After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 603 - 242: The Hero Belonging to Her_2
"He’s just joking." The white-haired Lolita softly explained, cradling Ahtal in her arms, her delicate face flushed. "Though there is indeed an age gap, his mental maturity far surpasses mine."
"If the two of you are dragons," the noblewoman shook her head hurriedly, "then it would be too narrow-minded to evaluate this using human values."
"At five hundred years old, one can already marry among the Dragon Clan." The white-haired Lolita softly clarified. Due to the Dragon Clan’s extremely scarce population, the age for marriage was significantly lowered. At five hundred, one might not be permitted to drink, but marriage was allowed.
Hearing this, the noblewoman nodded slightly, gave Ahtal a meaningful glance, apologized softly, and then departed in a hurry.
She was merely a noblewoman returning from a trip to the human world and didn’t fully grasp the ways of the Dragon Kingdom. Thus, she subconsciously applied human ideas to the Dragon Kingdom, never expecting that a five-hundred-year-old dragon could fall in love with one barely a hundred years old.
As the white-haired Lolita watched the noblewoman leave, she pinched Ahtal’s cheek in dissatisfaction. This man still found time to play pranks in such a situation.
"Don’t say things that so easily lead to misunderstandings."
"You mean about being a couple?" Xi Mu asked in return, only for the white-haired Lolita to pinch his cheek more firmly in displeasure.
Xi Mu did not resist, calmly observing the pouty expression on the white-haired Lolita’s face.
"Forget it, a couple it is then." The white-haired Lolita turned her head away and set the miniature Ahtal down.
Xi Mu then returned to his original form. Together, he and the white-haired Lolita continued selecting ingredients for dinner, walking for quite some time before finishing their shopping and heading toward the white-haired Lolita’s current residence.
It was a castle perched on a seaside cliff. The setting sun bathed the castle in light, and two giant white dragons stood guard before the grand entrance.
"What a luxurious lifestyle," Xi Mu remarked as he stood before the castle gates, marveling at its value. Combined with the two dragon sentinels, it could easily purchase the Iris Flower Kingdom—or even destroy it with a single dragon’s might.
In this world, the power dynamics between nations were exceedingly imbalanced, so much so that one could question if they even belonged to the same civilization.
"If you wanted, you could live in the Golden Temple of the God of Omniscience," the white-haired Lolita commented as she led Xi Mu through the castle gates. "Hiring a couple of powerful gods to guard the doors should be no trouble for someone like you."
Xi Mu thought for a moment and replied, "Might be worth trying one day."
As they spoke, a graceful woman in a backless evening gown approached from the distance. Her elegant disposition and gentle aura were striking. Her long white hair cascaded down to her waist, and her moving, shapely legs, hidden beneath her gown, revealed alluring lines as she walked.
"What an unexpected guest," Yijelika said, her lips curling into a soft smile. Her gaze first lingered on her daughter before shifting to Ahtal. "The only person Evelyn could be so close with must be her hero."
Evelyn’s feelings for Ahtal were akin to the classic tale of the distressed princess finding her destined hero. Their romance was not only beautiful but also intriguing—this was the man who had braved Hell itself to reclaim her soul.
Even the coldest, most reserved young woman would find her heart moved.
"I don’t deserve the title of hero," Xi Mu said with a shake of his head. Yijelika, hearing this, fixed her deep gaze on the man before her and then smiled warmly.
"To Evelyn, you are her hero." With those words, she approached them and glanced at the bags Ahtal carried. "You’ve brought so many ingredients—are you planning to stay for dinner tonight?"
As she spoke, she extended a delicate hand, intending to take the bags.
Xi Mu shook his head and handed the bags over to the white-haired Lolita instead. He explained to Yijelika, "Tonight’s chef is Evelyn. Madam, you and I can simply wait for the Dragon Princess’s hand-crafted dinner."
Yijelika hesitated briefly, then looked toward Evelyn with a bemused expression. "Are you sure you don’t need your mother’s help with this?"
Evelyn hesitated for a moment before smiling. "Mother, I can handle it."
Thanks to the Dragon Kingdom’s educational system, Evelyn’s grades were always exemplary. Although her cooking might not surpass her mother’s, she wasn’t incapable without her support.
Seeing this, Yijelika studied the two of them for a moment before showing a maternal smile. "Ah, I see... so this is for someone you admire, isn’t it?"
The white-haired Lolita said nothing as she carried the bag of ingredients away.
"Lord Ahtal, please follow me." Yijelika turned, her bare back exposed as she led Ahtal to the rooftop of the castle to wait for her daughter to finish preparing dinner.
The rooftop.
The golden rays of the setting sun filtered through the clouds and shone on Yijelika as she stood by the railing, staring out at the endless sea.
Half-submerged in the ocean, the sunset painted the waters in a beautiful golden hue.
"Lord Ahtal, how long do you plan to stay here?" she asked the man beside her. The world-burning man hesitated briefly and then replied, "I might stay for a few days."
"A few days are but a blink of an eye to a dragon," Yijelika said with a faint smile. She softly continued, "She wishes to stay by your side forever."
"Perhaps the Witch of Death has a way to survive Ragnarok, if given enough time," Xi Mu offered, indirectly granting hope.
The process of burning the world to ash involved destroying everything old. If the old world was seen as death, then the Witch of Death’s plans revolved around sneaking into the rebirth of a new world by hiding within that demise.
In theory, her plan was feasible.
However, this required his passive cooperation. It also demanded he grant her ample time for research and, crucially, the collection of all souls in the world into her deathly domain.
Otherwise, even the Witch of Death couldn’t smuggle everyone into the new world.
"The Witch of Death is truly remarkable," Yijelika sincerely praised. The more she learned of the Witch of Death, the more impressed she became. Not only had the Witch of Death survived opposition from the God of Omniscience, but at the end of time itself, she also had the favor of the King of Ash.
Now, the King of Ash had even personally acknowledged her potential to carry all beings into a new world.
These endless impossibilities had all become tangible realities in her hands.
"If I hadn’t become the King of Ash," Xi Mu chuckled, "perhaps the Witch of Death would already have seized control of the world."
Yijelika gently tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and mused, "If you hadn’t become the King of Ash, would you have become her partner instead?"
"At that time, I already had a partner," Xi Mu replied, shaking his head. Yijelika blinked and placed a hand over her chest, suggesting, "Partnerships can be dissolved, can’t they?"
From her perspective, choosing the Witch of Death as a partner was a far superior option compared to, say, a horse. After all, the Witch of Death was heralded as the greatest witch in history, unparalleled in both intellect and beauty.
"The important thing in a partnership is to keep stride," Xi Mu remarked, turning his back as if disinterested in further discussing partnerships.
Yijelika didn’t press the matter. Instead, she struck up a lighthearted conversation with Ahtal, reminiscing about stories from Evelyn’s childhood. As the sun neared the horizon, she sighed wistfully, "Wouldn’t it be wonderful to dine together beneath the sunset? But time..."
Before she could finish, the sun, which had been dipping below the ocean, began to rise anew, as though time itself were moving backward. Yet this wasn’t an act of temporal manipulation.
Rather, an even greater being had adjusted the sun’s celestial trajectory.
"In that case, let the sun stand still." Xi Mu turned with a smile to see the white-haired Lolita, dressed as a cook, carrying a bowl of hot soup toward them, followed by several Dragon Maids.
Yijelika gazed at the unnaturally rising sun, a sense of indescribable awe washing over her. She hadn’t imagined that her casual remark would spur Ahtal to interfere with the very orbit of the sun.
Truly an extraordinary man. She could hardly imagine what the Sun God might think of this.
