After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 576 - 230 Maid Service_3
"Come, accompany me to wander through this apocalypse." Xi Mu led the little mare and began to roam amidst the end times.
A while later.
In the simulated world of the Iris Flower Kingdom.
The once impoverished and backward nation had taken on a new appearance, enveloped by towering walls. Inside these walls was a city built entirely from gears and metal, its original residents having shed the restrictions of flesh, transforming into bodies of Alchemical Puppets.
"Outsiders?" A villager, whose limbs bore evident mechanical joints and whose neck faintly revealed metallic wiring, stepped out from a house.
He cast a surprised glance at the man and woman outside the door, gracefully removed his bowler hat, and bowed to them.
"Are you here to escape the limitations of flesh too?"
"Escape the limitations of flesh?" Sleipnir asked in confusion, only to see the man smile and invite the two into the house, offering a simple explanation along the way.
"You must be newcomers to the dream, I presume?"
"Indeed." Sleipnir nodded. She and Ahtal had just entered the dream and knew almost nothing about this world—or more accurately, about herself in relation to the simulated world’s happenings. With Ahtal’s abilities, if they wished to understand, they could easily grasp every detail about what was occurring within the simulated world.
"At the start of the dream in this world, people thought of working together to come up with a method to defeat the King of Ash, but soon realized something was amiss." The man gestured for them to sit down and poured two cups of coffee.
He clasped his hands together and sank into reminiscence.
"Those witches and demons had no intention of cooperating from the very beginning. They acted willfully, each adhering to their own ideologies, dragging us ordinary folk into the conflicts. Apart from a few lucky survivors, some of us managed to obtain blessings from witches or demons."
At this point, he detached his arm and casually waved it about.
"Most people have already died; otherwise, we’ve ended up in this state—half human, half ghost."
"If you don’t want to experience this world, you could also choose to quit, couldn’t you?" Sleipnir asked. Though staying in this world for ten years was mandatory, if they were to die, forced withdrawal could presumably be possible.
In response, the man reattached his arm, then clenched his fist: "Though this world is utterly terrible, it still has some benefits. We can actively engage with different demons or witches, understand their savior ideologies, and even receive their bestowed powers, obtaining abilities that were previously unimaginable."
Sleipnir frowned: "Even if your body becomes like this?"
She couldn’t fathom why one would transform their life form into an Alchemical Puppet. A body crafted by alchemy couldn’t possibly surpass the flesh in superiority, in her eyes. A single kick would likely reduce them to scrap metal.
"Is becoming like this truly bad?" The man shook his head, rotated his head in a full 360-degree turn, and then revealed a proud smile, "Compared to those who’ve taken power from Monster Witches, we are much better suited for survival in the apocalypse."
He raised a finger.
"To survive in this world, one must accept transformation from witches or demons, altering one’s life form in order to adapt."
"Through the powers of beings like the Alchemical Witch, Memory Demon, Monster Witch, or Earth Demon, our very being can transform into a new form of life, allowing us to adapt to this world."
"As for me, I have accepted the Alchemical Witch’s power, embedding my soul into an Alchemical Puppet to gain the power necessary for surviving the apocalypse."
Sleipnir instinctively asked, "What about the life forms from other demons and witches?"
The man chuckled softly and kindly offered an explanation:
"The Memory Demon transforms one’s life form into memory, existing within humanity’s collective consciousness, completely free of physical constraints. The Monster Witch, on the other hand, changes people into various types of monsters. As for the Earth Demon, it turns individuals into elemental beings, surviving by directly assimilating the elemental energy of the earth."
At this point, he added a final note.
"Of course, these are just the more mainstream transformations of life forms. You could still choose to become... corpses—or invoke the power of the ’King of Ash’."
