Accidenttal One Night Stand with My Aloof Uncle-Chapter 645 - 655: Without Your Favoritism, I Only Have Obsession 5
Chloe Grant lifted her head slightly, stubbornly, "Matthew Morgan, you no longer have any qualification or right to interfere with me. From the moment you and Thea Yates got together, it was destined that there would be no more entanglement between us.
You live your life, and I’ll walk my path. We don’t owe each other anything anymore, and there’s no need for us to worry about each other."
After saying that, Chloe Grant pushed Matthew Morgan away and walked straight ahead.
Yet...
Chloe had only taken two steps when her left wrist was grabbed by Matthew.
Chloe frowned, instinctively struggling, but she couldn’t break free.
Matthew had initially grabbed her wrist, eventually moving to her hand, holding it tightly.
This simple action, however, made Chloe burst into tears in an instant.
She had been holding back so hard, so stubbornly and strongly.
Yet his one simple action shattered her defenses!
Tears fell from her eyes, and Chloe didn’t wipe them away but reached out to pull her hand from Matthew’s grasp.
He wouldn’t let go, no matter what.
She struggled!
The two of them stood in a stalemate, both their hands already red.
"Why... not wait?"
Matthew finally spoke.
Chloe’s movements stopped, she pressed her lips, lifting her head to look at him, "How many times do you want me to say it, emotions are matters for two people, never just one person’s effort. It’s not that I can’t wait, it’s that I have no way to wait.
Hopelessly watching you marry someone else, where does that leave me?"
Chloe sniffed, tears spilling again, but she struggled to smile, "Let it be then, let the past drift away with the wind, everything will be over."
Chloe pulled her hand out of Matthew’s grasp, opened the car door and sat inside, then drove away.
Matthew was still standing at that spot.
Even while driving, Chloe kept looking at him in the rearview mirror, watched for a long time, until the car turned the corner and she couldn’t see the spot at all.
The car drove quietly on the road, but inside, Chloe was crying her heart out.
...
In the evening, Chloe had arranged to have dinner with Jacob Lee.
"After we’re married, let’s move to City A, what do you think?"
While Jacob was talking, Chloe was looking out the window.
He spoke for quite a while, but Chloe didn’t respond.
Jacob poured her a drink, looking at her, "Chloe?"
"Chloe?"
Only after the third time he called did Chloe come to her senses, turned to look at Jacob, clearly a bit flustered, "Is something wrong?"
Jacob smiled tolerantly, "I was asking you, after we’re married, let’s move to City A, what do you think? My contract with the company has ended, and I want to start my own business, choosing City A for the location, what do you think?"
"City A..." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
It’s a place quite far from the Imperial City.
It takes about three hours by plane.
"Think it over, no need to rush and answer me now, after all, we have a month.
I just feel that, after all, the Imperial City is a place of heartbreak, maybe by leaving it, we can truly start anew.
We will surely return someday, but by then, when facing this city, we’ll only feel nostalgia, nothing else."
Jacob spoke slowly.
Chloe fell into thought...
In her mind, she was stuck at the scene at the old house’s gate where Matthew held her tightly, asking her "Why not wait," unable to pull herself away.
Chloe even asked herself: Was I wrong?
