After Rebirth, the Celebrity Daughter is the Medical Expert!-Chapter 460 - 356: Everywhere You Look, There Is Light
Ning Youguang’s words opened a new understanding of "decluttering" for her mother.
"Can it really be applied to social interactions?" She found it hard to believe.
"Of course." Ning Youguang said sincerely, "Cut off meaningless social interactions, regularly delete friends in your WeChat contacts whom you haven’t contacted for years or even just a year, remove those you don’t contact, feel unnecessary to contact, or those who make you unhappy from your phone, so they gradually leave your heart—this is decluttering concerning ’people.’
"What if you delete them all, and then need to contact them later?" the mother asked, frowning.
"Just like those things you don’t use daily but think you might need later, but now you realize you never ended up using them, right? Similarly, once you remove those people you haven’t contacted from your phone, you’ll find you won’t contact them in the future either. Keeping these old people and things does nothing but reveal your inability to let go of the past and takes up space, causing damage and pain to your family and yourself, with no real meaning."
The mother fell silent.
Ning Youguang continued, "Are you unable to let go of these things because you can’t let go of past hurts, wanting to use this to prove you’ve been hurt, continuing to hurt yourself?"
The mother’s lips started to tremble slightly, "I... I just... I’m just so sad."
Her emotions broke down, and she burst into tears.
The daughter stood aside, her eyes reddened, but she was at a loss.
"I know being hurt is very painful, but if you always immerse yourself in the harm, isn’t that just like continuing to let yourself be hurt?"
Ning Youguang’s tone was gentle, yet her words were not soft.
Many times, therapists may appear unfeeling; even when the client shows sorrow, they still coldly let the client see the responsibility they bear for their own hurt.
Because comforting the client isn’t her job, helping the client see the problem and solve it is.
The mother said nothing more.
"Decluttering isn’t about cutting everything clean at once; it’s a process, ultimately concerning self-control. If we can enhance our self-restraint and increase our execution in all aspects of life, it represents a type of growth at any stage for an individual," Ning Youguang continued, "So, what will be the result of decluttering is not the problem we need to consider now. What we need to consider now is, using the moment of decluttering, to see the changes in our lives thereafter. After all, no matter the outcome, it’s just a moment; life will continue until we die."
"The present is always the beginning of our future life. Whether you choose to change and reap rebirth, or to embrace the pain and regret of the past and live like this until death, it’s all up to you."
The mother stopped crying and fell into contemplation.
Ning Youguang knew perfectly well that she couldn’t force the client to do anything nor expected her to fully follow her advice to act.
All she had to do was analyze the problems the client couldn’t see, and guide her to see another possibility in life.
"The less energy a person spends on material things, the greater freedom they gain in spirit. If you can’t let go of anything, you ultimately gain nothing."
She said, "Many people around me only have essential living necessities at home, using them cautiously and reverently, cherishing and loving their belongings. Their homes are spotless, filled with brightness wherever you look. They live a high standard of life and state of being."
Having said what needed to be said, Ning Youguang stopped speaking.
In her studio, the mother sat silently for a while, then looked up at her, looked at her daughter, and finally, red-eyed, said to her daughter, "Darling, whenever you’re willing to come home, would you help mom throw away all that trash?"
The daughter covered her mouth, nodded tearfully. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
She cried and said, "Mom, I’m sorry, I didn’t know you hoarded so much because of so much pressure and pain inside."
The daughter’s words made the mother burst into tears again, but there was relief in her eyes.
She said, "Darling, it’s not your fault; it’s all mom’s fault for not telling you anything, and mom’s fault for being useless and unable to do anything about your dad."
The daughter cried and shook her head, "No, it’s that I haven’t shown you enough care and have never properly cared for your feelings." She said, "When I go back, I’ll talk to my dad. I’ll make sure he won’t act like a lord at home anymore."
A few smiles appeared on the mother’s face.
But Ning Youguang inserted gently, "Sorry, I think I need to interrupt you."
Both mother and daughter looked at her.
Ning Youguang smiled and said, "I’m glad the mother could open her heart today, and I’m glad the daughter could see her mother’s hardships, but..."
She emphasized her tone, "May I offer you a small suggestion?"
"Ms. Ning, please go ahead," the mother said, wiping her tears.
"What is it?" the daughter asked curiously.
Ning Youguang said, "In a family, once a family member crosses a boundary, new family conflicts arise. So, regarding the conflict between the mother and father, it’s best if the daughter lets the mother resolve it on her own. Otherwise, if the daughter intervenes, not only will she not solve the problem between the parents, but new family issues may arise, complicating things further."
The mother’s face showed a trace of blankness.
The daughter anxiously said, "But my mom can’t handle my dad at all; if I don’t help, won’t she always be suppressed by him?"
Ning Youguang calmly said, "You are a loving child, and I understand your love for your mom, but sorry, even though in many families, when parents quarrel, children often help the weaker parent against the stronger one, it doesn’t solve the problem; it only complicates it further. Therefore, whatever issues exist between the parents, these are their own lessons. What the daughter needs to do is stay in her place. When the dad isn’t around, care more for the mom, give her comfort and strength, but don’t overstep and ask dad to do anything. This doesn’t solve the problem; it only creates problems."
The daughter said anxiously, "Then I..."
The mother immediately patted her daughter’s hand, "Darling, I understand what Ms. Ning said, don’t worry, even though mom is useless and can’t do anything about your dad, I can’t let you suffer because of me."
She sighed deeply, "After so many years, I’ve come to terms with it, it doesn’t matter anymore. From now on, I’ll just focus on being well myself and not causing you trouble. As for your dad, I’ve given up hope."
