After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 923: A Man’s Heart Is Like a Needle at the Bottom of the Sea
After David finished speaking, he went to sleep on his own, and started snoring shortly after, his quality of sleep astonishing Lefty.
Lefty couldn’t fall asleep at all, and it wasn’t until Grace came in to switch shifts that he managed to separate himself from Zoe, letting Grace sleep in the middle. He finally felt much more at ease.
Grace slept so peacefully, not clinging to people, which was much better than Zoe.
Within a short while, that girl had rolled over onto Grace, hugging him tightly, restlessly rubbing against him.
No wonder she refused to sleep next to Jace; she probably knew about this habit of hers.
As the sky grew slightly brighter, Lefty finally managed to fall asleep.
But he hadn’t slept long before something woke him up again.
Opening his eyes, it was already broad daylight. The bodyguards had left the tent, and Zoe was holding back laughter next to him, teasing him with a small lock of hair!
Lefty pressed down on her mischievous hand, tiredly closing his eyes again. This girl was surely going to wear him out.
"Don’t mess around."
He muttered these two words in a low, lazy, and sexy morning voice, quite different from his usual aloof demeanor.
Hearing his voice, Zoe’s heart skipped a beat suddenly.
Her hand was still pinned under his, and she couldn’t pull it out.
Their skin touched, and his warm body heat transferred to her skin, making her face flush lightly. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
She still wasn’t used to being this close to the opposite sex.
If she’d known, she wouldn’t have come to tease him; she had no idea what got into her again to bother him like this.
The atmosphere became quite odd, and Zoe felt such silence made her heartbeat unusually fast. She quickly spoke up: "It’s past seven, get up, why are you still sleeping!"
Why am I still sleeping?
Isn’t it all your fault!
Lefty opened his eyes again, and immediately met her shimmering eyes. Her skin was as red as a cooked shrimp, and perhaps she wasn’t even aware of it.
He wanted to get angry with her, but his anger inexplicably disappeared.
He released her hand and got out of the tent.
Zoe was still lying there, a bit dazed.
Was Lefty angry again? Did she say something wrong again?
A man’s heart is as unpredictable as a needle in the ocean!
She just couldn’t figure out what he was thinking.
Could it be that Secretary Zuo has a serious case of morning grumpiness?
Zoe thought about it for a moment and found this answer more reasonable, instantly stopping her from overthinking.
She walked out of the tent, stretched lazily, watching David and the others busy themselves, observing Harry Hunter personally using a towel soaked in spring water to wipe Isabella Weaver’s face and hands. Breathing in the fresh mountain air and listening to the melodious calls of birds and insects, she felt happy again.
Only when Harry went to wash his face did Zoe dare to run to Isabella’s side and hug her: "Isabella, Isabella, did you sleep well?"
Isabella chuckled lightly: "Quite well, how about you?"
Zoe answered cheerfully: "I slept well too! I’ll make you something delicious to eat!"
"That’ll be a lot of work for you. I’ll have Young Master Hunter reward you later."
"No need, I’m really enjoying this outing with you guys. Everyone’s doing something, and I’m just in charge of cooking. It’s really easy!"
After chatting with Isabella for a bit, Zoe noticed Harry’s gaze sweeping over and quickly let go, dashing away like a mouse spotting a cat, not daring to meet Harry’s eyes at all.
Isabella turned around to find Harry looking at her disapprovingly: "Don’t let others hug you. What a bad habit she has!"
Isabella embraced him, laughing as she said: "She’s a girl, hugging me isn’t that unusual?"
