...
That evening, in front of the Rust Wall District Police Station in New Moon City.
Two sheriffs were pushing Dongdong out. She was still as filthy as ever, with her left arm missing, leaving only an empty sleeve.
The sheriff unlocked Dongdong's ankle cuffs and shoved her out: "Get going, be careful in the future. You're still young, why commit crimes?"
Dongdong extended her hand in dissatisfaction: "Where's my arm? Give it back."
The sheriff said coldly: "Confiscated."
Dongdong exploded in anger: "What the hell! That's my arm! What do you mean by confiscated?!"
The sheriff sneered: "Your arm is a prosthetic. According to regulations, it's considered a crime tool, so it must be confiscated." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Another colleague chimed in: "You should be grateful. We checked, your spine is also an Ordinary Management Level 3 prosthetic. According to regulations, it should've been confiscated too, but if we did you'd be dead, so we let you keep it."
Dongdong laughed in anger: "Oh, should I thank you then?"
The sheriff impatiently said: "Stop the lip service! Smuggling is a serious crime. You're just lucky you're underage, otherwise you'd be sentenced to three to five years straight."
He pointed afar: "Get lost!"
Dongdong stood still, feeling shut down.
Suddenly...
"Tui!" She spat on the sheriff, then bolted away.
"What the hell?!" The sheriff was furious, instinctively wanting to chase.
His colleague held him back, saying helplessly: "Forget it, what good would catching her do? Can't lock her up for long. This little punk is a regular at the precinct, don't waste time on her. It's almost time to clock off, I'll buy you a drink."
The sheriff took out a tissue to wipe off the spit from his clothes, cursing in Dongdong's direction: "Next time she comes in, I'll make sure to give her a beating!"
...
Night falls.
In the Border District, lights were dim and the music from nightclubs and dance halls echoed constantly, heralding the beginning of nightlife.
A remote corner of an alley.
Four young men gathered to play poker. They looked about twenty and wore dirty, old leather jackets, with a sinister street vibe in their eyes.
The leader spat on the ground: "Damn it, that batch of goods got seized by those dog sheriffs again. I really want to kill their families."
Beside him, a plump young man said: "Be content, Pique, at least we all managed to escape. If we got caught, we wouldn't be out for three to five years."
Pique cursed with a laugh: "Old Fatty, I really didn't expect you to run so fast, I thought you were going to be caught with that pink-haired idiot."
Old Fatty rubbed his round belly: "Then you wouldn't see me for years… Hey, what do you think happened to her?"
Pique said indifferently: "Who cares about her, we barely knew her for a few days anyway."
Old Fatty's face turned lecherous, making a kneading gesture with his hands: "Such a pity, I wanted to trick her into bed. She's really cute."
"Yo~ who's calling me cute?" Suddenly, a sweet voice rang out.
The young men were startled, turning their heads towards the direction of the voice.
They saw Dongdong crouched on a nearby platform, looking down at them, holding a broken baseball bat she picked up from somewhere, swinging it over her shoulder, and blowing bubble gum.
Dongdong sucked back the bubble and chewed, looking at the surprised young men, speaking in a cute tone: "Why the orphan-like faces? Isn't Mommy here? Good evening, sons."
Pique asked in surprise: "How'd you get out so soon?"
Dongdong blinked coyly, saying: "I'm only 14, you know~ not an adult yet~"
Pique's gaze drifted, and he asked in a deep voice: "What do you want?"
"Tui!" Dongdong spat out the bubble gum and jumped off the platform.
She approached them, her expression turning cold: "Want? You tell me. You bunch of idiots from *Civilized Border*, we had a deal to support each other, but when the sheriffs came you locked me in the car as bait?"
Pique brazenly yelled: "Nothing happened to you, right? Why make a fuss?"
Dongdong cursed: "Screw you, my arm got dismantled, and it cost me thousands for that second-hand prosthetic. You tell me not to make a fuss?"
Old Fatty chimed in: "Enough is enough, my boss is the leader around here. If you annoy Pique, you won't be able to mix here."
"Leader around here? You bunch of garbage?" Dongdong swung the baseball bat and said coldly, "I don't want much, I lost an arm, so you leave an arm too, that's fair."
Street life people aren't the friendly sort, fights break out easily over a disagreement.
Pique waved his hand: "Get her!"
"Come on! I'll kill you!" Dongdong charged at the four head-on.
Dongdong dodged the steel pipe coming at her, and swung the baseball bat round, smashing it on a young man's mouth.
Only hearing a "dong," a piercing scream rang out, the beaten young man fell down with blood all over his mouth, teeth scattered everywhere.
The young man's companion took advantage of the chaos, grabbed Dongdong's neck, and shouted: "I've got her! Kill her!"
Experienced in brawls, Dongdong immediately used her head to fiercely hit the young man, bending his nasal cartilage, making him stagger back in pain.
Freed from the restraint, Dongdong swung backhand, her baseball bat swung viciously from below up between the young man's legs.
"Dong!"
A dull sound came, the swatted young man didn't even make a sound, passing out on the ground, twitching. His happiness in life just utterly ruined.
Old Fatty saw this scene, feeling chilled all over, unconsciously clenching his legs tight, intimidated by Dongdong's ruthless hand.
Just then, a shadow appeared behind Dongdong.
Pique, being the leader of the gang, had some skills. While Dongdong took out his companion, he made his way to her blind spot, grabbing a beer bottle and smashing it into her head.
