Chapter 837: Chapter 837: The Ultimate Drama Queen

Zoe Lewis remained indifferent, silently grateful that she had thrown away all the keys to the house, and the door was sturdy enough. Otherwise, Cherry Lewis might have barged in at any moment.

She wondered if Cherry had worn the clothes she had washed last night. If not, the powder would lose its effectiveness after today.

She groggily slept until nine-thirty. After getting up, she hastily washed up, casually tied her hair into a bun, and went downstairs to eat.

Just as she reached the living room, she suddenly noticed there was someone new in the house!

Wearing a white sports T-shirt and light gray Nike pants, he had the same clear and handsome features as when they first met, exuding an air of elegance.

Time seemed to have left no trace on him; he was still as young and vibrant as he was in college.

Zoe called out to him softly, "Lucas...senior..."

Lucas Patel chuckled, "Hey, junior! Just woke up? That’s not a good habit. You should go to bed early and get up early to stay healthy!"

Cherry jumped in to mock Zoe, "Sorry for the laugh, Lucas. My sister got up relatively early today. Usually, she won’t get up before noon because I’ve spoiled her."

Zoe, as if waking from a dream, let out a cry before turning around to run back to her room, slamming the door shut, and hurriedly changed clothes, washed her face, and combed her hair.

After tidying herself up, she walked out of the room again.

Her expression was anxious, her actions flustered, but in reality, her heartbeat was quite steady.

She touched her chest, finding it strange. In the past, whenever she saw Lucas Patel, her heart would race uncontrollably. Why was she so calm today?

Something’s wrong. She had acted too much, and now her heart was having issues.

Zoe laughed at herself bitterly. Was she really what they called a "drama queen"?

She composed her expression, timidly and hesitantly walking to Lucas Patel, and in a soft voice said, "Hello, senior."

After saying those three words, she hid behind Cherry, looking as if she was too shy to face anyone.

Lucas Patel wasn’t surprised; in his impression, Zoe had always been like this.

Timid, afraid of trouble, always hiding behind her sister, acting as her shadow, and always the most inconspicuous person in a crowd.

He only noticed her because he was entangled in a massive sexual assault scandal before graduation.

He managed to come out unscathed because Zoe helped settle the situation.

Of course, that was the extent of their connection. His interactions were far more frequent with Cherry, once the pride of their generation.

This time, Cherry had called him over, claiming that there were new leads on that old sexual assault case.

Lucas had arrived at eight o’clock and had been sitting there for an hour and a half, listening to Cherry talk about this and that, never getting to the point about the leads.

His patience was running thin, his smile wiped clean from his face, his expression turning serious, "Cherry, stop beating around the bush. What exactly are the leads? Just tell me directly. If you want something in exchange for them, just say so; as long as I can do it, I will."

The sexual assault case back then was like a sword hanging over his head. Although he narrowly escaped, no one knew if it would be brought up again. He needed to get solid evidence to prove his innocence.

Cherry loved this feeling of controlling someone else’s life. She spoke leisurely, "I don’t lack anything. I just hope you can fulfill a little wish for my sister."

Zoe’s face turned pale, "Sister, don’t say anything like that. I don’t have any wishes!
