Adventurer's Guild Café: I Was Wrongfully Exiled by the Saint, So I Will Enjoy My Second Life with My Fluffy Friends-Chapter 1.3 - Welcome to the Adventurers Guild, "Shield of the Silver Wolf King"!
“Hey, Kuu-chan, would you like to work at our guild?”
Ruri said that around the time I had fully recovered. It had been about ten days, I think. My leg had healed, and I could walk properly now.
“W-Work?”
“Oh, only if you’d like to, of course…”
I blinked rapidly at Ruri’s suggestion.
…Work.
For me, who had lived in the country of Aluda, it was a surprising proposal. In Aluda, the status of demi-humans was low, and reputable workplaces only hired those recognized as “honorary humans.” Although they claimed to promote racial equality, it was far from equal.
I had no magical power and, above all, I was a beastkin. Not only was I considered useless, but the chances of even being allowed to stay were slim…
“I’m… useless, though…”
I gestured desperately to explain that I was just an ordinary beastkin and couldn’t do anything.
“Oh, it’s okay. It’s not anything too difficult. You can start with simple tasks and gradually learn more things bit by bit.”
Ruri said that with a smile.
“Actually, I already got Simon’s approval.”
“!”
“Simon said that if Kuu-chan didn’t have anywhere to go, he would love for you to try working with us.”
Surprised, my ears stood straight up.

“Of course, you’d receive a salary, and you can keep renting this room as well.”
“R-Really!?”
“Why would I lie about something like this?”
A-Amazing…
Even as a beastkin, even as a woman, I’m allowed to work…
“Well, I suppose it’s hard to imagine, isn’t it?”
After thinking for a moment, Ruri clapped her hands.
“That’s right! How about I show you around the guild now?”
“!”
Ruri nodded several times as if to say, “That’s a great idea!”
“Come on, let’s do it. Staying in this room must be boring, right?”
Ruri gave a playful smile.
“Ruu!”
As I drooped my ears and tail sadly, Lulu, who had been nibbling on an apple in a basket of fruit nearby, jumped up and came over to me.
Let’s go!!
She tugged at my clothes as if saying that.
“Lulu, do you want to come too?”
“Ruu!”
Now that I think about it, Lulu often leaves the room, but where does she go?
“Hehe. Lulu is quite the center of attention in the guild right now.”
“Huh? Really?”
“Yes, it seems she sometimes takes little strolls around the guild… Oh, don’t worry, Simon has already cleared it with everyone, so no one would ever harm her. Carbuncles are so rare, everyone’s fascinated by her.”
“Ruu~”
“Hey, Lulu, it’s fun outside the room, isn’t it?”
“Ru!”
Lulu nodded confidently, looking proud.
I couldn’t help but laugh at how funny it all seemed.
Ruri took my hand and said.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to protect you, Kuna-chan!”
“Now, let’s go!”
Ruri said, helping me stand up. Lulu climbed onto my shoulder.
The fluffy, soft fur brushed against my cheek. It smelled like sunshine, and it felt comforting.
Feeling reassured with Lulu by my side, I decided to explore the guild with Ruri.
◆
“Wow...”
The first time I stood in the central hall of the adventurer’s guild, I was overwhelmed by the vast space and the bustling crowd, letting out a small gasp.
The people there weren’t just humans. There were so many different kinds of demi-humans, more than I had ever seen before.
There were those with horns on their heads, ones with dragon scales, cats that walked upright, and tiny fairies with wings on their backs.
People of all ages and appearances were there.
A lively, unique music played within the guild, and everyone spoke loudly to be heard over it.
“Welcome! This is the adventurer’s guild, ‘Silver Wolf King’s Shield.’ Any concerns about your adventure can be resolved right here!”
“Adventurers about to set off, have you signed up for insurance yet? If not, don’t miss out! Our company’s ‘High Dungeon Course’ offers the best rates!”
“We’re announcing the results of the adventurer rank advancement exam! All examinees, please gather in the main conference room on the second floor!”
“The job board has been updated! After two months, we have an S-rank request!”
“Good luck on your journeys, everyone!”
Pressed by the excitement of the crowd, I clung tightly to Ruri.
...Amazing.
This was the first time I had ever been in a place with so many people.
And this guild... it was so huge.
“Hehe. Surprised?”
“…Yes. I had no idea there were so many people here.”
The place where I was recovering was apparently a room in the guild staff’s dormitory. Many of the staff were married or commuted from their own homes, so the dormitory wasn’t used much at the moment.
That’s why it was quiet, and I never imagined there would be so many people here.
“This place is one of the four major guilds that Grantania prides itself on. They call exploring dungeons ‘adventures,’ and any problems related to adventures can be solved right here.”
Ruri said this while gesturing towards several areas.
“Over there is the request mediation desk. If you bring a request sheet from that job board, you can accept a job. Then there’s the adventurer card application counter, and that’s the item appraisal room. The dwarf appraisers there are pretty fussy, too.”
“There’s even more!” Ruri continued, showing me various parts of the guild.
Apparently, this guild was a massive facility equipped with all kinds of functions. It had different sections spanning from the first to the third floor, and there was so much that I couldn’t remember everything from just one tour.
Wow, a facility this big was rare in Aluda Kingdom.
“Are you a bit tired?”
“No, just a little overwhelmed…”
Partly because I was still recovering, but mainly because the sheer number of people astonished me and sapped my energy.
This was the first time I had seen so many demi-humans interacting openly with one another.
And why was that? I felt as if eyes were on me…
“Hey, look, there’s a beastkin girl over there.”
“Wow, that’s rare.”
“Look at that, the Carbuncle!”
“Whoa, is that girl its master?”
T-T-They’re whispering about me.
“Ruu?”
I guess Lulu, sitting on my shoulder, really is rare. Ruri clapped her hands and spoke up.
“Alright, alright, no staring! Kuna-chan is still recovering.”
“So her name is Kuna-chan…”
I wonder if the attention is really because of Lulu being so rare… As my heart raced, Ruri took my hand.
“Lulu might be rare, but everyone is curious because you’re so cute, too, Kuu-chan. Now, shall we take a break?”
With that, Ruri led me to a quieter area on the first floor. It was a less crowded space at the edge of the guild, featuring a sun terrace. The tables and chairs scattered both indoors and out on the terrace had a well-worn, antique charm—or, to put it less kindly, were old and marked with many scratches.
There was also something that looked like a kitchen in the back, indicating that it was an area meant for eating and drinking. However, it was cordoned off with a small chain, preventing entry, and there was no one inside.
As I approached, I noticed a sign that read “Closed.” It seemed it wasn’t open yet.
“Here you go.”
“!”
Ruri confidently unfastened the chain and entered. I hurriedly tried to stop her, but she playfully laughed and pulled my hand.
“Hehe, it’s fine, it’s fine.”
“But…”
Seeing me follow her hesitantly, she said, “This shop is owned by my husband and I.”
“What?”
Ruri and her husband have a shop?
Wait, is Ruri married?
And what kind of shop does Ruri have?
