After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 530 - 208: The Strongest Name_2
The Goddess of Plague nodded slightly and fed another biscuit to Ahtal.
Seeing this, Xi Mu continued, "If she assumes your identity as her avatar, she will unleash pestilence through your power, infecting countless people to become her avatars."
In the first major storyline of the DLC, the pestilence is what players progressively uncover to find the true mastermind behind it, encountering many demons and witches in the process, including the Pestilence Witch. After locking onto the Goddess of Plague through the Pestilence Witch’s abilities, they will slay the Goddess of Plague once.
However, this time the Goddess of Plague does not need to die but falls into a weakened state and, after thanking the player, returns to the high heavens to recover.
And if players are patient enough to wait, when the game progresses to the midway point, they can choose the Goddess of Plague as a companion.
We are ushering in an era free of illness.
"To possess someone’s body and gain their strength is truly a terrifying power," the Goddess of Plague commented.
There are many insurmountable abilities in this world. If one were to amalgamate them in oneself, they would essentially become an invincible being.
Nevertheless, Xi Mu shook his head:
"It’s not necessarily terrifying."
Blinking, the Goddess of Plague took another biscuit from the bag and stuffed it into Ahtal’s mouth, then listened as Ahtal explained.
"An avatar does not control too much free will and, after amassing too many consciousnesses, is dominated by the collective will," Xi Mu explained calmly. "If one were to take over the body of an omnipotent being, they would immediately be dominated by the omnipotent being, forcing them to abandon the takeover of the omnipotent body."
While avatars seem powerful at first glance, they prove to be insignificant in the face of stronger mechanisms and monsters.
However, they do qualify to play the role of a boss in the early stages of the game.
"But, if an avatar grows to become omnipotent, can it ignore the aforementioned flaws?" the Goddess of Plague asked, pushing another biscuit into Ahtal’s mouth.
"Omnipotent beings are resistant to all influences," Xi Mu shook his head, "unless it’s absolutely irresistible violence or if the omnipotent being themselves doesn’t self-destruct, there’s a chance."
"So it seems she won’t quickly become an omnipotent being," the Goddess of Plague sighed in relief, continuing to feed Ahtal another biscuit.
After eating, Xi Mu offered some useful information: 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"The Monster Witch can reach a quasi-omnipotent state by integrating the abilities of all her creations, and the Avatar Witch can do something similar by forsaking individual will and letting collective will take the lead."
"Being able to reach quasi-omnipotence is quite impressive," the Goddess of Plague assessed, "since one can indirectly reach a state of quasi-omnipotence, they can eventually reach true omnipotence."
In this world, reaching the height of omnipotence usually involves focusing on one’s single ability and developing it to such an extent that it encompasses everything else. This process doesn’t just take into account one’s own talent limitations but also the constraints of their abilities.
Some are suited to utilize their abilities in this encompassing way.
Others, however, are not, like the God of War’s powers that seem unsolvable but are always stuck at the final step. The reason being they can’t make the world view itself as their enemy or friend, thus failing to reach omnipotence.
"So she’s already a very powerful witch," Xi Mu said with a smile, looking at the Goddess of Plague beside him, "As long as she gains your power, she can create avatars on a massive scale."
The Goddess of Plague spoke fretfully, "Can it not be done without relying on my power?"
For some reason, she felt a sinister malice; being killed by Death before the Time Retrospection was understandable, but to still be pursued after the reversal was unsettling.
It felt like she was being targeted by fate.
"Of course, it’s possible without relying on your power. Remember the Pestilence Witch?" Xi Mu explained as he looked at the troubled Goddess of Plague, "Pestilence can be brought down through the Pestilence Witch’s power as well."
"Is the Pestilence Witch one of your subordinates?" The Goddess of Plague felt an ominous premonition and then saw Ahtal wave her hand dismissively, saying casually:
"The Pestilence Witch has never been my subordinate."
"I thought she was your underling," the Goddess of Plague said with disappointment in her voice.
If the Pestilence Witch had been Ahtal’s underling, the Goddess of Plague wouldn’t have to worry about the Pestilence Witch’s safety. Naturally, she also could return safely to the high heavens, preventing herself from being captured and thus averting the onset of disaster.
But if the Pestilence Witch wasn’t Ahtal’s underling, then the situation was entirely different.
"As a hero of the past, she should be my challenger," Xi Mu shook his head, "My very existence is at odds with all living beings, so she cannot possibly be my subordinate.
Goddess of Plague: "..."
"Instead of pinning your hopes on me, it’s better to make an effort yourself," Xi Mu said, propping his chin with one hand, eyes falling on the dueling field, "You could try to protect the Pestilence Witch and thereby prevent the onset of catastrophe."
"Protect the Pestilence Witch myself?" The Goddess of Plague blinked in surprise, "You really can come up with ideas that others wouldn’t think of, but it might be worth a try."
If she could protect the Pestilence Witch at close quarters, well-prepared, then perhaps the looming disaster wouldn’t occur.
Furthermore, it would give her the chance to interact with Ahtal over a long period and gain an understanding of him.
It might even lead to finding a way to prevent the world from burning to ash.
...
...
Meanwhile.
Inside a luxurious hotel.
A girl clad in an ornate Gothic-style dress drew back the curtains that shielded the window, her gaze settling in the direction of the dueling field.
"In three days, the Goddess of Plague will surely appear at the dueling field," her lips parted slightly, and her wine-red eyes were eerily calm.
"That will be the chance to capture the Goddess of Plague."
"Is the plan really without problems?" A steady male voice came from the sofa in the room. Looking through the reflection in the glass, there was a man with black short hair, dressed in a neat suit, and a thick beard.
He rested his feet on the table.
"The Goddess of Plague probably won’t come to the dueling field, right?"
"That assumes the Goddess of Plague fears death," the hand of the Avatar Witch pressed against the glass, "But if that woman has a tendency towards self-destruction and harbors the idea that only through her own death can she atone, then she won’t fear the so-called prophecy, and she might even choose to stay in Lionheart Castle."
Her voice was resolute.
"The prophecy of Hero Ahtal coming to the duel is enough to attract the Goddess of Plague."
"I hope your plan goes smoothly," the man said with a hint of regret for having met the Avatar Witch. Initially, he only wanted to watch how the Avatar Witch would capture the Goddess of Plague. Who would have thought that she’d dare to let her avatar pose as Ahtal, thus attracting the attention of the whole world, and in turn, create the chance to capture the Goddess of Plague.
Could a normal person do such a thing?
If this attracts the King of Ash from Time’s End, then all of them might be in danger.
"The King of Ash won’t care about such trivial matters," the Avatar Witch turned and explained to the man, "As long as the avatars aren’t used to approach Ahtal’s lovers, the King of Ash won’t mind."
The man fell silent and looked at the woman standing before the window. Her black hair was tied into twin ponytails resting on her shoulders, her waist so delicate it seemed it could be broken with little effort, and her skin so pale it appeared never to have seen sunlight.
From the outside, she looked like an elegant noble lady, but in reality, she gave off an extremely dangerous and insane vibe.
He certainly did not want to get too close to such a dangerous woman.
"Dispose of the Ahtal avatar afterwards."
"I don’t need to dispose of that avatar myself," said the Avatar Witch, and then she turned into a shadow and disappeared on the spot.
Seeing this, the man twitched his mouth, contemplating fleeing.
This woman was even more abnormal than he had anticipated, and while it was true that witches were more or less not quite normal, the Avatar Witch was especially so.
Yet, as the Demon of Drama, he looked forward to this abnormal development with anticipation.
"What will the world be like in three days."
