After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret-Chapter 140: All the Supplies Were Taken Away
It was a short, mutated zombie.
Along with the other zombies, it was sniffing and roaring incessantly at the bloodstains on the ground.
It would also occasionally manifest its Superpower to attack the surrounding vehicles.
Nina Jacobs clearly saw it form an icicle.
’Could it be the Mystic Ice Core?’
This discovery immediately piqued Nina Jacobs’s interest.
There weren’t too many zombies outside. She planned to go out and take a look after she finished collecting the supplies.
The Verdant Supermarket had three floors in total.
After Nina Jacobs finished clearing out the second floor, the system sent the reward for completing "Free Shopping Spree Mission 17."
She was directly awarded a Level 2 Storage Box.
Immediately after, the details for Mission 18 appeared on the panel.
The deadline for Mission 18 was two days away, and Nina Jacobs accepted it without hesitation.
’So the third floor here is a food court.’
The food piled up in the supermarket’s third-floor food court was already moldy and rotten, emitting a foul stench.
"Looks like there are no more supplies here.
I’m going outside to kill zombies.
You stay here for now."
Nina Jacobs said.
However, Wayne Warner didn’t seem to agree.
"Be good. Your injuries are still healing."
Nina Jacobs took out a few bags of snacks and placed them in Wayne Warner’s arms.
He finally agreed.
The moment she walked out of the Verdant Supermarket, all the zombies outside roared in excitement.
The Fire Serpent once again spread across the ground in several directions.
With the impact of the Fireballs, several zombies fell into the flames.
’The number of mutated zombies has increased again.’
While three mutated zombies were caught in her quicksand trap, Nina Jacobs swiftly used her Fire Roaring Blade to chop off the head of a Wood Element zombie.
She also noticed the short zombie.
A less powerful Fireball shot straight at that zombie.
ROAR!
Sensing Nina Jacobs’s approach, the mutated zombie dodged and finally manifested its Superpower.
Under the blinding sunlight, a small icicle pierced the charred corpse behind Nina Jacobs.
’It really is Ice Element!’
Could there be a Mystic Ice Core nearby?
After Nina Jacobs killed all the surrounding zombies, only this Ice Element mutated zombie remained.
Unfortunately, the zombie’s clothes were tattered and torn, offering no useful information.
Nina Jacobs had no choice but to kill it and dig out the Crystal Core from its head.
’It’s a Water Element Crystal Core, no doubt about it.’
But it could manifest the Ice Element.
So where exactly did this mutated zombie come into contact with the Mystic Ice Core?
With no leads, she had to drop the matter for now.
After digging out all the Crystal Cores with Wayne Warner, the two of them left the Verdant Supermarket and drove down another road.
What Nina Jacobs didn’t know was that no sooner had they left...
...than several cars arrived outside the Verdant Supermarket.
"Damn it! We’re a step too late.
The supplies have all been taken!"
A woman in a tight-fitting tracksuit said, exasperated.
"All of it?"
the man in the car asked.
"Yes. We estimate they have at least ten Space Superpower Users."
Another woman also walked out of the supermarket.
"They’ve got a huge appetite. Was it Ethan Abbott’s group?"
Finn Hart asked from inside the car.
"I don’t think so. You’ll know if you come take a look."
Hearing her say that, Finn Hart finally got out of the car, enduring his discomfort.
"I suspect Ethan Abbott is already dead.
Those cars over there are his.
And this charred body... I’ve only ever seen Ethan Abbott wear this watch."
The woman led Finn Hart to a charred corpse lying face down on the ground.
"Who on earth did this?
To burn so many people to death... that’s too ruthless."
someone at the side commented.
"They weren’t burned to death."
Finn Hart covered his nose with a clean handkerchief and concluded after observing the scene.
"They were probably afraid of attracting zombies,
so they burned all the dead bodies. That would buy time for the Space Superpower Users to collect the supplies."
"Right, I agree.
And their strength shouldn’t be underestimated.
These zombies were probably lured here later.
There are over a dozen mutated zombies alone."
The woman who had led Finn Hart out was named Phoebe Vance. She had already surveyed the surroundings.
What she found incredible was that the other party seemed to have suffered no casualties.
"Could it be some new, emerging group we don’t know about?"
the woman in the tracksuit said.
"Let’s go."
Finn Hart could no longer stand the smell.
Besides, he deduced that the other party might not have gone far.
"Even if we find them, I’m afraid there’s not much we can do."
Phoebe Vance said with some regret as she got into the car.
"Then we’ll just kill them all."
Finn Hart wiped his hands over and over with a disinfecting wipe, a hint of anger in his eyes.
"Mr. Hart gave his word to Elder Shaw
that he would monopolize City J’s supplies within a month."
the woman in the tracksuit reminded him in a low voice.
Her name was Jane Dixon, and like Finn Hart’s group, she was from City A.
"I don’t think it was just his word.
There was also that bet between them.
But we really do need to speed things up."
Phoebe Vance also said.
Regardless, they had all come with Finn Hart to complete the mission.
City J was a lawless territory.
It had also been marked as a prize to be claimed by several major powers.
Today was their third day here, and the Verdant Supermarket was likely the largest supply point they had encountered in those three days.
To think it had been cleared out so quickly...
Completely unaware of this, Nina Jacobs had already completed "Free Shopping Spree Mission 18."
Mission 18 turned out to be a cold storage warehouse that hadn’t lost power yet.
City J had a unique geographical location.
Due to its higher elevation, many areas had not been soaked by the acid rain.
Although this cold storage was located beneath a building, the acid rain hadn’t flowed in.
Plus, there was an emergency solar power system supplying it with electricity.
When Nina Jacobs arrived, she found that most of the supplies in the cold storage were perfectly intact.
Even the ice cream was still frozen solid.
According to the system’s prompt, the power to this warehouse would be completely cut off tomorrow.
Nina Jacobs collected large quantities of frozen meat, fried chicken, crispy pork, and frozen pre-cooked meals from the warehouse.
All sorts of bagged buns, dumplings, sweet rice balls, and frozen desserts...
When Wayne Warner came out with her, his sharp eyebrows were coated in a layer of frost.
But he had already collected six popsicle sticks in his hand.
"You can’t eat any more. What if you get a stomachache?"
Her system’s storage box didn’t have food like ice cream stocked.
So this must have been Wayne Warner’s first time eating a popsicle.
But after just one, he was hooked, and he kept asking Nina Jacobs for a second, then a third...
"...Mmm."
After what seemed like a difficult internal struggle, Wayne Warner finally agreed.
"We had a good haul today.
I’ll make you hot pot tonight."
Nina Jacobs said, taking off her down jacket.
Her storage box also had plenty of hot pot balls and meat rolls.
But after seeing those beef balls and beef rolls just now, she found herself craving the taste of hot pot too.
It was already afternoon. She took out the map of City J that Alan Langdon had given her back in the village.
She planned to pick a nearby place on it to rest.
"Let’s go here."
Nina Jacobs decided, pointing to an abandoned construction site.
Places like that usually had the fewest zombies and were the least dangerous.
