After Marrying the Officer-Chapter 109 - : Do You Believe Me?
Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Do You Believe Me?
“Fine, I’ll just accept the watch, considering Chuyi could actually use one,” Xia Chu decided and then earnestly said to Huo Shiqian, “I’ll pick out a gift for you in return.”
“Okay,” he responded very quickly.
Xia Chu tugged at the corner of her mouth.
He couldn’t have planned for this all along, could he?
“But just so we’re clear, Uncle Liberation Army… Ouch!” Her head got knocked, and she glared at him, rubbing her sore spot.
Inside, she rolled her eyes and then cutely said, “Let’s get this straight, Brother Shiqian, I don’t have much money, so I can’t buy any fancy gifts, okay?”
There’s no way it could compare to the value of this designer watch anyway.
“It’s no issue,” Huo Shiqian patted her head and said, “Next time I write to you, I’ll send some money along, so you can take your time choosing.”

“…”
She didn’t have enough eye-rolls for this.
“Chuyi, I’m a soldier; I can’t be by your side all the time,” he paused, a chilly glint flashed through his eyes, “I’ll handle the Xia Family issues before I go.”
Xia Chu faintly sensed a killing vibe.
“No! Don’t bother!” she reacted promptly, grabbing his sleeve with her hand, and earnestly meeting his gaze, “Huo Shiqian, let me deal with the Xia Family matters by myself. Please?”
She didn’t want him to knock everyone over with a single strike, nor did she want to rely on his help for everything.
“Huo Shiqian, you can trust me; I can handle these matters on my own.” She looked at him with utmost seriousness, “Huo Shiqian, do you trust me?”
Huo Shiqian’s expression was shadowed and inscrutable until he finally tapped her forehead lightly and said, “Call me ‘brother.'”
Xia Chu’s expression crumpled.
Uncle Liberation Army, you’re really not playing fair!
But she knew he had agreed.
“Brother Shiqian.” With her eyes curved like crescents, she beamed and said, “For the Xia Chengzu matter, just follow the rules, and for everything else, I understand in my own heart.”
“Okay,” Huo Shiqian replied tersely.
Xia Chu glanced at Huo Shiqian’s handsome face, unsure if he would actually do as he said.
She had found that once Huo Shiqian wanted to hide what he was thinking, she couldn’t detect a thing.
“Well, that’s that then, Brother Shiqian, I’m heading back now.” Xia Chu opened the car door and stepped out.
This time, Huo Shiqian didn’t stop her but watched her with a solemn gaze, saying, “Chuyi, remember to write, tell me if there’s anything.”
She got the message and felt a warmth inside, smiled back, and said, “I got it, Uncle Liberation Army, take care!”
She saluted militarily.
Huo Shiqian stared at her, calling out in a deeper voice, “Chuyi!”
Xia Chu’s smile gleamed, “Oops, I misspoke, Brother Shiqian, take care!”
Finally, Huo Shiqian shook his head with a slight air of helplessness.
As she alighted from the vehicle, the “crampy” Xiao Wang ran back in high spirits.
“Goodbye, little sister-in-law!” Xiao Wang saluted her, “Please make sure to write to our regiment commander; it’s crucial for the peace of mind of all our soldiers to know if we’re living in heaven or hell!”
“Stop that racket!” Huo Shiqian’s low voice came from the vehicle.
Xia Chu chuckled.
“Thank you, take care, and goodbye little sister-in-law!” After shouting, Xiao Wang hopped into the vehicle.
Watching the green military vehicle fade into the distance, Xia Chu felt very pleased.
Finally, that deity was sent off!
When the car was completely out of sight, she lifted her wrist and took off the watch, examining it from every angle.
Well, you have to admit, it’s a really nice watch.
