Chapter 1872: Training Babies? (Part 1)

Speaking of children, they were now slowly being trained to use their powers. Since it was inevitable, it was better to let them have control.

Other than what they had observed, they actually got Grandmaster Zenno to help out to get more information. Just in case, he did not disclose that the ’subjects’ were her children, just that he encountered curious children during his travels.

To keep it a little less shocking, he apparently said they were just below 12 years old, so it was still remarkable, but nothing close to the youngest prince.

Speaking of the youngest Prince, while Zenno could not disclose the details of his state due to an oath, they could infer a few things.

Anyway, that child also seemed quite special. He was only a few years old and could already handle one of his elements. And the child had the potential for three elements: Blue fire, electricity, and wind.

Someday, Althea and Garan hoped to talk with the child’s parents themselves. They might contact them directly someday, when they confirm they really could be trusted with the children’s secret.

Anyway, they used the main bunker for training. Outside of disasters, the place was empty. People just maintained it once a week, and then replaced the stocks as needed (so the items there wouldn’t expire on them without anyone noticing). This was also to ensure that the stockpile would always be able to feed a group of people for at least a month.

For now, they were taking advantage of its covered location and its massive open space for the children to practice in without exposing themselves to outsiders.

More importantly, this was so they could use their powers without putting themselves in danger. Their powers had such potential to be dangerous; it was understandable how Harold was growing white hair again despite increasing levels.

Anyway, in the main bunker, it was safer because it was mostly open space with high ceilings. There would be no beams, ceilings, plenums, or hidden cabinets for Pepper to hide in.

This was particularly important because lately, Pepper had found a self-directed game quite fun. The adults called it ’hide and seek and don’t show up until someone has panic attacks’.

Sometimes, she’d disappear and hide in one of the cabinets. Sometimes, she’d be on the plenum (the space between the ceiling and the floor slab above), which was particularly difficult to get to because only the babies could actually fit to crawl in there.

They would only find them when someone of a decent level would hear the gentle shuffling above their heads.

They were also in constant worry that she’d blink herself in the middle of something solid. What would they do, then?

It hadn’t happened yet, and perhaps there were in-built safety measures in that power, but parents’ brains tended to imagine the worst-case scenario and then panic like hell about it, regardless of whether it was actually ever going to happen or not.

As for Meatball, he floated a lot but also started adding weight. For example, when he disliked something, he might slap it, unconsciously using his power, and therefore using a bit of strength. If the furniture wasn’t made by a woodworker, then they could get damaged.

A baby cracking a sturdy-looking piece of wood was abnormal, no matter what.

For Pepper’s exercise, they got help from Terran Survivor #001, Galleon, who inherited a high rank blink skill from the get-go.

Pepper’s ability was too unique. Other than the superspeed aborigines, though they had not tapped them yet, Galleon was the single person who could somewhat relate to Pepper’s skill.

They got him to sign a strict oath, though it was time-limited to make sure they could make it as strict as possible. Galleon was someone many of the soldiers knew as well, so they were reassured with using him.

Anyway, by the time the contract ended in five years, they should’ve hopefully become strong enough (or at least allied with strong enough territories) to protect the children.

Galleon studied the child closely, though the softness in his eyes made it obvious he was very fond of her.

He was patient and did not force her to use her skill to observe. He simply played games with her as she wanted, moving from place to place, and he would cooperate even if he had to squat for an hour with stickers all over his face.

"Nuuu!" she exclaimed when Galleon moved the wrong doll in her massive doll house. "No gud, no gud!"

"Ah."

He was asked to put the child in bed. However, it seemed like he placed the wrong doll baby in the wrong crib. Galleon patiently corrected himself. The baby girl nodded in approval and then her attention was back to the dollhouse.

After putting all the doll children to bed, they played other things like dress up. The dress-up doll was inside Pepper’s space, and she just had to take it out.

This doll was the type with a basic doll and then there were several components or add-ons that could be velcroed on. For example, want to add a bow? Just stick it. Want to add a coat? Stick it!

It was very, very popular among little girls. It seemed like it was the go-to asked for gift whenever it was a girl’s birthday or they had something else to celebrate.

This was made by another start-up invested in by Baron.

The number of taxpayers indirectly raised by this guy was really innumerable.

Althea wondered if she could help him with the one thing he desired the most: a proper love life.

Anyway, at some point, Baby Pepper left one of the velcro add-ons in an area they had occupied before and blinked there.

Galleon stared. That skill was quite different from his. For one, he could only go up to 3 meters away. And if one compared, in his case, it was more like he was jumping from one spot to another spot.

He was also limited to that skill. This baby was not.

At the same time, he also felt looking forward to it. He wondered how much potential this skill could reach.
