After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 524 - 206: The Woman He Regrets
Afternoon.
Bruil Street.
"Aren’t you planning to run away?" Xi Mu feigned surprise, watching the Pestilence Witch approach with swift steps. He had not restricted the Pestilence Witch’s actions nor paid excessive attention to her, but simply by understanding the character of the Pestilence Witch, one could predict her actions to some extent.
The Pestilence Witch let out a sigh of fatigue, looking at Ahtal’s inscrutable smile, and said,
"Anyway, even if I run away, you’ll catch me again, right?"
In fact, she had thought more than once about escaping, but as soon as she thought of her captor, the King of Ash who existed at the end of time, capable of turning the world into ashes at any moment, any courage she mustered inside was snuffed out.
Why had Ahtal captured her first among many resurrected demons and witches, and why had he revealed his identity as the King of Ash to her?
Such thoughts kept emerging, making her feel increasingly desperate and even more afraid to run away, fearing she would be turned into ashes instantly if she tried.
As for leaking the information about Ahtal’s descent to the past, giving former heroes preparation, she currently lacked the courage.
What if she was turned into ashes the moment she opened her mouth?
"How will you know I will catch you if you don’t try?" Xi Mu’s smile was gentle, looking at the slightly bright eyes of the Pestilence Witch, "Maybe I would choose to let you go instead of turning you into ashes immediately."
This was a threat, wasn’t it?
The Pestilence Witch’s face became expressionless, she snuffed out the glimmer of hope that had just arisen in her heart. This detestable man was definitely playing with her mind, teasing out a sliver of hope only to replace it with despair immediately.
"What exactly do you want to use me for?" she glared at the gently smiling Ahtal, asking directly what was on her mind:
"Why reveal your identity to me, yet keep it from the Monster Witch?"
"Because you know that you wouldn’t dare to spread it." Xi Mu replied, causing the Pestilence Witch’s mouth to twitch involuntarily, feeling as if her heart had been pierced by an arrow. She found herself unable to speak; this man was truly... detestable.
Xi Mu, unconcerned with the Pestilence Witch’s displeased gaze, continued to explain why he dared to reveal, "Moreover, I plan to have you do something for me."
The Pestilence Witch asked subconsciously, "What is it?"
"Inflict a disease upon Lionheart Castle," Xi Mu maintained his smile, explaining to the astonished Pestilence Witch, "It should have a long incubation period, but be fatal."
"What’s the point of that?" The Pestilence Witch asked subconsciously, only to see Ahtal keeping his smile, clearly not intending to answer her.
This man had a plan he wanted to use her for.
"After I do this, will you let me go?" She accepted Ahtal’s coercion, as inducing a long incubation disease wasn’t difficult for her.
After all, this world was going to be turned into ash in three years, so all she needed was to use a disease with an incubation period longer than three years.
And if in the future the King of Ash was defeated, she could simply cure the disease lurking within Lionheart Castle.
And if the world was turned into ash after three years,
there would be no need to cure the disease.
"Yes," Xi Mu answered immediately, "as long as you help me accomplish this, I will let you go, but if we meet again..." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The Pestilence Witch waved her hand, "Then I will not leave."
She had already guessed what Ahtal was going to say next; it was nothing more than killing her at their next meeting. But finding her was not a trivial matter for Ahtal, who could accurately pinpoint from where she would fall.
If Ahtal wanted to silence someone, he could meet with her again in the blink of an eye.
"Don’t think so ill of me." Xi Mu kept his gentle smile, "I can turn the world into ash at any time, but am I not giving you time to defeat me?"
The Pestilence Witch looked puzzled, "Why would you give us time, does it really mean anything to you?"
"To the King of Ash, it means nothing, but I am not the King of Ash." Xi Mu shook his head, speaking enigmatically.
Originally, he did not create the world directly in the Ash Kingdom mainly because there were people in the world who mattered to him. In addition, he had ample time to contemplate how to solve problems.
Now, he had another reason to consider how to establish a long-lasting set of laws — unlike the God of Omniscience who directly took over the world’s hegemony, leading to numerous flaws and causing problems for the world he created.
If he were truly to create a world using the powers of the King of Ash, he would inevitably face the extinguishing of the Primordial Fire and might even confront a being like the Time Witch, exploiting loopholes and leading to an increase in flaws in the world he created.
Hence, he was in no rush to create a new world right now.
Otherwise, he would face endless flaws to fix.

Nightfall.
Red Rose Winery.
This was a winery known for brewing wine whose color resembled the red rose. The elegant yet distinctive setting attracted many wealthy businessmen and nobles to relax during their leisure time.
"Why so glum?" the God of Beauty and Art put down her glass, looking quizzically at the black-haired girl opposite her, who was propping her face with her hands and seemed to be worrying and wondering about something at Lionheart Castle.
"Are you worried about becoming the first divine being to die?" she asked, then comforted,
"Don’t worry, we all die eventually."
"I’m not worried about being the first divine being to die," the Goddess of Plague withdrew her gaze, looking at the concerned God of Beauty and Art and explained, "A widespread fatal disease suddenly broke out in Lionheart Castle, most likely caused by the Pestilence Witch."
