After My Death, the Love-struck CEO Begs for Reconciliation-Chapter 20 - 21
What did he do?
That winter, Julian Lancaster waited for three days and nights in the snow to secure the first collaboration with Elysian. I felt for him, so I waited with him, and finally, almost fainting from a high fever, we finally met Elysian’s representative.
But at the celebration banquet, Julian Lancaster credited all the success to Serena Sullivan, who had just returned from an overseas trip, in front of everyone.
He said, "This is my Muse, Serena Sullivan. Without her, there would be no Aethel today."
Serena Sullivan, wearing the dress I had picked for her, stood by his side, smiling radiantly. Meanwhile, I could only wrap myself in a coat, standing in the corner, silently applauding them.
...
Seeing Julian Lancaster’s face turn sour, I knew he remembered that unpleasant memory. At least for me, it was an embarrassing memory.
"I..." Julian Lancaster couldn’t refute, "At the time, I was only... for the company’s image..."
"For the company’s image," I interrupted him, "you could comfortably steal my credit and trample on my dignity. Isn’t it always like this?"
"I had no choice but to be around you."
Julian Lancaster fell silent, he understood what I meant; he couldn’t argue back.
"So, everything I’m doing now is just to get back at you. Don’t overthink it."
With that, I was about to leave, not wanting to deal with this absurd person anymore.
Julian Lancaster grabbed my hand, "Uncle Shaw suffered a stroke and was hospitalized because of the engagement party..."
"I’m sorry to hear that, but!" I pulled away from him again, "Is this my fault, Julian Lancaster? Is it my fault?"
"It’s you and your shameless Serena Sullivan, and you want to blame me?"
Julian Lancaster wanted to continue entangling, but he was forcibly pulled away by someone else.
He was about to get angry but realized that person was holding me protectively. He seemed to understand something and sneered.
"Alright, so you’ve taken up with someone else? Is that why you want to leave me?"
I raised my head and took Adrian Sinclair’s hand, "Yes, and now we’re going on a date, so please don’t disturb us!"
With that, I walked out.
Just past the corner, I released Adrian Sinclair’s hand.
"Sorry." I lowered my head, "I just used you for a moment."
"It’s nothing." Adrian Sinclair smiled indifferently, "As long as it helps you. Get in the car, I’ll give you a ride."
"By the way, there’s a haute couture fashion week in Valoria recently, with many top perfume brands launching new products. I thought, since you’ve studied for so long, you could go take a look, what do you think?"
Adrian Sinclair held the steering wheel, bringing it up as if unintentionally.
I nodded frantically, "That’s amazing! Do I even need to think about it? Of course, I’ll go!"
Adrian Sinclair smiled but didn’t say much more.
