candidate in mind for the task, and he was perfectly suited for it!
