Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 183: The Truth from Back Then
"I heard you’re planning to have your wedding during National Day?" Tim Sawyer asked.
Sophia Lowell wasn’t sure how she got this information; the wedding was only known to their two families, and very few friends, let alone someone she wasn’t close to.
Although Zane had proposed to her at the racetrack last time and it had spread among many people, news about the wedding hadn’t been made public, not even the invitations had been sent out.
"It’s not confirmed yet; we’re just in the preparation stage," Sophia didn’t want any surprises at her wedding.
Hugh Irving was right; Tim Sawyer had too many unpredictable elements to be trusted.
Tim Sawyer smiled, perhaps noticing some of Sophia’s thoughts, and couldn’t help but feel a bit smug that Sophia was actually afraid of her.
That was enough, fear probably meant knowing she wasn’t as good as Tim Sawyer, right?
"I’m planning to develop my career abroad; I just came to let you know. Although there are some differences between us, I really appreciate your abilities. Even if we can’t be like sisters, we can at least be normal friends."
Sophia didn’t find this strange; she had only modest fame domestically, and going abroad might help her grow faster.
But what’s that got to do with me?
"I wish you all the best." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
After Nancy Sawyer was imprisoned, Tim Sawyer hadn’t made any significant moves, so Sophia relaxed regarding her.
But being friends was no longer necessary.
"You don’t hold a grudge against me for past events, do you?" Tim Sawyer smiled.
"What answer do you want to hear?" Sophia sneered.
Asking such a question was truly idiotic.
A former girlfriend constantly bouncing around in front of the current one—how could that be anything but annoying?
"It doesn’t matter, since I’m leaving anyway, you don’t need to worry."
"Besides, we’re already married. I have nothing to worry about. In terms of ability and looks, you’re no match for me. If anyone should be concerned, it should be Zane. He clings to me as if he’s afraid I might run away."
Sophia’s heart was calm regarding her words. She didn’t understand what Tim Sawyer meant by ’worry,’ given they’d already registered their marriage; talking about this was quite laughable.
Tim Sawyer smiled silently, but under the table, her hands clenched tightly, her nails digging into her palms, leaving white marks.
"We’re somewhat alike after all. If he likes you, he could naturally like someone else who looks like us. Men are visual creatures; eventually, they’ll get tired of your looks."
She got up and coincidentally ran into Hugh Irving, who was returning from the bathroom.
Hugh Irving, of course, had heard everything just now.
She wasn’t as easygoing as Sophia.
She walked forward, standing next to Sophia, and sneered coldly.
"You and your mother are cut from the same cloth. When others are clearly already together, you resort to all means to snatch them away. What did it get you in the end? You haven’t suffered enough to dare speak like that. Who does Sophia think she is that she would need you as a friend? Are you even worthy?"
Tim Sawyer’s face slowly turned red.
Nancy really didn’t love her mother.
When Nancy was tied to her side, her mother became increasingly miserable.
Sophia smiled, "So what if I like someone else? Zane is a high-quality man, and just being able to sleep with him is quite an achievement. Tim Sawyer, you haven’t slept with Zane, have you?"
Tim Sawyer’s face alternated between red and white, unsure of what to say.
"Having slept with such a man makes me quite satisfied. If he doesn’t want me in the end, I wouldn’t have lost anything either." Sophia’s face was full of smiles.
Tim Sawyer managed a smile, offering no rebuttal.
Zane never touched her. They were purely dating back then, and not long after, Zane joined the military. Everyone knew what happened after.
"I hope you two stay this way," Tim Sawyer said with a cold smile, stepping aside and walking past Hugh Irving.
"What kind of goods? Did Zane ever fancy such a woman with an impure mind?" Hugh Irving glared at her.
"Alright, don’t be mad at someone like that. Sit down; the cake isn’t finished yet."
Sophia felt no emotional shift due to her presence.
Whatever she said didn’t matter.
No matter what, Sophia had already won.
As she said, just being able to sleep with someone as exceptional as Zane meant even if they didn’t end up together in the end, it wasn’t a loss.
Besides, they were already married, and though it began with the intent of preventing emotions, they had now grown into a genuine emotional connection she felt stable in.
At least for now.
All there was to do was enjoy the present.
"How does she have the face to come up and say these things to you?" Hugh Irving complained.
Sophia considered her words too.
"She must be planning something; she hasn’t acted yet, only came to provoke you. Could she be planning to find someone who looks similar to us to seduce Zane?"
"..." Sophia was taken aback.
What kind of thought process was this from Hugh Irving?
Yet, based on what Tim Sawyer had just said, her deduction wasn’t entirely groundless.
"If he really is that kind of person, why should I stay with him?" Sophia used to be indifferent to such matters.
She used to be in it for the day-to-day living, not caring about feelings, as long as they weren’t brought home, especially those flirty people around him.
But somehow, somewhere along the line, she started to care.
Though Tim Sawyer’s words just now didn’t weigh her down, she did believe in Zane’s character.
Yet if someone like that did appear around Zane and he didn’t reject them, it would indeed sting Sophia quite a bit.
"What are you thinking? You told me to ignore her, and now you’re caught up yourself," Hugh Irving teased.
Sophia snapped back, smiling, without saying a word.
Yes, she had gotten wrapped up in it, letting such people affect her, which wasn’t worth it.
When Tim Sawyer walked out of the cafe toward her car, she caught sight of a familiar vehicle around the corner.
It was Faye Ellison’s car.
Without hesitation, she opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.
"What are you doing here?" Faye Ellison frowned, showing reluctance.
"Old classmate, I called you to come over and you don’t even thank me, but talk to me like this?" Tim Sawyer was a bit annoyed.
Why did so many people like Sophia?
"What is it? Hurry up and say it, then leave quickly," Faye Ellison said indifferently.
"I’ve followed through with the plan; make sure not to mess it up. Also, take care of the person you arranged quickly. Zane isn’t a good person. His hands are stained by Drake Morgan’s death and many other lives. He’s only stopped since being with Sophia."
"No need for you to say that."
"I’m just reminding you, if we fail, we won’t even know how we die." Tim Sawyer had her reservations.
"What, are you scared?"
Faye Ellison chuckled, tapping his long fingers on the steering wheel, a devilish grin on his face.
Tim Sawyer swallowed hard.
When Faye Ellison approached her with the plan, she was indeed frightened. She just wanted a bit of revenge against Sophia, but was also reluctant to give up.
Faye Ellison’s plan was too risky.
"You’d better not back out!" Faye Ellison warned.
He held dirt on Tim Sawyer.
Back then, Tim Sawyer claimed that the breakup with Zane was her mother’s doing.
But it wasn’t; Tim Sawyer rejected Zane, opting to go abroad and knowing about her family’s investigation. Feeling scared, the two things together led her not to think twice.
Zane’s leg was compromised, so there was no point in staying with him.
When she cruelly said those words back then, she felt guilty but never regretted it.
After his leg healed and her mother passed, she conveniently shifted the blame to her late mother.
Faye Ellison knew all this back then.
Having met Tim Sawyer abroad once, when she’d gotten drunk and he’d sent her home, she had confided her affairs to him.
He just hadn’t realized then that the man with the note "Fool," was Zane.
If this were revealed, then the entire plan would fall apart.
Tim Sawyer’s remaining integrity in the industry would be completely sullied.
Grinding her teeth, Tim Sawyer said, "I won’t back out; don’t disappoint me either!"
Being blackmailed by this man, she angrily exited the car, slamming the door, and returned to her own vehicle.
Faye Ellison ignored her, opened the window, casually smoking a cigarette.
