Addiction to Temptation: His Mischievous Sweetheart Captivates Him-Chapter 317: Everything Is Targeted at Zane Thorne
Hearing this, the tension that had been keeping Huan Yuan’s body taut finally released, and he looked up cautiously and asked.
"Really?"
Zane Thorne stared into his bloodshot eyes for a long time, a surge of emotion rising within him. He clicked his tongue against his cheek and kicked the person lying on the ground.
Only when he heard a painful moan did Zane feel a bit of the pressure lift from his chest.
"Really, it was your sister-in-law Natalie Vaughn who made the call, there’s nothing major."
Upon hearing this news, Huan Yuan finally relaxed. He tugged at the corners of his mouth, trying to smile, but a tear trickled from the corner of his eye.
No one knew the situation back then better than he did.
He was pushed aside by Jay Sterling, and then witnessed Jay being hit by a car.
He heard the sound of the car colliding with a body and saw Jay covered in blood.
Thankfully, thankfully.
Jay is okay and can continue racing in the future.
Thankfully, thankfully.
He can still travel alongside Jay.
Zane arranged for an ambulance to get the person lying on the ground, while he made a call intending to head elsewhere.
He looked back at Huan Yuan who was still sitting on the ground.
"You go back first."
Huan Yuan’s mood had calmed slightly. He looked at Zane, whose expression was inscrutable but clearly indicated he was upset and very angry.
"God Thorne, you should go back with me too."
After making a call, Huan Yuan’s rationality returned as well.
While it’s right to seek justice for Jay, and it’s essential to seek justice for Jay, Zane would be returning to the racing circuit in just two months.
Causing such an incident would be detrimental not only to the club but also to Zane.
Evidently, Zane was heading to find Danny.
Huan Yuan stood up, his mouth in a determined line; those people wouldn’t say anything decent, but everyone knew about the entanglements between Zane and their club.
The more he thought about it, the more Huan Yuan felt he couldn’t let Zane go.
But how could he possibly stop Zane?
If he couldn’t stop him, he could only follow.
Along the way, Zane drove at breakneck speed. Huan Yuan’s hand hung by his side, trembling violently from the strain it had been under earlier.
Zane glanced over and then looked away.
Huan Yuan wasn’t much of a talker and didn’t know how to persuade Zane; all he knew to do was to call Natalie Vaughn.
He hoped Natalie could talk sense into Zane, but instead, she said.
"Don’t get yourself hurt."
Which meant: go ahead, just don’t hurt yourself.
At that moment, Natalie was just like Zane had been earlier. Zane had let Huan Yuan beat that person within an inch of his life, and Natalie was letting Zane go after Danny.
Only then did Huan Yuan realize that Natalie and Zane were the same kind of people at their core.
Vengeful, and if someone hurt their own, they would repay it a hundredfold.
But...
This was really not the right time.
He had waited five years, a whole five years, for God Thorne to return, and if this mess affected Zane’s comeback.
It wasn’t worth it.
Yet Huan Yuan didn’t know how to dissuade him.
The more he thought about it, the more his hand trembled.
Zane glanced at him again and finally made a U-turn at the next intersection.
Huan Yuan looked over, surprised, only to find Zane with a very grim expression.
He dared not speak. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
The car stopped at the hospital, and Huan Yuan followed closely behind Zane, assuming they were going to see Jay, but instead, Zane took him straight to the doctor.
"Check his hand."
Zane’s tone was flat, but Huan Yuan felt he was angry.
After examining, the doctor concluded.
Huan Yuan’s wrist was dislocated.
From hitting someone.
Zane squinted at him.
"You can’t tell if you’re hurt yourself?"
Huan Yuan said nothing.
Indeed, he couldn’t tell; anger had overwhelmed his senses, he only wanted to beat that man to death, caring nothing for his own hand.
It was numb from pain, trembling uncontrollably as they stopped.
A race car driver’s hands are crucial.
Which is why Zane would always be mindful of his stance and force even in a fight.
Huan Yuan’s way of fighting was a case of hurting the enemy a thousand, while harming himself eight hundred.
Huan Yuan sighed in relief.
He wasn’t sure if it was because Jay wasn’t too badly hurt or because his own injury had stopped Zane from pursuing Danny.
Either way, it was a relief.
Too much had happened that night, and they were exhausted.
Huan Yuan went to see Jay, bound in casts on his hands and legs, and refused to leave.
"I’ll stay here to keep an eye on things."
Natalie looked at his hand, a bit annoyed.
"You’re injured yourself, how can you take care of others? There are caregivers here, you go get some rest."
Huan Yuan stood his ground, lips tight, not speaking or leaving.
Natalie:...
Why is Huan Yuan so stubborn?
Zane watched Jay sleeping soundly, snoring, and finally relaxed his brows.
"Leave him be, if he wants to suffer, let him suffer, let’s go home."
Natalie opened her mouth, seeing the man standing stubbornly in the middle, unsure what to say. A hospital room wasn’t the place for chatting.
Fine, let it be.
Once outside the room, Natalie asked.
"Are you going out again?"
From what she knew of Zane, he wouldn’t let Danny go.
Zane indeed had the intention, but seeing the fatigue in Natalie’s eyes, he changed his mind.
He had overlooked it.
They had just returned from Lake Vesperia, the journey, though not too time-consuming, involved driving and flying. Upon arriving, they rushed to the hospital; after Jay’s surgery, she stayed by his side for a long time.
It was exhausting.
Zane felt a pang of guilt.
"No, let’s go home."
Natalie was a bit surprised but didn’t ask further.
Back home, after washing up, they went to rest. Natalie was physically tired yet mentally alert.
She was slowly becoming aware that something was off with this incident.
Many from Zane’s club had come, and compared to the domestic scene, training abroad was more developed.
While domestic racing advanced, staying in Brythania with Zane was the best choice for now.
But for so many people, targeting Huan Yuan and Jay?
They were the club’s most talented racers.
If anything went wrong that night, both of them could be ruined.
"I heard from Miles Rhodes that there were others involved in the events back then, have you figured it all out?"
Recently, Zane’s actions were evident, with all related to those past events being disgraced.
But if there was someone behind it, Zane’s moves were being closely watched.
Last time Danny targeted her, this time Danny went after Jay and Huan Yuan.
But from what she observed of Danny, she didn’t think someone lost in debauchery could orchestrate this.
It all seemed to be manipulating Zane’s emotions.
Worrying about her, concerning the club members.
