After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 903: Let’s Go for a Picnic After All
The dinner was exceptionally slow.
Ryker couldn’t understand how girls have so much to talk about.
Zoe Lewis didn’t mind at all; talking with her mom all afternoon wasn’t enough, she continued chatting non-stop with Isabella Weaver in the evening.
When they finally finished eating, Ryker got up to pay the bill.
By the time dinner ended, there were hardly any people left in the restaurant.
Harry Hunter took Isabella Weaver home, while Ryker drove Zoe Lewis back home.
"We’ll continue tomorrow, Secretary Left. Harry and I have booked you for two days. Is there anywhere you want to go tomorrow?"
Ryker drove with a blank expression; he wanted to dig coal, would she go?
This girl really had too much energy; after wandering all day, she was still full of life, and even looking forward to tomorrow?
He was not looking forward to it at all.
He was mentally exhausted.
Zoe didn’t mind the lack of response, just like Left-Mom said, if Ryker responded to one in ten things she said, she’d be lucky.
Even with his mom, it was the same; naturally, with her as well!
"Do you think we should go for a picnic?"
At the mention of a picnic, Ryker was slightly intrigued and finally showed some interest.
"We could invite Isabella, she loves the dishes I make, especially the little whitebait."
Hmm, I like them too.
"Plus, pregnant women shouldn’t be cooped up at home too much; getting out and breathing fresh air is good for the baby! Secretary Left, do you like babies?"
What do you mean? Even if I liked you, could you give me a baby?
"If you don’t like picnics, we can go shopping tomorrow instead. We haven’t visited the shopping street yet today, chatting took too much time, we talked too long at lunch."
You noticed!!
No way, we can’t go to the shopping street!
My mom might decide to go there tomorrow!
Plus, the street is so long you can’t see the end; wandering there with Zoe would be utterly exhausting!
After quickly considering countless thoughts, Ryker finally concluded: "Let’s go for a picnic."
Hearing him make a decision, Zoe eagerly nodded: "Great, great! I’ll message Isabella to invite her."
Ryker breathed a sigh of relief, somewhat looking forward to it.
He would get to taste the delicious, tender little whitebait again, and this time he planned to grab a few more, disregarding face or anything else.
After dropping Zoe home, he drove back to his own house.
The Left family lived in a prime spot in the city center, the community exclusively inhabited by the rich or noble, each home a standalone villa, which is rare in the land-scarce A City.
However, the Left family started with coal mining, making a fortune over twenty years ago and becoming sudden upstarts.
Thus, the décor style in Ryker’s house also unabashedly revealed a mix of opulence and extravagance.
"Oh dear, son, you’re back!"
Left-Mom promptly ran over upon seeing him: "Did you come back alone?"
Ryker grumbled: "What do you expect? For me to bring a dog home?"
Left-Mom angrily gave him a light smack: "Keeping a dog would be more useful than you; all you do is irritate me. Where’s your wife? Why didn’t you bring her home?"
Ryker answered her coldly and headed upstairs.
"Ryker has a girlfriend now?"
The former coal boss, Left-Million, was thrilled, shouting to his son climbing the stairs: "Where’s your wife? Why didn’t you bring her home?"
Ryker was too lazy to respond; his dad was his mom’s echo machine, always repeating the same things.
If he engaged, it would never end.
Even if he explained, they wouldn’t listen.
"Ah, forget it, perhaps they’re just getting to know each other, and the girl is shy; it’s fine! Honey, you haven’t seen her, but my future daughter-in-law is a real beauty, so charming, with a wonderful personality! I’ve arranged for her to visit our place; in a couple of days, you’ll meet her!"
