Abyss Solo-Chapter 45 - : 032 Roaming Shark
Chapter 45: 032 Roaming Shark
Yang Ming lay comfortably on the sofa beside the porthole, holding a cup of coffee brought by the butler robot, staring into the starry void through the window, and indulgently enjoying the supreme authority of being a captain as he planned the repayment of one million New Federation Currency.
He now had a ship; even if he were to do cargo hauling and transportation, coming up with one million within three years wouldn’t pose a big issue.
Of course, Yang Min had better career plans.
Like robbing pirates, ambushing pirate bases, stealing power batteries from major capitalists’ merchant ships.
Oh, it was time.
Yang Ming said with an elegant voice, “Molly No. 2, report the ship’s various indices.”
...
“Okay, Captain…”
“Stop! Stop it, Hanton!”
Kolev yelled angrily, “This is the sixth time you’ve asked for a report in the past hour!”
Holding a porcelain cup, Yang Ming raised an eyebrow and smiled, “A good captain should always pay attention to his cute little ship. We just went through continuous warp jumps, and I’m worried the armor modules might have come loose.”
“Listen, that’s impossible. Warp travel is more stable than regular flying. In normal space travel, you can collide with dust and debris, but what are you going to hit in warp, high-dimensional life forms?”
Kolev said helplessly,
“You could come over and check the Star Map with me. I just got some intelligence. Captain Hanton, the situation is pretty bad.”
“Coming, First Mate.”
Yang Ming stopped his playfulness and walked over to stand behind Kolev.
He looked around the somewhat empty bridge that had been made so due to high levels of integration and the assisted piloting system, planning to set up a gym here so he could work out and monitor for approaching enemy ships simultaneously.
Kolev brought up the 3D Star Map.
“I’ve summarized and compared messages from a few intelligence traffickers, and now we can confirm only a few things.
“Kimo and his crew have been looking for us for two months, and in the process, they also managed to rob two merchant ships. Now, out of the six ships in the Black Dragon Group, three are stationed at Point One—right here, inside this asteroid belt; a perfect hiding spot… developed by me.

“Two other ships are at Point Two, and one is at the shipyard. Damn it, these were all my developments!
“Guka is at Point Two; Kimo is at Point One.”
Yang Ming said, “In fact, they’ve already split.”
“Yes,” Kolev laughed softly, “None of these guys want to answer to the other.”
“Doesn’t that make it easier for us to make a move? We’ll just strike their bases directly, Kolev,” Yang Min said, his eyes shining, “Maybe after one ambush, I could pay off my debt!”
Kolev, however, said, “I told you, the situation is very bad right now. Guess why the fish hide in their nest and dare not move?”
Yang Ming played along, “Why?”
“Because of it.”
Kolev’s fingers swiftly slid across the controls, and a battleship with a droplet streamlined full-surface design appeared in front of Yang Ming.
“A shark is roaming around them, and it has set its sights on them—your little lover Lina’s ship, an eight-hundred-meter class light battlecruiser.”
“This is really problematic.”
Yang Ming crossed his arms and clicked his tongue lightly, “I regret a bit why I didn’t ruthlessly nip it in the bud back then.”
“That’s not your fault. It’s hard for normal people to harm a comrade they’ve been through thick and thin with,” Kolev said, “Especially since she didn’t seem to pose much of a threat at the time.”
Yang Ming stared at the Dawn-level battleship for a while.
“You could try to seduce her,” Kolev earnestly suggested, “Use your masculine charm to turn a high-ranking Intelligence Officer. It could bring you unexpected benefits.”
Yang Ming was about to object when suddenly something occurred to him.
Valkyrie’s mind control.
In the past three months, when Yang Ming had been alone, he’d tried every possible way to understand himself and conducted some physical tests, such as the maximum interval between two injections of Genetic Stabilization Liquid.
Sometimes, in a light sleep state, Yang Ming would enter a somnambulistic state; upon opening his eyes, the world would be hazy before him.
Sometimes, it seemed Yang Ming could hear whispers in people’s minds, but they were like the whispers of demons, quickly making him dizzy.
The result was… he hadn’t found any ‘powerful abilities’, and the rate of his physical strength enhancement had slowed down considerably.
If he had Valkyrie’s mind control, his subsequent actions would be much simpler.
“Where is Lina’s ship?” Yang Ming asked.
“It’s near Kimo. That battlecruiser has set its sights on the asteroid belt, and your little lover probably thinks that by keeping a close watch on Kimo, she’ll find us,” Kolev said, “Dawn-level battleship, one of the few with the best performance among eight-hundred-meter class battleships, possessing a powerful fire control system.”
The old man paused in his speech, then said in a low voice,
“All six of my ships combined wouldn’t stand a chance against it.”
“Is its hull easy to breach?” Yang Ming asked, stroking his chin.
“Almost impossible, and as for how thick its armor really is, I have no information,” Kolev shrugged, “forget it, such military ships don’t have obvious weaknesses. We must find a way to avoid it; otherwise, we can’t take any action.”
Yang Ming carefully studied the Star Map before him for a while.
“Kolev,” he said, “…do you think…”
“Hmm?”
Yang Ming suddenly said, “Is it possible Lina is trying to buy off your crew?”
Kolev was momentarily stunned, then frowned deeply.
Yang Ming quickly explained, “Lina was originally a shipboard doctor on an Imperial Experimental Ship. I escaped with her, and then I ended up in Cole Port Prison, and she transformed into an Intelligence Officer for the Guel Alliance.
“Now that I think about it, many of her actions were suspicious, and I suspect that it was she who deliberately lured the Human Council’s ships to us… She’s particularly adept at setting up undercover spies.”
Yang Ming stared at the screen, slightly lost in thought at the sight of the Dawn-level battleship.
Kolev sighed, “Now that you mention it, I think my plan is riddled with holes. We need to find a way to avoid this battleship.”
Yang Ming pondered for a moment, a rather bold idea sprouting in his mind, he murmured, “Or perhaps, deal with the ship itself.”
“What?” Kolev doubted his own ears, “Handle a battleship?”
“Sounds crazy, right?”
“Hanton,” Kolev said in a low voice, “I’ve always avoided asking you these questions… but if we’re to carry out such a dangerous operation, I must know just how strong you are. What gives you the confidence that you can handle a Dawn-level battleship? It seems like sheer fantasy.”
It was the Ancient Gods.
Yang Ming answered in his heart.
After some thought, he decided to show Kolev a portion of his real strength.
“Come with me to the gym… Is my ship in any danger here?”
“We’re hidden in the wilderness of the interstellar gap; there’s absolutely no need to worry.”
“Let’s go Kolev, my loyal first officer, you’d better prepare an emergency capsule.”
…
The first was a demonstration of strength.
With a wooden expression, Kolev sat atop a small mountain made of piled metal plates.
As Yang Ming squatted down and stood up while lifting these plates, the old man too moved up and down constantly.
Next was the speed demonstration.
Yang Ming stepped onto the treadmill set to three times Earth’s gravity, with his big feet casting after-images as he sprinted forward, Kolev stared blankly at the treadmill’s display, which showed speeds equivalent to ’55 kilometers per hour’ in Sherman Empire units, momentarily at a loss for words.
Lastly was the shooting demonstration.
Kolev stood in front of the shooting target with a bewildered expression, an almond perched on his head, as Yang Ming confidently lifted the laser gun without the aim assist activated…
“Oh! Stop! Enough! I know now! Your strength is extraordinary!” Kolev shouted shakily.
Yang Ming put down the laser gun, full of regret.
He had been absolutely confident.
Kolev hurriedly tossed the almond aside and came back trembling, staring at Yang Ming as if he were a monster.
“What kind of monster’s genes have you fused with? Your strength and speed far exceed those of an ordinary Transformed, and yet you don’t have exaggerated muscles.”
Yang Ming solemnly delivered the excuse he had prepared earlier, “This is the technological strength of the Sherman Empire.”
“Oh, this powerful empire, do they really intend to conquer the entire Milky Way!”
Kolev pondered carefully and shook his head,
“But that’s still not enough. Let’s not even talk about your inability to infiltrate the battleship, just think about the internal defenses that must exist within the battleship — there will inevitably be laser guns with limited power placed at the checkpoints of various corridors to prevent mutiny — you can’t deal with those.
“Unless I can get you a set of the extremely expensive Strong Breeding Armor, but our current conditions don’t allow it. As soon as I show up, we’d definitely draw attention.”
Yang Ming thought of the laser guns that could penetrate a Valkyrie’s body and the red armor of the complete Valkyrie form.
“Is there any chance of planting an electronic virus on the Alliance’s ships?” Yang Ming asked.
“Are you questioning the talent pool of the Four Great Rogues of the Galaxy?” Kolev laughed, “My little tricks can only bully those small countries that don’t have a complete education system.”
“Looking at it now, we’re indeed at a stalemate,” Yang Ming theatrically wiped the nonexistent sweat from his brow.
“Relax, there will be a way,” Kolev patted Yang Ming’s shoulder.
The two left the gym and hurried back to the bridge through the corridors.
Kolev said, “What we need to clarify now is that both of us are facing survival crises, mine from previous subordinates and yours from a former lover.”
“Lina is not my mistress,” Yang Ming explained, “She was an old friend of mine… Now, I must find a permanent solution to this problem.”
Killing her won’t solve your dilemma, Hanton,” Kolev said softly, “After you entered Cole Port Prison, your intelligence has surely been reported to the Guel Alliance.”
“Do I have to wipe out the entire Alliance?”
“Or make the Alliance think you’re already dead.”
Yang Ming paused, stopping in his tracks and falling into deep thought.
Kolev didn’t interrupt him and walked back to the bridge on his own, contemplating in front of the Star Map.
Half an hour later.
“The captain has arrived on the bridge.”
Molly No. 2’s synthetic voice was full of vigor, as if she’d just had a hearty meal.
Yang Ming practically ran into the room, his elated demeanor making Kolev a bit anxious.
A young man’s sudden inspiration often marks the beginning of a disaster.
“Hey! Kolev!”
Yang Ming spoke with great excitement,
“I have a plan! A perfect plan! One that will solve both of our problems at once!”
Oh! My God!
Kolev covered his now-aching heart.
