After Apocalypse, I Got Rich With Superpower-Chapter 36 - 34
Chapter 36: Chapter 34
Chapter 36: Chapter 34
After breakfast at eight in the morning, they began the treatment. The Star Tree became increasingly adept at healing patients, working with Li Pan with even greater tacit understanding than at the beginning.
By three in the afternoon, all the critically ill patients brought by the Base Commander had been treated and cured, leaving the Base Commander as jubilant as a child.
“It’s still early, let’s see another group of patients after dinner. Since we’re already here, treating a few more won’t be a wasted trip.”
Li Pan saw that these people were heroes from the front lines of the base. Now that she had the ability, she felt she should contribute her part.
“Are you tired? If you’re tired, we can stop; the rest can wait.”
The Base Commander did not want to exploit her abilities but intended to cultivate Li Pan into a high-level Wood Power User, for high-level superpower users brought many benefits.
Other high-level Wood Power Users were also highly valued by the base, mostly responsible for simple treatments and growing precious medicinal plants and crops.
Generally speaking, having a middle-level Superpower User in the family meant a good life, almost without the need to eat bran, while high-level superpower users could support an entire family and live a life of luxury.
Previously, Xue Dong had been supporting Li Pan. She farmed alone and didn’t eat much, consuming less bran as a result.
“I’m fine. Let’s pick the patients whose conditions are worsening quickly, the middle and high-level Superpower Users can come over. I can treat most of them, and so far, I haven’t come across any particularly severe diseases. If I do, I’ll tell you.”
She had just started treating patients and hadn’t yet encountered any disease so peculiar that it was incurable, mostly due to limited exposure.
“Alright, I’ll make the arrangements.”
Upon hearing this, the Base Commander hurriedly went to summon people, pondering who was deteriorating rapidly, and prioritizing those who were the most well-behaved and honest.
After dinner, Li Pan began treating patients again, this time a group of ten.
News had somehow leaked, and the rich district, learning that the Base Commander had invited a high-level superpower user for treatment, also called to request treatment.
The rich district also employed superpower users to clear Mutant Beasts, or to escort goods to other regions. They had their own ways of making money and were not dependent on the base.
Leaving the base meant the possibility of injury, and the fact that they called as soon as they heard the news indicated that their information channels were also very efficient.
The Base Commander hung up the phone angrily; the news had leaked in just one day.
When the treatment was done, Li Pan hadn’t worked for nothing; she had earned ten thousand Contribution points, plus a cash transfer of over eighty thousand.
“Boss, I’d like to exchange some medicinal plant seeds and seedlings for Pan’er to try growing, along with other flower seeds. I want to tidy up our yard.”
“Okay, I’ll exchange the seeds for low-level medicinal plants for you first. Take it step by step. If you can grow them well, I’ll provide other resources later.”
“No problem.”
Gao Wenbin brought over the items, and Li Pan checked each one, fearing that if the seeds or seedlings were stored for too long, their life force would fade, making them useless to take back home.
“This is a Phoenix Wood sapling, very beautiful when grown and suitable for courtyards. This one is a white tea tree, this one is Wind Bell Wood, and this is a begonia. They’re very beautiful when they bloom. This is a Rose Tree. All these are trees that the rich district is willing to exchange to decorate their villas with. The poor don’t indulge in these.”
Gao Wenbin introduced each one, bringing over all the attractive trees.
“That’s great, Xue Dong, I want them all.”
“They’re all exchanged.”
“These are the flowers and plants for the yard, including mosquito repellent grass, mint, rosemary, and the like. I’ve brought you a variety of each, pretty much everything is here.”
“I want them all; I’ll take them back and make the yard beautiful.”
Li Pan smiled happily. She had always dreamt of a garden-style courtyard, full of flowers and trees, offering different sceneries throughout the four seasons, where she could sit and watch the clouds roll by and the flowers bloom and fade.
Life and survival are two distinctly different concepts, as well as attitudes toward living.
“Good, as long as you like it.”
Xue Dong looked at her beaming smile, nodding without hesitation. He hadn’t seen her this happy in a long time, her smile filled with sunny vitality.
Gao Wenbin spoke teasingly, “Are you sure about this? These things aren’t for eating or drinking, and their exchange prices aren’t low.”
The glaring mockery in his eyes, you’re so happy when a pretty girl smiles at you that you lose all sense of direction.
“Exchange it, Pan’er earned it with her own abilities and can spend it however she wants. The worst-case scenario, I’ll stay an extra day—there are still injured people here, aren’t there?”
The price for treating the injured is pretty high. If people from outside the base come for treatment, they have to pay double: one share of contribution points and points to the Wood Power Users responsible for treating the patients, and another share to the base, which could be in the form of medicinal materials, food, or other resources.
Usually, Wood Power Users request advancement materials from their own base to ensure safety.
“Fine, a lot more useful than you.”
Gao Wenbin looked at Xue Dong with disdain.
“How am I useless? Don’t look down on people, okay?”
Xue Dong was not pleased.
Li Pan laughed heartily as she looked upwards.
After a while, Xue Dong took Li Pan to rest.
Li Pan had treated patients all night, took a bath, and then went back to her dormitory to absorb the Wood Element Crystal Cores. These past few days of treatment had brought her many fresh experiences and revelations.
This process made her bond with her Companion Spirit Plant increasingly close, and meanwhile, the Star Tree became more adept and flexible, showing a slight growth.
She also delved further into exploring the many secrets of the Star Tree.
After absorbing fifteen Tier 1 Crystal Cores and finally feeling satiated, Li Pan was so sleepy that she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
A wood vine quietly extended, pulling the quilt over her and closing the door and windows before retracting.
As the first light of dawn streamed through the window, Li Pan got up. After getting ready, Xue Dong knocked on her door.
“Are you up?”
“I’m ready, are we heading home now?”
“Let’s take a walk around the marketplace to buy some things before we head back.”
“We also need to buy salt and a loom. The cotton is ready to be picked, and we can use it to make cotton jackets and such as well.”
Li Pan remembered she had written a list and quickly took it out to check.
“Let’s also get one of those machines for wool yarn; the sheep need shearing, and we could use the wool yarn to make things.”
“Right, I forgot about that.”
Li Pan quickly took out her pen and noted it down.
The livestock at home had expanded over these few months, with the flock gaining eight new lambs, a new calf born to the cows, and broods of ducklings and goslings hatched, not to mention the chickens that had become so numerous they were now divided into two pens.
“Should we raise a few rabbits?”
“Those things burrow holes. If you want to raise them, wait until we come back from the forest to catch some.”

“Let’s raise a few. After all, they provide meat, and rabbit fur can be used.”
“Let’s also catch a few piglets; domestic pork sells well.”
Li Pan nodded at Xue Dong’s words, knowing that next year the farm would have even more crops than this year. With more hands, they wouldn’t worry about unfinished work.
After breakfast, they went to the marketplace. They bought some salt, spices, sewing kits, and other small items. With two more siblings planning to stay long-term, they purchased additional linens, bedding, clothes, and such.
They also bought maintenance tools for farm equipment, along with some cement and sand, planning to improve the drainage ditches around the yard and fields to prevent waterlogging.
Xue Dong was planning to find a spot to build a water storage pond in advance, fearing drought. This year’s rainy season was not as long as the last; the previous year had a month of rain, so he was understandably anxious. Preparing in advance wouldn’t hurt anything.
