After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 112: He Just Screamed a Little Louder
"So that’s Vivian Forrest. She’s gorgeous," a voice marveled from a car nearby.
"She’s very pretty, but her looks are the least of her many talents. She’s a national treasure of Veridia." The person speaking must have been a die-hard fan of Vivian Forrest, gushing with so much praise they could have written a ten-thousand-word essay about her.
Eliza Sutton looked away and started the car when the light turned green.
「Green Bamboo Garden.」
As soon as Eliza Sutton stepped into the entryway, Minnie came up to greet her.
Minnie asked cautiously, "Mistress, why are you back so late?"
Eliza Sutton said, "I called earlier. I said I’d be late today."
’After all, preparing the medicinal bath for Shane Lockwood was bound to take more time.’
Minnie said, "Mrs. Lockwood is here."
The words had barely left her lips when Mrs. Lockwood’s voice rang out.
"How much longer are you going to dawdle at the door?"
Eliza Sutton thanked Minnie and stepped inside.
"Mom," Eliza began, but Mrs. Lockwood cut her off with a cold rebuke.
"Kneel!"
Eliza Sutton was stunned.
Mrs. Lockwood glared furiously at Eliza Sutton. "I told you to kneel! Didn’t you hear me? Or do you think that just because my son is gone, you can start disrespecting me?"
Mrs. Lockwood was incredibly agitated and broke into a coughing fit.
Mrs. Lockwood had lost a lot of weight since Shane Lockwood’s accident. Her whole body swayed as she coughed, making for a pitiful sight.
"Mom! Please, calm down." Eliza Sutton steadied Mrs. Lockwood, patting the acupoints on her back. "Here, take a slow breath."
Mrs. Lockwood’s agitation subsided. She turned and stared coldly at Eliza Sutton. "Do you really think that just because my son is gone, you no longer have to respect me?"
"I would never think that," Eliza Sutton said sincerely. "I married Shane Lockwood. Regardless of the circumstances of our marriage, we were husband and wife. A couple is a single unit. When he was here, he was the pillar of this family. Now that he’s gone, I will become that pillar in his place. Please, believe me. I will protect this family just as Shane did."
Mrs. Lockwood’s eyes instantly reddened. "Don’t think you can win me over with a few pretty words! You know how attached Emmett is to you, yet you chose to come home this late, of all times. Eliza Sutton, how am I supposed to believe you treat Emmett as your own son?"
Eliza Sutton couldn’t explain, so she simply listened to Mrs. Lockwood’s accusations in silence.
Disappointment filled Mrs. Lockwood’s expression as she handed a document to Eliza Sutton.
It was a divorce agreement that had been torn up and then taped back together.
It was the one she had once signed.
Mrs. Lockwood took a deep breath and said, "Shane was right. Your marriage was a mistake. He didn’t want to be with you when he was here, and now that he’s gone, I won’t go against his wishes. I’ll have someone file the papers in the morning. You’ll be free. And so will my son."
Tears streamed down Mrs. Lockwood’s face as she spoke.
She wiped them away, her expression hardening with resolve.
"Leave now."
With a resolute expression and a final tone, Mrs. Lockwood called for Minnie. "See Miss Sutton out."
"Ma’am..." Minnie couldn’t stop herself from speaking up.
Mrs. Lockwood’s gaze swept over to her. "What is it?" she said coolly. "Do my words suddenly mean nothing in this house?"
"Mom..."
But Mrs. Lockwood didn’t even look at Eliza Sutton. She just said coldly, "Minnie, if you can’t even handle a simple task like this, then you can leave the Lockwood family. We have no use for incompetent people here."
Minnie shivered and immediately walked over. "Mistress, this way, please."
Not wanting to get Minnie in trouble, Eliza Sutton glanced at Mrs. Lockwood and said, "Mom, please take care of yourself. Call me if you need anything."
Eliza Sutton left with Minnie.
Mrs. Lockwood stared into the empty living room, fresh tears streaming down her face, her heart filled with an unspeakable, bitter grief.
Eliza Sutton stood at the entrance of the Lockwood Estate, waiting for Woody to pick her up.
While she was waiting for Woody, the main gate suddenly opened. A Ferrari drove out and stopped beside her. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
The car door opened, and Fabian Lockwood got out, a smug, arrogant look on his face.
Fabian Lockwood let out a theatrical gasp. "Well, well, if it isn’t my dear sister-in-law. What are you doing standing out here so late at night? Don’t tell me you got kicked out by Mother."
Eliza Sutton didn’t even look at Fabian Lockwood.
That just spurred Fabian on. "So pitiful. A widow for only a few days before being thrown out like a stray dog. I wonder if you regret rejecting me now that you’ve hit rock bottom?"
Gazing at the graceful, alluring figure of Eliza Sutton, Fabian felt an undeniable stir of desire. "But if you learn to sing ’Conquer’ for me, I wouldn’t mind giving you another chance."
Eliza Sutton finally turned her gaze to him. "You want to hear ’Conquer’?"
"That’s right," Fabian said, rubbing his hands together. "Sing it for me right here."
His voice was brimming with anticipation, fueled by the thrill of her status as Madam Lockwood and the frustration of her constant rejections.
"Fine," Eliza agreed readily. She crooked a finger at Fabian. "Come closer."
’Success!’
’Eliza Sutton is finally giving in.’
Overjoyed, Fabian Lockwood approached Eliza Sutton.
’He had to admit, his persistent interest in her wasn’t just about the thrill of her identity; more importantly, Eliza Sutton was simply stunning.’
"Come on, sister-in-law, first a ki—"
He had only said half the word when he felt a sharp pain in his eye.
Eliza Sutton had punched him in the eye.
"Eliza Sutton..."
THWACK.
Another punch sent Fabian Lockwood sprawling to the ground, where his mouth, as fate would have it, made intimate contact with the dirt.
Eliza Sutton asked with feigned sincerity, "Is this the kind of kiss you wanted, Second Master? How... unique."
Fabian spat out a mouthful of dirt and roared in fury, "Eliza Sutton, you think you can get away with anything just because you’re pretty! How dare you lay a hand on me! I’ll make you pay for this!"
Eliza Sutton completely ignored his threats, treating them like mindless howling. "Actually, Second Master, we have something in common. I also enjoy making people sing ’Conquer’."
"So, you’re scared now? Finally ready to play nice..."
"Except I don’t like hearing it sung on one’s knees," Eliza continued. "I prefer to make them sing with my fists. Like this." She landed another punch.
’She’d been putting up with Fabian for far too long.’
’That vile, stupid creature!’
"Mi-Mistress!" The Lockwood’s security guards, drawn by Fabian’s pained cries, were stunned to see Eliza Sutton violently beating him.
"What are you gawking at? Help me!"
As if jolted from a trance, the guards rushed forward to help Fabian to his feet.
The head of security braced himself and asked, "Mistress, what happened? Why were you fighting with the Second Master?"
Eliza Sutton said, "It’s all a misunderstanding. Second Master said that mosquitoes were biting him and asked for my help swatting them. Of course, I didn’t dare refuse. I suppose I accidentally bumped into him while I was swatting, and that’s why he cried out so loudly. I certainly didn’t lay a hand on him."
She turned to Fabian, a sweet smile on her face. "Am I right, Second Master?"
