After Divorce: Remarried to a Tycoon with Twin Babies-Chapter 178: The Wedding Night, Hard to Endure!
Zack shook his head, frowning, "Poppy didn’t tell the adults."
"There were more children at the orphanage back then than there are now. The house was also smaller."
"It was normal for ten or twenty of us to sleep in one room, so the adults neither had the chance nor the mood to notice these small things."
"Poppy was afraid of being driven away, and we were all afraid that if Poppy spoke up, the director mother would misunderstand us as troublemakers, so we really didn’t report it as young kids."
"Looking back now, we were too terrified."
Because of fear, the wicked were able to hurt us time and time again.
Because of fear, we thought it was an enormous issue, afraid we’d lose our home at the orphanage too.
Vivian Sinclair looked at the nurse’s photo in the picture, trembling with anger.
She felt an immense heartache for Catherine.
Especially thinking about how Catherine suffered so much hardship at the orphanage in her place, while she lived like a princess in the Sinclair Family, made her wish she could immediately bring that nurse to justice!
Until a large hand gently wrapped around Vivian Sinclair’s small one.
Julian Thorne stood up and pulled her into his arms.
"Let’s go downstairs."
He glanced at Zack, who quickly turned and left.
Felix and the others also retreated one by one.
The entire living room soon had only Vivian Sinclair and Julian Thorne left.
Julian Thorne cupped Vivian Sinclair’s face and asked, "Can you tell me what happened?"
He could go investigate directly.
But he didn’t.
He waited for Vivian Sinclair to speak.
With reddened eyes, Vivian Sinclair was so stifled inside that she could hardly breathe, and when Julian Thorne asked, her tears rolled down as she explained the truth about her and Catherine Sinclair’s identities.
She also mentioned that she was investigating the nurse who swapped their identities back then.
Julian Thorne wiped her tears, "So, what’s going on with Caleb Crawford?"
Vivian Sinclair said, "Do you remember last time my teacher got injured and I asked you to help find that neurology expert J?"
"There’s still no clue in the teacher’s case."
"I’m also investigating this person. I suspect he is connected to my teacher’s injury."
After hesitating for a moment, Vivian Sinclair didn’t mention that she received a bouquet of flowers every day from someone named Crawford.
Now Patrick Powell was also following the clues in the investigation, and there should be a result soon.
Seeing her heavy-hearted, Julian Thorne simply smiled lightly, "Our Vivi is amazing."
"You’ve come this far step by step."
"It’s truly not easy."
"I feel really proud of you."
"But don’t forget. You now have a powerful background."
"That’s me, your husband, Julian Thorne."
"Vivi, it’s okay. I’ll wait for you, take your time."
He waits for her to open up and say she needs his help.
Waits for her to fully trust him, to entrust everything to him.
So now, Julian Thorne is willing to just be a listener.
"As always, you can use my influence to handle anything."
"Don’t forget what my name represents."
He gave Vivian Sinclair tremendous reassurance, and even now, Vivian Sinclair still hadn’t completely grasped what the name ’Julian Thorne’ truly represented.
She had never thought about it either.
Until now, looking into his sincere eyes, she seemed to faintly understand.
She didn’t have to exhaust herself managing everything alone.
He wanted her to rely on him.
It’s just that she hasn’t fully learned to entirely trust one person again.
So, she still needed time to adjust, time to fully accept Julian Thorne’s presence.
The two of them returned upstairs together.
Julian Thorne directly pushed Vivian Sinclair into the bathroom, "Go wash up, it’s time to sleep."
"We’ll talk about everything tomorrow."
Vivian Sinclair felt much better after pouring her heart out.
So she obediently went to the bathroom.
When she was soaking in the bathtub, she suddenly realized, wait!
Did he already move into my room?
Just now, she seemed to notice some things that didn’t belong to her placed on that big red bed!
For example, a set of men’s pajamas...
Oh no, it’s over.
Vivian Sinclair sank lower, wishing she could just drown herself.
However, remembering it might harm the baby’s health, she quickly sat up again.
By the time Vivian Sinclair dawdled out of the bathroom, half an hour had passed.
Her head was still wrapped in a dry hair cap, and she wore a long-sleeve and long-pants pink silk pajama set, topped with a bathrobe.
Only then did she tiptoe out of the bathroom.
Surveying the area, confirming Julian Thorne was not in the bedroom, Vivian Sinclair just breathed a sigh of relief when the door gave a soft ’click’.
Soon after, Julian Thorne walked in holding a phone.
Seeing Vivian Sinclair emerge fresh from the bathroom, Julian Thorne’s gaze gently fell on her.
He had no intention of letting her off the hook.
"Finally dare to come out?"
He sat down beside the sofa and patted the spot next to him.
"Come here."
"You wouldn’t be too afraid to even sit next to me, right?"
"Afraid I’ll eat you?"
Vivian Sinclair’s stubborn mouth, "How—how could that be?"
"Who—who’s afraid?"
"I wasn’t scared into growing up!"
Saying so, she marched over with a show of boldness and resolve, her expression serious yet courageous.
Once she sat primly in the corner, hands on her knees, gripping her pants, Julian Thorne simply removed her dry hair cap.
"Aren’t you afraid of catching a cold?"
Then he personally began to blow dry her hair with a hairdryer.
What surprised Vivian Sinclair was how professionally and gently Julian Thorne handled her hair drying, a touch both unexpected and tender.
This isn’t the first time I’ve done this for a girl.
Could it be...
Julian Thorne seemed to see right through her wild thoughts and said expressionlessly, "When Stella was little, she wasn’t afraid of me. Whenever I had time, I would personally blow-dry her hair."
"So, don’t speculate wildly."
Vivian Sinclair: "...Oh."
Of course, that’s what she originally thought.
Vivian couldn’t help but remark, "You’re really a good brother."
It reminded her of Elias Sinclair.
They were both brothers.
Elias Sinclair controlled everything about Vivian.
One could say that Vivian was meticulously raised like a doll by him since childhood.
If Vivian hadn’t developed a rebellious spirit, secretly expressing and venting her adolescence anxieties through painting, she might have turned into another Wendy Warren today.
At the thought of that possibility, she couldn’t help but shudder.
Taking her husband as her guide, her brother as her principle, and her father as her heaven?
Wouldn’t she have been devoured whole long ago?
Not to mention gaining this friendship with Catherine Sinclair.
Vivian Sinclair was thinking about these things, propping her chin up and slowly closing her eyes.
By the time Julian Thorne put away the hairdryer, she had already fallen asleep.
Julian Thorne tapped her nose, "Not afraid I’ll swallow you up now?"
Then, he gently picked her up and softly placed her under the covers.
When he came back out after washing up, Vivian had already curled herself into a ball on her side.
Her rounded belly in the middle looked so endearing.
Julian Thorne slid in from behind, wrapping her gently in his arms.
Nev having slept so closely with anyone before, Vivian woke up instantly.
"Ah."
She gave a startled, soft cry.
Julian Thorne tightened his embrace, "Don’t be afraid."
"Don’t worry, I won’t do anything to you."
Vivian: ...
Now she was completely awake.
Her limbs were a bit stiff, not daring to move, she nervously asked, "Re-really?"
Julian Thorne made a low ’mm’ sound.
"You don’t trust me?"
"Though I asked Jason."
"He said it’s fine to make love during the middle of pregnancy."
"But you’re carrying two babies."
"Vivi, just like you, I’m eagerly waiting for them to come into the world healthily. So I won’t do anything that might harm them."
"Even though I really want to."
"I bet you can feel just how much I want to."
"But I, Julian Thorne, can wait patiently. It’s only a few months, not a few years."
"Do you think I can’t handle such a small thing?"
Little did Julian Thorne know, he would pay a great price for these reckless words.
Though being able to hold his wife to sleep each night was an extremely happy and fulfilling thing, to a man in his prime like himself, having such a soft and beautiful woman sleeping in his arms but not being able to touch her, was also a torturous agony of slow-burning days.
This few months of waiting even gave him the illusion that it was longer than the first twenty-seven years of his life...
Vivian secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
If that’s truly what he thought, she could completely relax.
She had wanted to gradually accept and get used to his presence.
And from when they confirmed their relationship to when they got their marriage license, it could be described as ’swift’.
Vivian’s heart wasn’t prepared yet.
Now she could slowly adapt to this marriage and accept the intimacy with him.
Just like Julian Thorne said.
Because of his embrace, Vivian could clearly feel Julian Thorne’s desire.
She felt a bit awkward and wanted to move forward.
But as soon as she moved her hips a bit, Julian Thorne immediately held her waist: "Don’t move."
Hearing his heavy breathing, Vivian then realized that she had probably stirred him up again.
She stiffened like a plank, but Julian Thorne still turned over and got out of bed.
"You sleep first, I’m going to take a shower."
He said and then, as if on fire, quickly headed towards the bathroom.
Vivian quickly pulled the quilt over her own burning face.
Damn, the days ahead... are going to be tough.
When Julian Thorne came out of the bathroom again, Vivian heard the noise and quickly shut her eyes.
"Get some sleep."
"I’m going to look at some documents."
Julian Thorne used work as an excuse and went to the side. Vivian peeked out from the quilt and quickly said, "Then, you should sleep early too."
After saying this, she tucked her head back under the covers completely.
Not long after, Vivian really fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, half-awake, she felt someone hug her again.
But she was so tired that her consciousness struggled briefly, and she slipped back into a deeper sleep...
The next day, Vivian woke up quite early.
By the time she woke up, Julian Thorne was still asleep.
Vivian couldn’t help but carefully observe him.
There’s no denying, this man is truly handsome.
His eyebrows, his features, his every smile and frown, every furrow of his brow and every lowering of his head, Vivian found herself unconsciously replaying them over and over in her mind.
She seemed to really like him.
More than she liked anyone else.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but smile.
"What’s making you so happy? Care to share it with me?"
Julian Thorne opened his sleepy eyes and looked down to meet Vivian’s gaze.
