Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 231: Inbetween Floors
The girls decided to spend the day resting up after the battle earlier in the day. It was already evening by the time that Olivia was woken up by the smell of burning food, much to Violet’s embarrassment.
Still with Luna also up she set about using her own healing to get everyone fully patched up.
Saddly Olivia’s shield was entirely unusable, it had been torn in two from receiving that singular strike from the incarnation creature. Her armour was also in a sorry state, yet it held powerful regenerative properties so she assured the girls that it would be back to working order by morning. It wouldn’t be as sturdy as before however, that would likely take a couple of days for it to return to its previous strength.
With everyone healed up and fully fed, the girls soon retreated to bed for an early night.
Morning soon arrived to find Violet and Luna once more in a tangle of limbs with the covers somehow having been thrown off during the night. It took the girls some time to rouse themselves and get ready once more for the day.
After a hearty breakfast the girls were ready to see what awaited them at the monolith, it was said that dungeons sometimes rewarded people with treasures on each floor. It was not guaranteed mind you, but their was always a strong possibility. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Violet had also picked up the last key fragment which had been dropped by the space creature. She had done so after ensuring that Luna and Olivia were properly situated in the hut. So as they got closer to their destination Luna handed over the two other keys to Violet who went about trying to slot the last part into place.
They soon snapped together in a flash of white light, the aura they released finally combined together into one that felt whole, as opposed to the broken feel that they gave off previously.
The distance to the monolith was not too far, so it only took them around 10 minutes to arrive at its base.
At first they didn’t spot anything so began to circle around it. The pillar itself seemed to be made of a material similar to obsidian, it held a glassy texture yet when Violet tapped it with her sharp nails it produced a clear clink reminiscent of tapping on metal.
The monolith was also strangely warm to the touch, as if it had its own internal heating to it. Yet as curious as she was with the structure itself, she became much more interested in the giant gates installed on the far side of the structure.
The two colossal doors extended up for easily 20 meters, with the monoliths somewhat narrow size it was a slightly comical look, as if someone had taken gates similar to what they saw on city walls and then squeezed them to fit on a narrow structure.
Regardless of their comical appearance, a slot was present in the center of the doors and with a quick glance at the completed key in her hand which resembled a 3 pointed star. Violet was sure that the indentation in the door was where she was supposed to insert the key.
With nods from her friends Violet stepped up and slotted the complete key into the hole. Nothing happened for a moment, causing Violet to frown in confusion, wondering if their was still something that needed to be done to open up the gates.
Yet a orange glow soon began to emanate from the key, soon expanding out to seep out from the cracks between the 2 gates, causing the giant gates to be haloed in a blazing orange radiance.
The glow soon dimmed as a reverberating boom echoed out, soon followed by the door swinging outwards, Violet was forced to leap backwards to avoid being struck by the gates.
It only took a few seconds before the doors were fully opened, showing a similar sight to the portal they they first entered the dungeon with. A mostly white portal but with orange and blue hints, only with this one the orange was much more prominent than the previous portal.
"Well I guess we should head in? There is supposed to be a sort of safe room in between each floor right?" Luna’s asked the group, yet mainly at their resident expert Olivia.
Noticing the look Olivia straightened up slightly as she responded. "Y-yes, all dungeons should have a safe room, we may even get a reward."
Violet noted that although Olivia had still stuttered at the start she seemed a decent bit more comfortable around the girls today. Or at least a bit less nervous at the very least, Violet smiled at that hoping that the human would continue to get more comfortable as time progressed.
"Alright then let’s head in!" Violet stated as she began to walk into the portal, headless of the others who were forced to rush in after her whilst making some sounds of complaint.
The odd feeling of moving with extreme speed momentarily encompassed Violet, yet in moment she found herself I no a fairly nondescript stone room.
It was around 5x5 meters wide with 2 doorways on opposite walls, looking behind her she found no door or passage way that would lead them back to the first floor. The doorways were to the left and right respectively.
Yet it was what sat right in front of her that caught her attention. It was a wood chest with golden inlay that captured the dragons attention, when the other girls also arrived behind her they too fixated on the vest with excitement in their eyes.
"Treasure!" Called Violet with excitement as she rushed forwards once again, only stopping when she was standing in front of the chest.
"Wait for us you silly lizard!" Called Luna causing Olivia to let out a gasp of surprise and a snort of amusement from Susan. Violet meanwhile did freeze in place with one hand outstretched to open the chest, she turned around with faux innocence on her face causing Luna to roll her eyes. "We should all open it together." She stated.
"Yeah of course, I completely agree, who would ever want to open it by themselves! Ha, haha." Violet’s laugh was about as forced as it could possibly be causing both Luna and Susan to roll their eyes whilst Rhyana simply nodded in a slightly stiff manner having completely wanted to do just that herself, she only didn’t approach herself as Susan had held her arm as soon as they spotted the chest.
"Well then allow me the honour of opening it." Luna stated with a smile as she bent down as lifted up the lid of the chest. The girls all leaning in to see what kind of reward they could expect.
