Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 228: Breaking Point
Kai stormed into his house, his grip on the large envelope so tight that his knuckles turned white. His entire body vibrated with rage, his mind clouded with fury. He didn’t bother to remove his coat or loosen his tie. The front door swung open with such force that it slammed against the wall, the loud bang echoing through the house.
His chest heaved as he stood there, eyes darting around the entryway, desperately searching for any sign of her. The house was silent, too quiet, the kind of silence that made everything feel heavier. His grip on the envelope was so tight, the paper was beginning to crease under his fingers, but he didn’t care. He was beyond caring.
"Adalaine!" His voice tore through the stillness, sharp and jagged, like a blade slicing through the air. He didn’t care if she heard the anger in his tone. He needed answers, and he needed them now.
The silence stretched on. No answer.
"Adalaine!" he shouted again, louder this time, his voice echoing off the walls, vibrating with the fury that clawed at his throat. Still, there was nothing.
His breathing was ragged, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he made his way straight to the bedroom.
Inside, Adalaine sat on the bed, scrolling through her phone without a care in the world. She looked up at the sudden intrusion, her brows knitting together in confusion.
"Kai? What’s with the—"
She didn’t even get to finish her sentence before she caught sight of his expression. His eyes were dark, filled with something so menacing that a shiver ran down her spine. He was glaring at her like she was the filthiest thing in existence, and the sheer intensity of it made her skin crawl.
Before she could utter another word, Kai’s hand shot out, grabbing a vase from the nearby table. With a powerful swing, he hurled it toward her.
Adalaine screamed, ducking just in time as the vase shattered against the wall behind her, shards of glass raining onto the floor. Her heart pounded in her chest as she covered her head with her hands, her entire body trembling from the sudden outburst.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" she shrieked, her voice rising in anger.
Kai didn’t answer. Instead, he threw the envelope at her, the thick stack of papers hitting her directly in the face before falling to the floor in front of her.
"Open it," he ordered, his voice dangerously low, almost a growl.
Adalaine hesitated, staring at the envelope like it contained a death sentence. Her fingers shook as she reached down, picked it up, and slowly pulled out the contents.
The moment she saw the photographs, her face drained of color.
A gasp escaped her lips as her eyes darted over the incriminating images—her tangled in the arms of another man, lips locked in passionate kisses, fingers gripping onto him as if he was her lifeline. Different locations, different moments, but the betrayal in each one was the same.
"Kai, I—"
"Shut up," he snapped, his voice sharp enough to cut through steel.
Adalaine swallowed hard, her mind scrambling for an excuse, an explanation—anything that could lessen the storm brewing in front of her.
"This... this isn’t what it looks like!" she rushed out, clutching the photos as if holding them tighter would make them disappear. "I swear, Kai! These pictures, they’re misleading! It’s not—"
"Not what?" he roared, stepping closer, his towering figure making her feel impossibly small. "Not you shoving your tongue down another man’s throat? Not you whoring around while calling yourself my wife?"
Adalaine flinched at his words, tears welling up in her eyes. "It’s not like that! You have to listen to me! I made a mistake, but it didn’t mean anything! I love you, Kai, I really do—"
Another crash rang through the room as Kai grabbed a lamp and smashed it against the floor. "Don’t you dare say you love me! Don’t you f*cking dare!" he bellowed. "You disgust me, Adalaine!"
Her breath hitched as she tried to reach for him, her hands trembling. "Please, Kai, listen to me. We can fix this—"
"There’s nothing to fix!" he cut her off, his voice filled with pure venom. "You’ve made a joke out of our marriage. Do you think I’ll forgive this? Do you think I’ll look the other way? You must be out of your goddamn mind."
Kai clenched his jaw so tight it ached. He didn’t want to hear another word. He had wasted enough time on her, on this sham of a marriage. His fingers curled into fists as he glared at her with absolute loathing.
"I’m done," he declared coldly. "I’m divorcing you."
Adalaine gasped, shaking her head violently. "No, Kai, please! You can’t do this! You don’t mean it! I’ll do anything—anything! Just don’t leave me!" She rushed toward him, grabbing onto his arm. "I love you, I love you! We can work this out!"
Kai yanked his arm away with such force that she stumbled back. "Get out."
"No! No, I won’t go!" she sobbed, dropping to her knees. "Please, Kai, don’t do this to me! Don’t throw me away like this!"
Kai’s face twisted in disgust. "I should’ve thrown you out the moment Delphinia warned me about you," he spat. "I should’ve listened to her."
Adalaine crawled toward him, clutching his pant leg. "Kai, please, I beg you! Don’t do this! I’ll change! I’ll be better! I just—"
"Enough!" he barked, shoving her off. "If you won’t leave, I’ll make you."
Adalaine’s breath hitched as Kai turned away. "What are you doing?"
"I’m calling security."
"No! Please!" she cried, scrambling to her feet. "Kai, don’t do this! I have nowhere to go!"
"That’s not my problem," he said coldly, grabbing his phone. "Leave willingly, or I’ll have you dragged out."
Adalaine’s hands trembled as she stared at him, realization dawning that he was truly serious. Her lips quivered, desperation clawing at her. "Kai..."
His eyes were devoid of any warmth, any love. "Get. Out."
She opened her mouth to say something, anything, but before she could form the words, he moved. He was faster than she expected, closing the space between them with a single step. He didn’t hesitate. He grabbed her by the arm with a force that made her flinch, pulling her toward the stairs without another word.
"Kai, please..."
He didn’t respond. He just kept pulling her along, past the yard, toward the gate. When they reached the gate, Kai stopped. He released her arm with a sharp push, making her stumble. She caught herself on the gate’s post, but before she could say another word, Kai’s voice rang out, cold and final.
"Don’t show your face in front of me again." The words hit her like a slap, and before she could respond, the gate slammed shut with a deafening sound.
He stood there, breathing heavily, his fists clenched so tight his nails dug into his palms. His entire body shook with the force of his emotions, but the moment was hollow. He didn’t feel satisfaction, nor relief. Just... emptiness.
But one thing was for certain. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
He would never make the same mistake again.
