After Beating the Game, I Became the Villain BOSS-Chapter 55 - 51: Repaying Kindness
Looking at the handwritten letter Nuobai had written to Audiana, Su Mo sat down on the ground with a sigh of relief, holding his forehead and mumbling, "I’ve become deeply indebted to her this time."
Audiana’s expression turned somewhat wistful: "Nuobai is a very good girl, she always has been. My biggest regret these past few years is not being able to get her the gene compilation protein, forcing her to turn to Elder Tang."
Su Mo smiled: "Isn’t that the truth? Such a good girl, just gone like that... But maybe it’s for the better. The next time we see Nuobai, she’ll surely have undergone a rebirth."
Audiana questioned: "By the way, what do you know about Nuobai’s illness? Her quick retreat suggests she got cured. Did Elder Tang really give her the gene compilation protein? And what happened with Elder Tang’s death?"
Su Mo closed the envelope: "What you need to know, Nuobai has told you in her letter. What she doesn’t want to say, I won’t tell on her behalf."
Audiana shrugged to show her understanding.
She looked at the black core in the box and asked, "What do you plan to do with this?"
Su Mo: "It’s mine now?"
Audiana: "It’s yours, as payment for this job. You could find a hacker to erase the data inside about you, and then sell it, making more money than you could spend in a lifetime."
Su Mo chuckled lightly and picked up the black core.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" He directly threw the black core to the ground until it shattered, and then tossed the fragments into the fireplace, burning them to dust beyond restoration.
After destroying the black core, he said calmly, "Money can be earned slowly; safety is most important. I’m not greedy to that extent."
Audiana’s gaze turned approving.
She took out a business card and had McCarthy hand it to Su Mo: "I’ve saved your number in my address book. I’ll contact you if I have a job for you."
Su Mo nodded: "Thank you, Lady Countess, for looking out for me."
"You can leave now, go home and get a good night’s sleep..." Audiana started to say, suddenly remembering something, "Oh, I almost forgot, here’s another small favor for you."
The moment Audiana finished speaking, a sudden change occurred.
"Thud." A side door in the hall opened, and a panic-stricken KK was brought in by Rigid Bone.
Rigid Bone kicked KK to the ground, pressing heavily on his back with booted foot, then drew a gun and aimed at the back of his head.
KK looked at Su Mo in terror, his voice trembling uncontrollably: "Big brother?..."
Su Mo looked at Audiana, his gaze turning cold: "What do you mean by this?"
Audiana: "What do you think it means? Do I even need to explain? Only the people in this room were involved in the heist."
"You don’t have to worry about my people. But this little rat got mixed up in it, do you really intend to keep him around?"
Su Mo: "That’s my business, and it has nothing to do with you, Lady Countess."
Audiana: "Of course it has to do with me. If he leaks information later, it won’t just be your secret that’s exposed."
Su Mo: "He doesn’t even know what we stole! Plus, he’s just one person, with nothing to back him up. Even if he talks, who would believe him?"
"This matter has been neatly wrapped up, and there’s no danger anymore, so why fixate on a small fry like him?"
Audiana: "You yourself said he’s a small fry, so what’s the difference between keeping him and eliminating him? Rigid Bone."
Rigid Bone pressed down harder, exuding a murderous aura.
KK lay on the ground in despair, his eyes growing dim and hopeless, the increasingly heavy pressure nearly suffocating him.
Su Mo clenched his fists silently, his gaze growing increasingly oppressive.
Audiana smoked, her tone becoming more relaxed: "Young man, let me give you a piece of advice, you’re meant for great things, you need to learn to let go. Don’t get too emotionally invested in such small people."
"Besides, what do you see in him? Is he that good at stealing?"
"In my address book, I have at least fifty master thieves who can do more than petty theft. They can steal the City Council President’s statue weighing twenty tons right in front of the City Hall with dozens of sheriffs guarding it."
"If you want, I can make a phone call and have them work with you, you don’t have to worry about connections. Small rats like the one beside you should be used and discarded as needed."
The hall fell silent, only KK’s trembling breaths echoed through the air.
KK dared not meet Su Mo’s eyes, afraid of seeing cold, disdainful eyes.
He kept his head down, staring blankly at the floor in front of him, tears inadvertently welling up in his eyes and falling to the ground.
"Click." The safety on the handgun was turned off, and Rigid Bone’s finger was on the trigger.
Just as Rigid Bone was ready to pull the trigger, Su Mo suddenly walked to his side and looked up at Audiana.
"Lady Countess, I have never thought of myself as a good person, but I’m not a beast either. I have my own principles and bottom line."
"If you think I’m too sentimental, unable to let go, then I’m sorry to disappoint you. After this, let’s part ways amicably and not cooperate again."
"But if you decide to deal with me long term, understand this principle, and I will only say it once."
The strength of the Mad Corpse Blood Code surged in Su Mo’s body, the pale Rigid Bone encased his hands, turning into claws.
"Crack!" The claws grabbed the gun aimed at KK’s head and crushed it.
Su Mo, full of resolve, said heavily to Audiana: "For those who have sincerely helped me, never, ever point a gun at their head."
After saying this, he swiftly seized the gun from Rigid Bone’s hands and tossed it to the ground in front of Audiana.
Audiana and Su Mo’s eyes met, sparks seemed to fly in their gazes.
Rigid Bone watched Su Mo coldly, awaiting the Countess’s next command.
It was unclear how much time passed before Audiana’s gaze softened. She exhaled a smoke ring and smiled: "Nuobai didn’t misjudge you. You can leave... you both can leave."
Su Mo thought to himself: I knew this woman was testing me... in the plot, she also tested the protagonist in a similar situation. During my first playthrough, I even made the wrong choice...
Su Mo pushed Rigid Bone aside, gently placing his hand on KK’s head: "Are you okay? Let’s go."
KK, timidly rose, wiping away tears and sobbing: "I... my legs are weak... I can’t stand..."
Su Mo turned and half-knelt on the ground, arching his back softly: "Come on, big brother will carry you."
KK sniffled, shuffled over to Su Mo’s back, and clung tightly around his neck.
Su Mo carried KK out of the hall, both disappearing into the breaking dawn.
After they left, Rigid Bone went upstairs and whispered in Audiana’s ear: "Shall I secretly deal with that little rat? I can make it look like an accident, Su Mo wouldn’t find out."
Audiana flicked ash into an ashtray, giving Rigid Bone a cold glance: "If you were to kill, you should have done it on the spot. Letting him go is letting him go; I don’t indulge in petty tricks."
Rigid Bone realized he had overstepped and nodded, backing away.
