Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 207: Madam Wants to Divorce Him
The next morning, Sophia Lowell was woken up by the urge to pee.
The man beside her was already gone, and even the sheets on his side of the bed were neat.
Sophia felt that the man hadn’t come back to sleep last night, at least not in this bed.
She got up and, for some reason, seemed to smell that man’s familiar scent.
After all, this room used to be Zane Sterling’s, so it was normal for his scent to linger.
She walked into the bathroom, ready to freshen up, and caught sight of Zane hurriedly putting on a shirt.
A faint red line was visible on his shoulder blade.
Sophia didn’t pay much attention, her gaze fell on his sturdy chest and well-defined abs...
His body has always been in great shape, whether above or below, inside or out, it was always satisfactory.
Zane seemed to notice her lingering gaze, and the corner of his mouth subtly curved up, not intending to button his shirt.
"Why not sleep a little longer?" His voice was slightly hoarse.
Sophia’s earlobes inexplicably turned red, and she turned her head away, ignoring him.
Zane didn’t expect her to respond, he simply smiled and walked out of the bathroom, passing by her.
"I’ll wait for you," he said.
A faint fragrance filled the air.
It was Sophia’s perfume.
This man sprayed her perfume?
There must be something wrong with his mind.
This is for women to use.
Sophia frowned, walked into the bathroom, and shut the door.
When she finished and came out, there was no trace of Zane in the living room or the room.
Was he afraid she’d say something to him? Why does he seem so elusive since he got back?
She didn’t think much of it.
This matter had to be resolved.
How to solve it, she hadn’t figured out yet.
Zane was an outstanding man in every aspect, surrounded by women vying for his attention.
She was tired.
Maybe it was time for her to take a break.
Sophia paused, her mind filled with chaotic thoughts, making it hard for her to breathe.
She opened the door and walked out, finding Zane just leaning against the door waiting for her.
"..."
Why didn’t he wait in the room?
Sophia still ignored him and walked down to the dining room by herself.
Zane followed behind her, as if nothing had happened between them.
In the dining room, only the maid was present. Seeing the two coming down, she served them their breakfast.
Sophia slowly drank her porridge, while Zane peeled an egg for her at the side.
She noticed his hands were covered with small needle marks, like when she practiced embroidery while studying fashion design, turning her fair hands into sieves.
Even his calloused hands showed them.
What did he do?
Sophia couldn’t eat anymore, her mind filled only with this man in front of her.
Last night, Ethan messaged Sophia to explain the situation, but it didn’t seem very convincing.
Sophia now realized that Ethan’s business trip was just to clean up his mess.
So many people knew about it early on, Hugh probably knew too.
Only she remained oblivious, making her feel even more stifled.
"After we finish eating, let’s talk." She put down the spoon, not even eating the egg he had just peeled for her.
The egg slipped from Zane’s fingertips as he placed it in her bowl, his fingers trembling slightly.
Before he could react, Sophia had already stood up, heading upstairs, leaving Zane alone in the dining room.
What does she want to talk about?
Is it about divorce?
Zane retracted his hand and stuffed the dumplings into his mouth in one go.
No, they can’t divorce...
His thoughts drifted, the meat porridge in front of him untouched.
He had never felt so absent-minded.
He picked up his phone and called Ansel Gallagher.
Ansel was a bit puzzled when he received the call.
What did Zane mean by asking him to steal the marriage certificate and hide it?
So, the madam wants to divorce him?
He dared not ask further and obediently took the marriage certificate and hid it away.
Sitting in the dining room, Zane seemed drained of all energy, unmoving in his chair.
At this moment, he dared not go upstairs to face her, afraid that she would really bring up divorce.
This was a treasure he worked so hard to earn! How could it be ended just like that!
Zane did not go find Sophia but instead went to the ancestral hall to punish himself by kneeling.
He was avoiding Sophia; nothing good would come from talking to her now.
Sophia waited for him upstairs, but he never appeared.
He was absent at dinner as well.
"Where did that useless fool go?" Grandpa Sterling coldly berated Eugene.
Eugene furrowed his brows, answering calmly, "Still kneeling in the ancestral hall."
Kneeling in the ancestral hall?
So he’s been kneeling there all day?
Grandpa Sterling set his chopsticks down and asked, "Then what are you doing here?"
"..." Can’t I be here?
"If a father doesn’t teach, it’s his fault! If you can’t teach your son well, what are you doing eating here! Go! Kneel together!"
"..." Eugene swallowed a mouthful of food.
Alright, it’s all my fault.
Eugene smacked his lips, feeling a bit humiliated, as Grandpa Sterling didn’t give him any leeway in front of so many people.
Eugene barely ate two bites before heading upstairs.
Midway through dinner, a servant came to deliver a message.
"Master, Old Master Lowell has arrived. We tried to have him wait, but we couldn’t stop him."
Just as the words were said, Zeke Lowell and two bodyguards appeared at the entrance of the dining room.
"Grandfather..." Sophia slowly stood up.
"Dad," Autumn was somewhat surprised; he was alarmed after all.
His health had not been great lately, and they had tried to keep this from him, but it was in vain.
Grandpa Sterling wanted to say something, but Zeke interrupted him.
Snorting coldly, he said, "Don’t talk to me about quality—I’ve never had much of that!"
After he spoke, Zeke turned his gaze to Sophia, his tone softened, "Come home with Grandpa."
He gritted his teeth. After what happened with Autumn, he wasn’t going to let his niece follow the same path!
Grandpa Sterling gave Zoe a meaningful glance, which she understood.
"Old Master Lowell, why not stay and have a meal before you go?" Grandpa Sterling ordered an extra chair brought over.
"Where is that scoundrel?"
Zeke didn’t answer Grandpa Sterling’s question, his gaze swept the room but saw no sign of Zane.
"What? Hid him away so quickly?" Zeke didn’t give any face at all.
Everyone knew Zeke had a sort of wild edge. Whenever he raised his voice, everyone nearby would tremble a bit.
Everyone knew about Nancy getting her leg broken.
But Zeke wasn’t someone who wouldn’t let things go when he had the upper hand.
Just then, Eugene and Zane came down the stairs.
"Grandfather," Zane greeted him, his gaze scanning Sophia’s face.
She was still here; thank goodness.
Sophia didn’t speak, walking directly to Zeke’s side, holding his arm.
"Grandfather, you should head back first."
"What would I go back for?"
Zeke glared coldly at Zane, "What did you promise me before? If you can’t control yourself, then there’s no need to stay there anymore!"
"Grandfather, I can handle this myself," Sophia didn’t want to strain relations between the two families.
Nor did she want too many people involved.
She just wanted to quietly resolve things.
Whether through divorce or leaving.
She didn’t want to remain here, being repeatedly made into a laughing stock.
Each mention brought a sting to her heart.
