After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 516 - 202: The Embrace from the Little Mare_3
"Who exactly are you?" the Pestilence Witch’s expression became grave, "A human with strength like yours shouldn’t be able to resist my power!"
"A follower of the Goddess of Plague," Xi Mu casually explained, "I am blessed by the Goddess of Plague, impervious to any disease."
He walked towards the door.
"I am here on the command of the Goddess of Plague, to guide you in growing strong enough to become the Goddess of Plague’s companion."
The tense expression on the Pestilence Witch’s face relaxed, thinking the blessing of the Goddess of Plague made sense.
She followed Xi Mu’s steps.
"Human, you say the Goddess of Plague wishes for me to become her companion?"
"Indeed," Xi Mu replied, "The world is about to enter Ragnarok, and the Goddess of Plague plans to find a witch whose power matches her own to be her companion. You are the chosen witch."
A very logical choice.
In DLC content, there indeed were cases of gods and demons becoming companions, both to combat Ragnarok and to strengthen their own powers. However, companionships were extremely rare; after reaching demonhood, one usually had their own distinct path and seldom followed in the footsteps of others.
Even though their paths were very similar.
"Has the Goddess of Plague reached the point where she’d find any companion?" The Pestilence Witch frowned, "But I don’t want to be the companion of a goddess. If possible, I’d like to find someone... more handsome."
Xi Mu pretended not to hear, continuing on his own, "To confirm whether you are qualified to be the goddess’s companion, you’ll have to complete several trials."
The Pestilence Witch pursed her lips and waved her hand in front of Xi Mu, "Did you hear what I said? I don’t want to become the goddess’s companion."
"The first trial you need to complete is to catch the world’s fastest horse—Sneapnir. If you can’t even do this, it signals you lack potential," Xi Mu carried on regardless, smiling at the Pestilence Witch.
"Then the blessing of the God of Omniscience will be retracted." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Pestilence Witch: "..."
The blessing from the God of Omniscience was indeed with her, the proof that her soul could leave Hell. If she were to lose this blessing, she wouldn’t be eligible to seek resurrection from the Goddess of Life; if killed, she’d truly die. This time, there would be no one to save her.
"What is the second trial?" She asked subconsciously, only to see Xi Mu raise his hand and point to his own face.
"A fight to the death with me. If you can win, you pass," he said.
The Pestilence Witch’s gaze turned distinctly colder, "Are you sure?"
"Let’s focus on the first trial first," Xi Mu said, and left the town with the Pestilence Witch.
...
The Oak Woods.
Legends tell of a beautiful goddess living in the Oak Woods, riding a white horse with a single horn, enjoying the thrill of the hunt, and occasionally gifting her prey to hunters she met.
But all that was a story spun by hunters over drinks.
However, one thing in the story did exist: the Oak Woods truly housed a notable horse... no, a divine steed, to be precise.
"How are you holding up, Witch?" Xi Mu glanced at the Pestilence Witch next to him, her hands on her knees and sweat tricking down her fair legs.
"Are your legs giving out already?"
"It’s all because the Goddess of Life cut corners!" The Pestilence Witch’s long legs trembled slightly, her full chest heaving with her breaths as she gasped:
"If it were my original body, this would never happen." Her current body was crudely formed by the hand of the Goddess of Life and was only as strong as a normal human’s. She had to strengthen it herself.
Even though it wasn’t very difficult for her to improve, she still needed to be somewhat cautious, checking her bodily condition before enhancing it. Otherwise, resulting complications would be troublesome.
"Can you still catch the world’s fastest divine steed like this?" Xi Mu asked, and the Pestilence Witch’s breath became erratic from irritation.
Still, she answered.
"As long as I unleash the Kingdom of Pestilence, I can immobilize Sneapnir in an instant."
Clip-clop.
Clip-clop.
Clip-clop.
Regular hoofbeats approached slowly. In the distance, an eight-legged horse strode across the lake towards them.
Their eyes met.
The Pestilence Witch exhaled a warm breath, ready to envelop the entire Oak Woods with her kingdom in her heart.
Then,
"Ahtal!" the eight-legged horse suddenly appeared, transforming into a girl with creamy white long hair mid-way, hurling herself into the arms of the man beside her, her ample chest enveloping the man’s face, seemingly suffocating him.
Wait a second.
The Pestilence Witch’s expression froze as she turned to look at the man being embraced by the girl. What did that horse call the man?
Why was it the same name as the King of Ash?
"I thought you were going to be left in the future," the young mare’s voice was filled with excitement, clinging tightly to the man in her arms, as if she wanted to melt him into her body.
"I am still in the future, but at the same time, I am also in the past," Xi Mu explained. He didn’t resist the mare’s embrace, though it made it a bit hard for him to breathe, his nose full of her scent.
Meanwhile, the Pestilence Witch listening to the conversation had a very ugly look on her face. She recalled the Time Witch swearing that as soon as the King of Ash touched the past, he could only burn down the world. Hence, he wouldn’t consider moving back into the past until his personality was overtaken by the impulse to create, giving them time to find a way to defeat the King of Ash.
But what was with this man claiming to be the King of Ash?
