Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 292: Kindred Spirits
Natalie Vaughn remembered watching the rally race that the ROX Club participated in last year.
Back then, she wasn’t really interested in watching races; she only went to see Zane Thorne.
She did see him eventually, but it was a bit awkward.
Now it’s different. Standing here, she felt her blood boiling. After experiencing the thrill of speed, she could no longer remain indifferent.
"Jennings, do your best and get into the top three."
As she said this, Natalie also made a cheering gesture with her hand.
Jay Sterling no longer obsessed over not calling Zane Thorne in the hotel this morning.
"Nina, don’t worry. I will definitely do my best!"
Natalie then looked at Hayden.
"Hayden, go win a championship!"
Jay Sterling: .....
"Nina, you’re showing favoritism. Why do you tell Hayden to win a championship but tell me just to get into the top three?"
Natalie’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
"Isn’t it you who thinks you can’t win a championship?"
Jay Sterling: ...
"That’s just what I think, but there’s no harm in you saying ’win a championship.’ You’re messing with my mindset by treating us differently."
Hearing this, Zane Thorne glanced at him.
"Is that all it takes to unsettle you?"
Jay Sterling: ...
He felt targeted.
Natalie saw Jay Sterling looking aggrieved and didn’t have the heart to tease him further.
"Then you should work hard too and bring back a championship."
Jay Sterling snorted.
"A delayed affection is as worthless as grass; it’s too late."
Natalie crossed her arms over her chest.
"Jennings, you’re wrong about that. Everything is equal. Why should grass be worthless?"
Jay Sterling pouted, his voice muffled.
"It’s just that you’re late."
"Then I’ll say it again: Do your best! Bring back a championship! I only told Hayden once, but I told you twice. Is that enough now?"
Jay Sterling: ... It’s a bit odd, but not unacceptable.
He then looked at Hayden with a proud gaze, like a little boy.
Hayden: ... Childish.
When the two of them left to take their positions, Zane Thorne pulled Natalie over.
"Why are you coaxing that kid Jay Sterling?"
"Are you jealous? Why be jealous of kids? They’re going to compete, so they need some encouragement and maybe win another championship for your club."
Zane Thorne snorted.
"The championship is for them to win for themselves."
Natalie smiled.
"Do you think they will win?"
Zane Thorne was silent for a while.
"There’s only one champion."
Natalie sighed after hearing this.
"It’s complicated now. When it’s your turn to race later, the younger ones will probably feel even more complicated."
"Why?"
"They’ll wonder if you can win, worry about mistakes, all sorts of things."
She understood how Zane Thorne’s parents felt when he wanted to race.
But Zane Thorne just smiled.
"You worry too much. With me here, there’s no need to worry about winning the championship."
Natalie: ....
"Who was it that told me they hadn’t raced in five years and lost their touch, and now you’re so confident?"
Zane Thorne chuckled softly.
"I’ve been training hard lately, haven’t I? And when Alan comes back, I’ll be fully committed to preparing for my comeback."
"Training means you can win a championship? What about Hayden?"
Upon hearing this, Zane Thorne pinched Natalie’s nose.
"Haven’t you said before that my talent and skills are better than that kid’s? Have you forgotten now?"
Natalie: ...
The deeper their relationship grew, the more childlike their conversations became. Such banter became increasingly common in their daily lives.
Zane Thorne, someone so untamed, willing to play these childish language games for the one he loves.
It really is a testament to the greatness of love.
Natalie never expected to find such a girlish side of herself in married life; perhaps it’s what they call willing dedication.
The race scene was electrifying. Natalie leaned on Zane Thorne, waving a ROX flag in her hand.
She occasionally raised her hand to her mouth like a megaphone, cheering for Jay Sterling and Hayden.
Zane Thorne felt sorry for her voice.
"Don’t shout like that, they can’t hear you anyway."
But Natalie disagreed.
"What do you know? It’s about the atmosphere. Even if they can’t hear, the sentiment is there."
"Will you shout like that during my race too?"
"Of course, even more passionately than now."
Natalie had imagined that scene countless times—she dreamed of standing on the sidelines, cheering for Zane Thorne.
Just thinking about such a scene made Zane Thorne feel happy. In the past, he raced to win championships. Now, his races held an additional hope.
"With you watching from the side, it would be hard not to win."
Natalie giggled.
"Will my shouts really reach you?"
"Yeah."
Natalie’s eyebrows twitched slightly.
"How can you hear it?"
"Because we have a special bond."
Natalie was silent for a moment, then took out her phone.
"Come on, say it again. I want to record it."
The world must have changed—Zane Thorne could even say something like ’we have a special bond.’
Zane Thorne: ....
Someone’s presence interrupted the couple’s sweetness.
"I heard you’re planning a comeback?"
An annoying voice.
Natalie looked over.
Oh, isn’t this the man she beat up in the restroom? How long has it been, and he’s already jumping around again? Looks like he forgot the pain once the scar healed.
Zane Thorne didn’t even bother acknowledging the man.
Danny shifted his gaze to Natalie.
"Bitch, just you wait. I’ll make sure you pay for the beating you gave me."
Zane Thorne turned abruptly, staring at him.
"Are you threatening my wife in front of me?"
Danny was startled by Zane Thorne’s intimidating gaze.
"Ha, all you can do is stick with your wife all the time. If you can’t do that, I’ll find an opportunity sooner or later."
Zane Thorne reached out and grabbed the man’s wrist casually, and there was a crunching sound of bones.
Danny’s screaming resonated.
But the people at the scene were so focused on the race, they didn’t notice this odd sound.
Natalie stepped forward, looked at Danny with a smile, and a curve appeared on her lips; however, she showed no mercy with her foot.
"Do you still want another beating? If you’re so eager to get hit, I won’t mind obliging. Last time, I wasn’t even finished."
The people around Danny moved to help, although Zane Thorne’s gaze stopped them. He let the hand go.
"If you harm my wife in any way, I promise your club and your family will suffer because of you. If you don’t believe it, go ahead and try."
The two of them didn’t want to waste time on a scumbag and moved to another spot to continue watching the race.
Natalie couldn’t help but complain.
"How can there be such an idiotic being?"
The harshness in Zane Thorne’s eyes had yet to dissipate completely.
"He might be stupid, but not everything he said was wrong. I can’t be with you all the time, and he can find out about your classes. I’ll have my bodyguards follow you, but don’t worry, they’ll keep their distance and won’t disturb you."
Natalie knew that abroad was much more chaotic than at home, so she didn’t refuse.
With bodyguards around, Zane Thorne could rest easy.
