After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World-Chapter 1824: Another Birthday Party~
How could Baku be pushed around for long, though? He quickly adjusted. His agility, instinct, and explosive strength was inherently superior to humans, so—after he gathered his bearings—he soon started his own barrage, finally pushing Gill back.
"GOOOOO! BAKUUU! KYAAAA!" Cheers resounded for the two sides, though halforcs were just inherently more popular.
Some of the people yelling even wore cat ears and hairbands to show their allegiance. They were his fangirls. Baku’s Fangroup was called the Roarcs, while Maomao’s were the Fluffs, and each had their own line of merchandise (with the half orcs gaining royalties, of course).
Speaking of Maomao, she and Gochi were sitting comfortably on one of the roofs near the stage. They had good eyesight anyway. They, too, liked to spar, and they also liked to watch it.
BANG!
Baku’s strong arms met with the pole of Gill’s weapon. In terms of strength, he overcame Gill by a margin, mostly because of his physique.
Gill was at a disadvantage and this was why he always lost to Baku in the many, many times they sparred. However, while he only lasted a few minutes at the first time, the duration lengthened every time, with the latest fight lasting for nearly an hour.
This one lasted even longer, but no one was bored. The trashbin for the litters from snacks (mostly popcorn and roasted nuts and seeds) was replaced several times by the cleaners though.
The fight continued on, and their speed was difficult to follow with the naked eye.
SLASH!
CLANK!
CRASH!!
Baku’s sharp hands buried into the soldier and his feline eyes widened a bit as the soil started to surround his hands instead. At some point, Gill created a little earth shield around himself, definitely using a lot of mana to maintain.
He timed it well, causing Baku’s hands to be stuck even if for just a second, and this was time for Gill to hit him back.
The remaining mana also placed some bumps just below Baku’s heels, prepared to imbalance him.
The placement was actually quite impressive and required an immense amount of control and space awareness. Not every earth user could do something that looked so simple.
BANG!
Baku was indeed imbalanced and Gill immediately followed through with his own barrage. A second delay would’ve been enough for the half-feline to regain his balance!
They were already near the edge of the ring before, and this time Baku’s feet finally landed outside of it!
This time, Gill finally won!
...
There were few people who bet on Gill, and they were now very very happy.
Rich! They were rich!!
A group of people decided to buy it because the odds were low. They happened to have gotten a lot of bonuses during the war, and what they spent were liquid funds.
Who knew, right? This was the fun of gambling. Who’d have thought—they actually won!
"WOOOOO!"
"I knew Gill was awesome!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"YEAH! I take back calling him a pricky bastard!"
"I take back calling him a poisonous jerk!"
For people who were annoyed with him, they sure did risk a lot of gold on him...
"I can finally buy a gift for the babies!!" one yelled, happy wiggling his body.
His companions looked at him weirdly. "Who?"
The person looked at him in disbelief as if he was the stupidest jerk in Alterra. "Princess Pepper and Prince Meatball’s birthdays, of course!!"
Indeed, time ran quickly and the babies turned two years old before they knew it!
They had already been potty trained, too!
However, unlike the grand first birthday celebration (which ought to be really grand anyway) the second—and most of the next ones—were set to be much simpler.
For one, the babies...were still using their abilities everywhere. It wasn’t that they didn’t trust their people, but there were too many eyes, visitors, and spies now. Even the alchemists agreed the babies’ powers were unusual, how could they casually let other people see that?
In order to keep the babies entertained even when they were confined in the villa, they created an expansion of their playground, which was also the main birthday gift this year.
The new and improved playground was practically a small castle that should be useful for several more years. Even the big kids, Maya and Horus, would be able to play here for a day without feeling bored.
It was quite tall, almost as tall as a one-storey building. For the babies, it was several layers of course with many safety measures. They also added many play spaces, hidden or otherwise, as well as some removable pieces they could change every so often so that the babies’ curiosities could be continuously stimulated even if they didn’t go outside as much.
They added those large thread nets that kids would soften their falls, added ball pits (though this had to be cleaned often), added higher climbing areas, and so on.
Speaking of which, part of the playground could be visible in certain areas so many kids would definitely want to play there. While they weren’t planning on prohibiting playmates in the villa for the babies safety (though they seriously considered it) they made note to Maya and the other kids that they had to ask the adults first and confirm who to invite.
To make up for it, they partnered with the woodworkers to build a similarly large playgrounds in several parks, though much simpler.
Baron’s business mind worked as well and he got one of his cousins (since his property quota had been reached already, even after upgrading with huge amounts of contribution points) to lease a place in the mall.
They would add a children’s play zone there where parents can ’deposit’ their children in what would be an ultra fun and huge play area!
They just had to pay per hour of stay~
Anyway, back to the party. Another reason for a small party was because intimate would usually be better. Anyway, their ’family’ was large so the celebration ended up becoming a party anyway.
They held it in the villa gardens with the ’stage’ set on the verandah, and the seating expanding to the grass areas in front of it. It was the usual party for kids, and amusingly they had a lot more human babies now.
By now, the other babies like Claire, Matthew, and Liam were either in walkers or in strollers. They could also interact with other people and other babies now, which was super cute.1
There was an area in front of the stage with pavement where the children could roll around and play and be part of the program, with the twins as the obvious leaders of the pack.
The front ’stage’ naturally had a little program with magic shows, dance shows, and so on.
They were most energetic with the newly hired mascot—it was a chubby bee with a chef’s hat—who danced really well and the babies danced with him.
Yes, there was even a mascot-making company now, specializing in making colorful mascots and costumes, and the hosts they hired this time were wearing very lively attires that the children loved.
Little giggles and squeals abound the gardens that night, and all adults in the vicinity turned to mush.
Claire = Gill/Cassandra’s, Liam = Winona/Ansel, Matthew = Eugene/Melissa
