Abyss Sequence-Chapter 474 - 49: Waiting
In the next meeting, Yan Luo remained silent, coldly watching the committee members who were fervently discussing strategies.
He severely doubted that this might very well be part of Fuer’s plan, because the old president was Fuer’s student, and now the old president was guiding the emotions of the academic committee members.
Next, the old president would also need to guide the emotions of other Elf Cities in Alfheim, urging all elves to unite.
In this way, perhaps the cold atmosphere between cities could be swept away, allowing elves to recognize once again that those living in other cities are also their compatriots, always connected by bloodline, and should not be so estranged.
As an observer, Yan Luo watched this meeting until the old president announced its conclusion, at which point he intended to leave, but was stopped by the old president.
The academic committee members dispersed to gather intelligence from the few possessed individuals captured, while the old president led Yan Luo to a compartment beside the conference hall.
Sitting in a chair within the compartment, the old president relaxed his waist and legs, and then spoke honestly to Yan Luo: "Holy Sir, you must have already guessed, what I said earlier was at the behest of Saint Fuer."
Yan Luo asked, "So, was the death of Laiken and the incident with the possessed all part of Fuer’s plan?"
With a serious expression, the old president shook his head: "No, how could Saint Fuer harm his descendants? Laiken died at your hands, and you should have felt that you genuinely killed an elf, not a marionette."
Sighing, the old president continued: "After discovering the possessed, I informed my teacher, and he was deeply saddened. But you are not to blame; in fact, you salvaged some of Laiken’s reputation. Laiken indeed researched demon knowledge, and it was indeed he who reported this matter to his ancestors. It may be hard for you to believe, but Laiken was not a ’possessed one’; there were two of him in his mind.
"Laiken made an unforgivable mistake; the possessed ones in the academy were summoned by him, and those possessed ones were actually demons. This was something my teacher only learned a few days ago but was unable to confirm. Laiken longed for his daughter so deeply that, amidst prolonged pain and guilt, his soul split into two. Then he somehow learned that demons could resurrect the dead, leading him to study demon knowledge—all of which Laiken confided to Saint Fuer personally."
Yan Luo crossed his arms, "So, what is it you want to say?"
"I earnestly request that you stay at the academy for a while." The old president solemnly asks Yan Luo, "Your power system is different from Alfheim’s. If another incident of demon possession occurs, you can quickly resolve the possessed, minimizing their damage to the academy. The academy is one of Alfheim’s three magic seal nodes; if this city falls, the Evil God will immediately be born."
But the Evil God cannot be born now, as the elves of Alfheim have yet to unite fully.
In such circumstances, it’s unlikely to nurture a positive Evil God.
The old president does not know the full extent of the plan; he only knows that the Evil God must not be born.
Yan Luo came to Alfheim this time to observe what form the Evil God born of Alfheim would take, naturally willing to stay.
His transcendent power system is different from that of the elves; in some ways, he quite suppresses the elves. From the abilities those possessed exhibited before, it seems they cannot exert power beyond their physical capacity. In such circumstances, resolving the possessed is an easy task for Yan Luo.
If more possessed were captured, with more research subjects, the academy might be able to research how to separate the entities from the possessed elves.
Upon hearing Yan Luo willing to stay at the academy, the old president immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"However, I need to return to Blue Star to inform my friends that I plan to stay in Alfheim for some time," said Yan Luo.
The old president nodded, "Of course, of course."
So, Yan Luo left the academy and opened a space portal in the air near the academy.
Passing through the space portal, Yan Luo arrived in the high air above the Crimson Abyss.
He looked around and observed the scenery below, quickly realizing he was now floating above the Iron Hill.
Recording the coordinates with the terminal, Yan Luo flew towards the entrance of No.2 Crimson.
Less than an hour later, Yan Luo passed through the entrance of the abyss and returned to No.2 Crimson.
He contacted Sasa and Wang Lingyu via terminal, informing them he planned to stay in Alfheim for some time.
Upon learning this news, Sasa appeared very open-minded, hearing Yan Luo would stay at the academy for a while, she urged him to browse books at the Grand Library and record their contents using the terminal camera.
Wang Lingyu didn’t complain much either; she was somewhat busy lately, as the second semester of her freshman year at Abyss Academy would soon begin practical lessons in dissecting demons. Since Yan Luo was going to Alfheim, she asked him to bring back a few demons for her.
She felt quite uncomfortable using mutant creatures as ’experimental materials’ during her practical lessons.
Yan Luo agreed accordingly, and did not linger at No.2 Crimson, turning away and heading back to the Crimson Abyss.
On his way back from the Crimson Abyss to the academy, Yan Luo encountered two City-breaking Level flying demons, killed and devoured them, replenishing his inner magic power reserves.
The power level of Crimson Abyss seems to have elevated slightly, with a higher likelihood of City-breaking Level demon appearances than before.
So long as the elevation does not exceed a certain degree, the boost in abyssal power levels is a good thing for Hunters, especially since now the Hunters of No.2 Crimson have obtained Saint’s Blood, with some additionally possessing the Evil God’s Mark [Frenzy], increasing their strength at a much faster pace than before.
Unless unexpected issues arise, the Hunters of No.2 Crimson should be able to catch up with the rise in Crimson Abyss power levels.
Everything on Blue Star is progressing in a positive direction, yet Yan Luo remains worried, as the ancient Blue Star civilization, their ancestors, suppressed Blue Star’s magic power, preventing the Evil God that should have been born from coming into being.
Now, Blue Star’s magic power environment is gradually returning to levels from over eight thousand years ago; will the Evil God belonging to Blue Star be born immediately once the magic power environment fully recovers?
Thinking of this, Yan Luo’s heart fills with concern.
This is why he wishes to observe Alfheim’s Evil God, hoping to discern a method to deal with the Evil God Blue Star might nurture.
Yan Luo returned to the coordinate position surrounding the academy’s open airspace, opened a space portal, and arrived in Alfheim.
Not far away stood the academy, that majestic Floating City quietly suspended in the sky.
No wonder the academy does not move, descending to the ground for only a few months each year; it turns out this city is also one of Alfheim’s magic seal nodes.
To construct the magic seal, this Floating City was created.
Thinking about it now, this Floating City has so many functions.
It is Alfheim’s magic seal node, a Doomsday Fortress, and simultaneously the supreme shrine of Alfheim’s art and technology.
To enter and exit the academy normally, one must use the city’s gate; entering the gate does not require authorization from the academic committee’s boundary entry permissions.
Yan Luo returned to the academy, and upon passing through the gate, encountered an elf arranged by the academic committee.
Clearly, the elf had been waiting by the gate for a while, but upon seeing Yan Luo, he showed no sign of displeasure.
Understanding that Yan Luo had aided the academy, he knew without this human Saint’s intervention, the academy would have suffered greater losses and casualties.
The elf waiting there had received orders from the old president, who arranged accommodations for Yan Luo, given his intention to stay at the academy for a time.
Led by this elf, Yan Luo arrived at the door of an ordinary house.
The house resembled those of the academy in every way—a two-story wooden cottage.
Yan Luo did not demand much of his living environment, and since the interior was already cleaned, what more could he say?
Thus, Yan Luo settled into this house, awaiting the opportunity to arrive.
