After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 1012 - 537: Right and Wrong (Part 2)
Yang Wenqi said that she's lost weight recently and even sent him a photo of her pulling down her pants to show off her slim waist. Chen Feng looked at it for a few seconds and then ignored it.
Tian Xiaoman also sent him a beautiful selfie and two landscape photos. Chen Feng looked at them for about ten seconds, then responded with a thumb-up emoji and didn't pay any more attention.
Hong Xiaodan mentioned that she planned to come to Xiu Zhou in two days and hoped to meet Chen Feng then.
Chen Feng thought about it and sent her an OK hand gesture emoji, then didn't give it any more thought.
Finally, it was Yuan Daan. This guy had already booked a place at Yufang Restaurant in advance, a private room. He sent some photos and urged him to come over as soon as possible, saying he was already waiting. He also insisted on bringing Sun and Wu to make it lively, as eating is only fun with more people.
Chen Feng took a look and replied, saying he would be there shortly—at the earliest, in fifteen minutes.
Fifteen minutes later, Chen Feng and the two others indeed arrived at Yufang Restaurant and met Yuan Daan, Ye Xiaotong, and another middle-aged man in his thirties, refined and wearing glasses, with an air of public service about him.
Through Yuan Daan's introduction, this person was Yu Boping, the Deputy Director of the Light Industry Bureau. Being able to hold such a position at his age truly promised a bright future.
Yuan Daan smiled and said, "This time, I was able to import this set of advanced equipment from abroad thanks to the great help from Director Yu. Coincidentally, he was free tonight, so I invited him to join us for a meal. You two can get to know each other too; after all, we should look out for each other as friends."
Yu Boping was quite approachable, smiling and shaking hands with Chen Feng. When he saw Wu Mengting and Sun Xiaorui, he didn't show any sign of being impressed by their beauty. His gaze was calm, and he didn't proactively shake hands with them, which made him appear quite proper.
After introductions were made, they sat down to order food and began the meal.
There were three men and three women, and Yuan Daan, being a man of the world, skillfully led the conversation. While Yu Boping didn't speak much, he wasn't devoid of humor, often uttering witty remarks that made everyone laugh.
After a few drinks, the three men became more open with their words, and Chen Feng learned how they came to know each other. It turned out Yu Boping's wife was the cousin of Yuan Daan's first cousin.
The relationship seemed a bit convoluted, but it counted as a familial connection, considering Yuan Daan's cousin was Yu Boping's sister-in-law.
Under Yu Boping's curious inquiries, Chen Feng revealed his current role.
Upon learning that Chen Feng was the owner of the film company that produced the hit dramas "Mountain Order" and "Please give me more advice in the rest of my life," they were astonished.
Especially Yuan Daan and Ye Xiaotong. Yuan Daan didn't know "Mountain Order," but "Please give me more advice in the rest of my life" was the one his wife occupied the TV with every day as she followed the series.
What's more, Chen Feng had studied a major unrelated to film during school, and only a couple of years ago people had heard of him working in Xiu Zhou—yet within such a short time, he transformed into a film company owner and produced two dramas.
Ye Xiaotong, on the other hand, was very familiar with the two dramas, having watched them herself. Especially "Mountain Order," which had enchanted her and other female audiences with the male leads.
Consequently, she was quick to ask if Chen Feng knew the two male leads, Zhang Hang and Gong Yi. Chen Feng confirmed they were signed as artists with his company.
Ye Xiaotong was thrilled and asked excitedly if she could get their autographs, preferably signed posters.
Out of courtesy to Yuan Daan, Chen Feng agreed, stating he would arrange for them to sign and send them to her, asking Yuan Daan to provide the address.
Ye Xiaotong was overjoyed and expressed her gratitude, not going overboard by asking Chen Feng to arrange a meeting with the two male leads.
On this aspect, she maintained her discretion.
Since Chen Feng revealed his identity, both Yu Boping and Yuan Daan treated him with noticeably more courtesy.
The meal was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, with both the host and guests finding satisfaction.
At the end of the meal, all three men scrambled to pay the bill, including the public servant, Yu Boping.
Ultimately, neither Chen Feng nor Yu Boping could outcompete the tenacious Yuan Daan, given their gentlemanly demeanor and Yuan Daan's slight intoxication from the bottle of Wuliangye. Insisting on footing the bill might have led to a real fight.
Outside Yufang Restaurant, Chen Feng and his companions parted ways with the other three.
In the car, Chen Feng sat in the back seat, feeling slightly dizzy. This time, he drank at least half a bottle of Wuliangye—not quite drunk, but with a mild buzz.
His head rested against the seat, eyes closed and on the verge of falling asleep when his phone suddenly rang.
After a while, Chen Feng grudgingly opened his eyes and checked his phone, realizing it was Han Shipei calling.
Initially intending to reject the call, his unsteady left hand holding the phone accidentally allowed his right-hand finger to touch accept.
Seeing this, Chen Feng reluctantly brought the phone to his ear.
"What's up?" Chen Feng asked, a bit impatiently.
If Han Shipei wasn't technically his subordinate, he really wouldn't want any further dealings with her.
"Brother, might I come see you? I have something I need to talk to you about." Han Shipei's voice was raspy and low.
Chen Feng frowned slightly, softened his tone, and asked, "What is it exactly?"
Over the phone, Han Shipei started sobbing, choking out, "My parents... they... are pushing me to write a letter of forgiveness."
Initially baffled, Chen Feng tried to think through his slight inebriation, eventually recalling the son of the wealthy second-generation who'd assaulted her last time.
"Is it that Pan's dad doing this?" Chen Feng inquired.
"Yes," she replied, "His dad found my hometown and directly approached my parents, offering them five thousand dollars to make me write a letter of forgiveness to pardon Pan Zhizheng, with a promise of another fifteen thousand afterward. Without thinking, my parents agreed, and now they're forcing me—their own daughter—to write the letter."
Chen Feng understood: Han Shipei's parents were willing to sell their daughter for twenty thousand dollars.
In light of this, Han Shipei certainly deserved sympathy, though it really wasn't Chen Feng's concern.
Only because Wu Mengting and Lu Sijia valued her did Chen Feng bother to patiently ask, "What do you personally want? Is forgiving the Pan guy what you wish to avoid?"
"Absolutely not! He's a scum and a pervert." Han Shipei spat out through gritted teeth, "He once tortured me to the point where I wanted to die—I could never forgive him."
Chen Feng unhesitatingly said, "Then just ignore your parents. They're not considering you, not fighting for justice, so you don't need to care about their feelings."
