Chapter 1831: Inner Circle Improvements (Part 1)

Anyway, other than those areas, there were also some improvements made in the inner circle.

The inner circle was already fully developed for the most part, and they didn’t do demolition (yet), especially when there was no need to.

However, there were still places they could improve on, regardless.

About a few weeks ago, the proposal to develop another area was moved forward. It was an extension of the hot springs, though not really. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The hot spring’s meditation garden was so popular and proved to be really effective.

For example, fire users like Luis, water users like Betty, earth users like Oslo, and Wood users like Sean had all claimed that they had comparatively better progress when they meditated in the hot springs.

Apparently, there were more enlightenments and more aether absorbed during meditation in such settings (at least for the related elements, fire, water, earth, and wood).

It was not surprising, then, that a huge number of people petitioned for a larger area to be developed.

However, because the hot springs could only be used for 12 hours at a time, and the reservations were too long, the current arrangement simply wasn’t practical for those who just wanted to meditate.

And so, after some discussion, the Construction and Design group decided to expand the meditation garden and separate its entrance. They would be led to a wonderfully curated area with steam coming out, surrounded by related flora.

There were also waterproof but soft cushions located in certain areas, and a few high shrubs to provide some privacy between meditating people. In terms of density, they were about a meter apart, though somehow the design and arrangement made each area feel a bit bigger and more comfortable.

About a hundred people could meditate here at a time, paid for exclusively by contribution points. There was a public restroom there, but no other amenities, and the payment was on a per-entrance basis.

So, the moment they left the gates, it was assumed they were already done, and the next-in-line would occupy their spot.

This way, those who simply wanted to meditate didn’t have to wait in such a long line, especially since there were far more people who could fit in an area using this arrangement.

Of course, those who bought tickets to the hot springs would also have priority access to its meditative garden, and they had their own queue, like a priority lane.

As soon as this development was over, the area’s activity never stopped, working even at night.

Who’d have thought the development that was supposedly purely for luxury actually contributed to the territory’s overall strength?

...

Everyone was doing their parts, some improving their crafts for the further rise of Alterra, some improving their strengths, and some improving their facilities.

The private developments, like renovation of restaurants and the like, would have to wait until later, primarily because the construction and design companies had their hands full with the massive amount of ongoing construction right now in Alterra.

The spirit of growth and innovation, after all, was just incredibly prominent in the place.

There were also those who focused on going around, absorbing everything and the changes, simply observing and learning what this place was about.

For example, there was Tronie and his friend Prague, who arrived just before the Cold Wave.

They stayed in Tronie’s very, very warm penthouse unit in one of the mid-rise buildings in the inner circle.

Tronie was among the first ’NPCs’ hired by Alterra very early on and was able to purchase a unit before it got too expensive. He also had very good credit in the bank, so if he wanted, he could even pay a down payment for a new house.

This was his plan, in fact. And then he’d rent out his old condo to his friends. Hehe. The whole renting-out business was quite popular in Alterra, and everyone who had been renting out a few units was rolling in passive income.

Ah, passive income.

That concept wasn’t very common outside of Alterra. Outside, one of the only ways to gain a passive income was to have a patent under your name. But how many people could actually receive (and know to register) such a thing?

Another would be to have a share in a business, but how many businesses were there? Most were monopolized by nobles, leaving no chance to others.

In Alterra, there were so many ways to get income that he wanted to explore all of them. So far, one of the most lucrative was real estate.

Plus, the taxes in Alterra were quite humane. The taxes on owning a unit, as long as it was paid for, were very affordable, and that was about it.

In other places, even if you owned your unit, there were still so many fees and taxes that a commoner family who worked hard to buy might regret it, realizing that renting would not have been too bad.

Speaking of units, he really lived well even in the small unit. He appreciated it more when disasters happened.

He did not lack in telling his friend of how lucky he was he got to Alterra before the cold, Prague could attest to this!

He had been through two or three other extreme colds in his lifetime of a few decades, and one of those was even in a City, but he had never been this comfortable!

In those places, even if he had paid for premium accommodations and heating tools, he was not as comfortable! At the time, he just felt fortunate that he was warm enough.

Here, not only enjoyed the warm room, but he also did not lack delicious food, and most importantly—hot cocoa!! Especially with the floating marshmallows!

Someone even thought to combine cotton candy, place marshmallows inside, and then, when the cotton ball was placed on the cocoa cup, it melted in a fascinating way.

He was so addicted that he probably consumed 10 cups a day.

Hot cocoa was but one of the few things that Prague had discovered and got fond of in the Town. Now, he could really not live without it!
