Chapter 207: A Mysterious Letter

The party carried on with its lively atmosphere, the guests still enjoying the celebration. Evander stood tall, his sharp gaze sweeping across the venue, satisfied with how the night had unfolded.

It had been a success—at least by his standards. He had announced his marriage, silencing rumors, and had spent the evening by Delphinia’s side, making their union known to the world. Now, as the night neared its end, he found himself exhaling a deep breath, relieved that the event was finally wrapping up.

Just then, Julian approached with a woman by his side. "Evander," Julian said, a grin playing on his lips. "I’d like you to meet Claire, my girlfriend."

Claire was a delicate beauty, her features soft yet striking. Her long, chestnut-brown hair cascaded down her back in gentle waves, framing her fair face. Warm brown eyes shone with intelligence and kindness, and her cheeks flushed a rosy pink as she glanced up at Evander. She wore a pale blue satin dress that complimented her slender figure, her posture poised yet slightly nervous under Evander’s scrutiny.

Evander’s lips curled into a rare, easy smile. "So, this is my sister-in-law?" he mused, his deep voice laced with amusement.

Claire’s eyes widened slightly, and her blush deepened. "S-Sister-in-law?" she stammered, her voice soft but sweet.

Julian chuckled, wrapping an arm around her waist. "You’re so cute," he murmured, kissing her temple.

Claire ducked her head shyly but smiled nonetheless. Evander studied the interaction, noting how Julian’s normally carefree demeanor softened entirely in Claire’s presence. His younger brother was undeniably smitten, his gaze filled with admiration whenever it landed on her.

"It’s good to finally meet you," Claire said, composing herself. "Julian talks about you often."

Evander arched a brow. "Oh? Only good things, I hope."

Julian scoffed. "I may have exaggerated a little."

The small group shared a light laugh before the conversation shifted to simpler topics—how Julian and Claire met, how long they’d been together, and Julian’s relentless attempts to impress her. It was a brief but pleasant exchange, and Evander couldn’t help but be glad that his brother had found someone who brought out this side of him.

"By the way, where’s Delphinia? I wanted to introduce Claire to her too."

Claire perked up at that, nodding. "Yeah, I’ve heard a lot about her. It’d be nice to finally meet her in person."

Evander glanced toward the hallway before answering. "She went to the restroom for a bit. She should be back soon."

Julian hummed in understanding. "Guess we’ll just have to wait, then."

As the party finally wound down, Evander let out a quiet sigh of relief. He had endured enough socializing for the night, and more than anything, he was looking forward to retreating with Delphinia and Ashton. But as he glanced around, he noticed something unsettling—Delphinia still hadn’t returned.

Frowning, he excused himself and began searching the venue, weaving through lingering guests. He checked the corners of the hall, the terrace, even the bar, but she was gone.

With a growing sense of unease, he made his way toward his parents, who now stood speaking with Claire.

"Have you seen Delphinia?" he asked, his voice calm but firm.

His mother shook her head, but his father spoke up. "She left a little while ago." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Evander’s frown deepened. "She left? Without me or Ashton?"

"She seemed fine," his father assured. "She didn’t mention where she was going."

Evander exhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair as his gaze swept across the room. Something about this didn’t sit right with him. Delphinia wouldn’t just leave without telling him—at least, not under normal circumstances.

His eyes flicked back to his parents. "Where’s Ashton?" he asked, his voice laced with impatience.

"Ashton went with Julian to the restroom. He’s fine," she said, offering a small smile.

Evander exhaled, rubbing his temple. "Alright. I’ll head back to our room first. Claire, bring Ashton to me when they’re done."

Claire nodded, and Evander wasted no time making his way toward the elevators. A sense of urgency tightened in his chest, an irrational but undeniable worry creeping into his mind. What if she wasn’t feeling well? What if she had left because something was wrong? The thought made his steps quicken, his pulse steady but heavy.

The moment he reached the hotel suite, he swiped the key card and pushed the door open. "Delphinia?" he called, stepping inside.

Silence.

His brows furrowed as he checked the living room. Empty.

His steps were brisk as he searched the bedroom—still no sign of her. He even checked Ashton’s room, but it was just as empty. A strange feeling settled in his stomach.

Grabbing his phone, he dialed her number. It rang, once, twice—no answer. His grip on the device tightened, his jaw clenching as his worry deepened. Where could she have gone?

Just then, a knock echoed through the room. Evander turned sharply, striding toward the door with the hope that it was Delphinia. He swung it open, only to find Julian, Claire, and Ashton standing there.

Julian was slightly out of breath. "Here," he said, running a hand through his hair.

Evander narrowed his eyes, taking in the sight of both Julian and Claire, who looked visibly winded. Their chests rose and fell rapidly, and Claire was even leaning slightly against the doorframe as if trying to steady herself.

He arched a brow. "Did you two run here?"

Julian, still catching his breath, could only lift a thumbs-up in response. Claire shot him a little smile before exhaling heavily. "Obviously," she muttered.

Evander crossed his arms, unimpressed. "And why exactly was that necessary?"

Julian, still trying to compose himself, jabbed a finger in Ashton’s direction. "Ask him," he huffed. "Your son—" he paused, inhaling deeply, "—said we needed to hurry. Something urgent. He made it sound like a damn emergency."

Evander turned to Ashton with a pointed look. "Ashton?"

Ashton, wide-eyed and serious, stepped forward and held out a small envelope. "Delphinia told me to give this to you after the party," he said earnestly.

Evander’s brows lifted in surprise, and without hesitation, he took the envelope, his fingers swiftly tearing it open. Inside was a neatly folded note, and as he unfolded it, his eyes immediately scanned the words:

Come meet me at the rooftop. Your wife.
