After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 154: Eliza Sutton is Mrs. Lockwood
The man put on a bleak expression. "Eliza, I know you’re a famous fashion designer now. You have status and prestige, so you look down on a man like me and see our past as a disgrace. That’s fine. My life is what it is, and I’m content just holding on to my memories of you.
"But Theo is different. He’s still so young. Having a mother by his side—especially a mother like you—will be a huge help to his future. Eliza, for the boy’s sake, please take him with you."
The man’s voice was emotional, and tears even streamed down his face. He looked every bit the doting father willing to sacrifice anything for his child, successfully wringing tears from the crowd.
After such a speech, Eliza Sutton had no room to refuse. Otherwise, in everyone’s eyes, she would be the cold-hearted one.
If she could be this way toward her own child, how could she possibly have any compassion for others?
Besides, people naturally sympathize with the underdog, and the downtrodden man and his young child were, by all appearances, the weaker party.
The murmurs from the crowd grew louder.
Some of the more agitated people were already pointing at Eliza Sutton’s face and yelling, "Eliza Sutton, what is wrong with you? Don’t you recognize your own man and your own child?"
"Yeah, are you going to acknowledge them or not?"
Suddenly, countless people were interrogating her.
Eliza Sutton looked up and said, "I don’t."
Eliza Sutton spoke the two words so clearly and distinctly that no one could even pretend they had misheard.
’Idiot!’
Amelia Sutton couldn’t help but scoff, though inwardly she was overjoyed.
’Now Eliza Sutton’s reputation will be in tatters. No one can accept such a cold and heartless woman.’
Sure enough, as soon as Eliza Sutton spoke, the crowd erupted in fury. Everyone was pointing at her and cursing angrily.
Eliza Sutton, however, remained unmoved. She gave a cold smile and said, "I’ll say it again: I don’t know you, and I have no connection to you whatsoever. I’m going to report this to the police."
She turned to Erik Irvine. "Secretary Irvine, please call the police for me. Tell them someone is slandering me in public. And please get me a lawyer. I want to sue this gentleman."
"Eliza, how could you be like this?" Amelia Sutton chimed in, putting on an expression of disapproval. "Even if you don’t love him anymore, you two had a past together. How can you be so heartless? And there’s a child involved, no matter what. Theo is so adorable. Are you really going to disown him?"
"Fine, Eliza Sutton, just fine. Since you’re so heartless, we won’t bother you anymore. From now on, my son and I will survive on scraps, beg on the streets, and starve to death before we ever darken your door again! Theo, let’s go!"
The man moved to grab the child, but before he could touch him, Eliza Sutton swept the boy into her arms and watched the man warily.
"Eliza Sutton, what’s the meaning of this? Are you trying to steal my son?" the man demanded, furious. He started forward to snatch the child from her grasp.
But before he could, he was viciously kicked to the ground. Then, a foot pressed firmly on his back, and his arms were pinned behind him.
It was the same way police subdue a criminal.
The man’s face was pressed against the floor, but he was still yelling, "Eliza Sutton, what is this? You refuse to acknowledge me, you refuse to acknowledge our child, and now you’re trying to steal him from me in public? What? Do you really think there’s no law anymore? That your social status lets you do whatever you want?"
The man’s words were highly inflammatory, and the crowd’s dissatisfaction with Eliza Sutton instantly intensified.
Amelia Sutton looked even more furious. "Eliza, you’ve gone too far! It’s one thing to refuse to acknowledge your husband and your past, but how can you steal the child?"
As Amelia Sutton spoke, the corners of her lips curled into a slight smile.
’She knew it. Even if Eliza Sutton wouldn’t acknowledge the man, she would definitely acknowledge the child.’
’The scene Eliza had caused at the Sutton Family estate during her homecoming visit had already made it clear: those two bastards were Eliza Sutton’s Achilles’ heel.’
"Give me back my son!"
Even while being pinned down, the man struggled desperately, trying to get the child back.
"You want to steal a child?"
Shane Lockwood wheeled himself over. He grabbed the man’s chin, leaned in close, and asked, enunciating every word, "You want to steal a child from *me*?"
In that instant, the aura emanating from Shane Lockwood crashed down on the man like a collapsing mountain.
The man couldn’t withstand it; his back was instantly drenched in cold sweat. He had to summon all his strength just to stammer out, "Not steal... Th... This is my child."
"Your child?" Shane Lockwood laughed.
It was as if he had never heard such a ridiculous joke in his life.
"To dare claim a child of the Lockwood family bloodline is yours... you’ve got some nerve!"
As Shane Lockwood’s words fell, Eliza Sutton had already turned the child in her arms to face the crowd.
Everyone gasped when they saw the face that was a spitting image of Shane Lockwood.
Amelia Sutton’s mind went blank. She stared stupidly at the man and the boy.
’Why does the child she hired to smear Eliza Sutton have Shane Lockwood’s face?’
The reporters were stunned too. They frantically started asking the people around them.
"What’s going on? Wasn’t this supposed to be Eliza Sutton’s illegitimate son? Why does he look exactly like President Lockwood?"
"Don’t tell me this is Eliza Sutton and President Lockwood’s child?"
"Impossible. The only woman President Lockwood has ever been publicly linked to is that young lady from the Forrest family."
"Then what’s the deal with this kid?"
Soon, a reporter asked, "President Lockwood, are you saying this child is yours?"
"Yes," Shane Lockwood said, glancing at the child in Eliza Sutton’s arms.
’He still didn’t know what was going on, but this was definitely Lockwood blood.’
"If he’s President Lockwood’s son, why is he calling Eliza Sutton ’Mom’? Is President Lockwood so eager to curry favor with Master Innis that he’d even cast aside his own child?"
Hearing the reporter’s question, Amelia Sutton couldn’t help but curse them for an idiot.
’Isn’t that just handing Eliza Sutton an easy win?’
Sure enough, when Shane Lockwood heard the reporter’s question, his lips curled into a cold arc. "That’s an excellent question. It’s one that definitely needs an answer."
Shane Lockwood took Eliza Sutton’s hand and said, "She—Eliza Sutton—is my wife. Is there a problem with my son calling my wife ’Mom’?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
What?
Eliza Sutton is Shane Lockwood’s wife?
How could something so huge have happened without any of them knowing?
But the reporters weren’t so easily fooled.
Sure enough, a reporter immediately found a flaw in the story and spoke up. "If Eliza Sutton is President Lockwood’s wife and the young master’s mother, then why did the boy rush out, cling to her leg, and beg her not to go, not to abandon him? Isn’t that a contradiction?"
After asking his question, the reporter lifted his chin high, a look on his face that said, ’Let’s see how you explain your way out of this one.’
Shane Lockwood glanced at the man and suddenly asked, "Are you married?"
"I am."
"Has your wife ever had a fight with you? For example, gone back to her parents’ house, given you the silent treatment, or talked about divorce?"
The reporter subconsciously answered, "Yes."
"Good. Mrs. Lockwood is also a woman. I made her angry, so now she’s giving me the silent treatment and has brought up divorce. The child misunderstood the situation, which in turn led to this misunderstanding for everyone."
Shane Lockwood looked at the child in Eliza Sutton’s arms and asked, "Is that right, Theo?"
