Chapter 120: Chapter 120: Henry Preston Really Came to Deliver the Car

I was put in a difficult position by Crystal Dawson’s antics. Dylan Dawson seemed to have guessed who I was chatting with and what we were talking about. He considerately said, "Zoe, don’t be troubled. I have quite a few friends here, or I can stay at a hotel, don’t listen to what Crystal says."

Dylan Dawson said that, and I felt even more troubled.

"Dylan, it’s fine, it’s just a few days! I have two rooms here, it’s pretty convenient," I replied generously.

"Then... sorry for the trouble. I should be able to sort out accommodation within three days." Dylan Dawson looked at me with bright eyes.

Three days it is then, Crystal Dawson’s brother is like my own brother.

The next morning when I got up, there was a fragrance wafting from the kitchen. I walked over to see Dylan Dawson wearing an apron, busy preparing breakfast. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"You’re up? Hurry and have breakfast, so you can go to work on time." Seeing me, Dylan Dawson removed his apron and brought over two bowls of egg noodles topped with minced meat and mushrooms.

I usually just grab something on the way for breakfast, I’m not up early enough to cook, so today I had Dylan Dawson to thank.

"Thanks!" My appetite surged, and I quickly finished a bowl of noodles.

After finishing, I rushed off to work.

Just my luck, I ran into Azure Vaughn at the entrance as she was getting off her scooter. I sped past her with a twist of the throttle.

Near the end of the working morning, Azure Vaughn suddenly appeared at our department’s entrance, and a few male colleagues were completely entranced.

"Miss Hathaway!" Azure called to me sweetly, raising a beautiful bag in her hand.

Fern Tate, who works near me, heard the voice and looked up, stunned, "Winter?"

Azure Vaughn didn’t know Fern Tate and walked straight toward me.

I looked at her coldly, "Do you need something?"

"Miss Hathaway, I heard from Mr. Preston that you’ve been having stomach issues lately, so I brought you a lunchbox I made myself, it’s more nutritious and clean, give it a try." Azure Vaughn handed me the bag with both hands.

I looked at the bag and didn’t take it.

Fern Tate finally realized that the girl in front of her wasn’t her sister but Henry Preston’s new fling, Azure Vaughn.

She took the bag for me, "Okay, thank you, your name is Azure Vaughn, right?"

The tone was unusually gentle.

"Yes, yes, my name is Azure, and you are?" Azure Vaughn responded sweetly and gently to everyone.

"I’m Fern Tate, also in the Expansion Department." Fern Tate extended her hand, "Nice to meet you, Azure."

Azure Vaughn was taken aback but shook hands, probably wondering why Fern Tate was being so friendly.

I was caught between the two, expressionless.

Does Azure Vaughn still not know that she’s just a stand-in? She always thought she was special to Henry Preston. If she suddenly realized that Henry Preston liked her because she resembled someone else, would she be heartbroken?

As I pondered this, Azure Vaughn’s phone rang.

She glanced at the caller ID and immediately shot a look at me, no doubt it was Henry Preston calling.

Just as noon approached, I got up and left, not caring who ended up eating the "loving lunchbox" if they wanted it.

When I left the company, Henry Preston was at the entrance, his gaze turning cold upon seeing me.

"Mr. Preston!" Azure Vaughn’s tender voice rang out behind me. I turned back to see her bounding joyfully towards Henry Preston, like a carefree little fawn.

The chill on Henry Preston’s face faded slightly, seeming purposefully to irk me; he allowed Azure Vaughn to leap into his arms, making them look enviably affectionate.

Fern Tate also followed, her expression complicated upon witnessing this scene.

Henry Preston met her gaze, his eyes filled with complexity.

"Zoe." Suddenly, Dylan Dawson’s voice came, and I turned towards it. Not far away, he stood holding a lunchbox, his smile fading upon seeing Henry Preston.

Henry Preston’s expression turned cold as well, a look of mutual hostility exchanged between the two men.

In Henry Preston’s embrace, Azure Vaughn glanced between Dylan Dawson and me, speaking joyfully from the heart, "Miss Hathaway, has he pursued you all the way abroad? When I met him back home, my intuition told me he likes you, such devoted men are rare these days."

"Yes, you’re right. Wherever she is, that’s where I’ll be," Dylan Dawson, aware of my divorce from Henry Preston, undoubtedly because of Crystal Dawson’s big mouth, responded.

He walked over and took my hand.

I stiffened at the sudden intimacy, feeling a little uneasy, but upon seeing Azure Vaughn nestled in Henry Preston’s embrace, I steeled myself, intertwining my fingers with Dylan Dawson’s.

"Congratulations to you two, actually..." Azure Vaughn looked up at Henry Preston, seemingly testing his reaction, "I actually thought Miss Hathaway liked Ivan before, and Ivan seemed very special toward her too."

Henry Preston’s face nearly cracked at Azure Vaughn’s remarks.

Of all people, she had to mention Ivan Underwood and me.

Ivan Underwood was his best friend, a brother since childhood. Previously, Henry Preston already harbored suspicions about Ivan and me, and now Azure Vaughn specifically brought it up, deliberately creating a mess between Dylan Dawson, Ivan Underwood, and me, purely to irritate Henry Preston.

Even though we’ve divorced, he wouldn’t want anyone suggesting I was ever ambiguous with his good friend.

A late-arriving green hat is still a green hat, isn’t it?

Azure Vaughn was adept at reading the room, and noticing Henry Preston’s discontent, she cautiously grabbed his lapel, "Did I say something wrong?"

"Do you have a driver’s license?" Henry Preston didn’t answer Azure Vaughn, instead, he asked.

"Yes, before coming here I got everything sorted out, but ever since I got my license, I haven’t driven on the road myself," Azure Vaughn answered honestly.

"Well, that’s fine then. You can drive yourself to and from work; it’s more convenient." Henry Preston handed her the car keys.

The brand-new red BMW next to us was probably for Azure Vaughn, likely worth around a million.

For Henry Preston, it was a modest car, but for Azure Vaughn, it was the most valuable gift she had ever received, a car she might never have owned without meeting Henry Preston.

"No, no, this is too expensive!" Azure Vaughn looked flustered, quickly backing out of Henry Preston’s embrace to return the keys, "I can take the bus, or ride my friend’s scooter, they’re both very convenient!"

Henry Preston frowned, seemingly displeased with Azure Vaughn’s refusal.

I released Dylan Dawson’s hand, then wrapped my arm around his, deliberately saying with a sweet tone, "Oh Dylan, you wouldn’t have ridden a scooter to pick me up, right? No way, I don’t like sun and wind exposure."

Dylan Dawson, knowing I was acting, flashed a doting smile and played along, "Of course not, let’s go, how about having the loving lunch I brought in the car?"

"Okay, let’s go!" I turned and walked away.

After just a few steps, Henry Preston followed swiftly, grabbing my arm sharply, his gaze fierce, "You’re really with him now?"
