After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 621 - 250: The End
"Who... are you?" The Goddess of Life instinctively stepped back, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. She sensed danger, a danger that seemed to completely negate her existence, as though this strange man could utterly consume her being.
This man was the enemy of all life.
"You retained no memory of the future?" Xi Mu nodded gently, his tone exceptionally mild. Theoretically, any being that reached the omnipotent level would not lose their memory under temporal interference. However, if the past and future overlapped, the future could choose whether or not to synchronize its memories with the past.
It appeared that the Goddess of Life, who dwelled within the Death from Death Realm, had no intention of synchronizing her memories with the past; otherwise, her very existence would detach from the Death from Death Realm and manifest in the current reality.
This would not only force the Goddess of Life to kill herself once, but also require the Witch of Death to spend an extensive amount of time readjusting the kingdom of Death from Death.
However, this did not mean the Goddess of Life and her past self would become independent entities. Everything that occurred in the past would still feedback into the future version of the Goddess of Life.
The past and future were in a state of overlap.
"You’ve returned from the future?" The Goddess of Life suddenly asked with curiosity, raising her hand gently to press it against her ample chest, resembling a timid yet inquisitive kitten, evoking a sense of endearment.
"To be more precise, I’ve returned from the end of time." Xi Mu spoke without concealment, explaining his reason for coming. "Originally, I was supposed to continue moving towards a distant past, but..."
Before finishing his sentence, he abruptly stopped.
The Goddess of Life gazed at him with curiosity, though she chose not to press further. Instead, she followed his gaze and saw a humanoid figure seemingly woven from radiant light appear behind her.
"The God of Answering Questions." Xi Mu suddenly spoke, as if explaining to the Goddess of Life. "He is the first god and also the last god, a supreme entity that knows all hidden secrets of the world."
"Merely a prisoner of the world." The God of Omniscience’s voice was calm and devoid of emotion. After a fleeting glance at the Goddess of Life, his indifferent gaze withdrew.
Yet the Goddess of Life’s expression turned uneasy from that look. She realized the vast disparity in strength between her and the God of Omniscience. Although they were both gods, their forms of existence were entirely different.
However, she quickly composed herself.
"Does even the God of Omniscience exhibit modesty?" A gentle male voice came from nearby. The Goddess of Life then felt her hand being lightly grasped, the warmth and strength of the grip instilling a profound sense of comfort.
Turning her head, she saw the man claiming to have returned from the end of time smiling at her, as if hinting for her not to worry.
It seemed she and this man shared some acquaintance.
"In the future, you sheltered me; now, I shall shelter you." Xi Mu said earnestly, further convincing the Goddess of Life that they must indeed have a connection in the future.
Not far away, the God of Omniscience witnessed this scene in silence, merely turning away as his surroundings transformed.
Xi Mu surveyed the area. He now stood within what appeared to be a temple forged of gold, where the original chosen ones knelt all around.
Behind both him and the God of Omniscience stood an empty divine throne.
"I originally had no intention of meeting you." Xi Mu spoke as he sat on one of the thrones. The Goddess of Life instinctively looked around, searching for her place, only to find there were merely two thrones present.
Soon, however, searching for a seat was no longer a concern. The man holding her hand tugged lightly, pulling her to sit on his lap.
Something felt amiss.
The Goddess of Life was acutely aware that sitting on this man’s lap was inappropriate, yet the solemn atmosphere made standing equally unsuitable.
After a moment’s hesitation, she chose to accept the situation.
"It was I who decided to meet you." The God of Omniscience spoke calmly, seemingly indifferent to the King of Ash taking advantage by holding the Goddess of Life. From the god’s perspective, it wasn’t an unusual sight, as Ahtal was a human ascended to the King of Ash; retaining human desires was perfectly natural.
"Your reason?" Xi Mu asked. He was perhaps the one who understood the God of Omniscience most thoroughly in this world, aware that the god wouldn’t act without purpose.
The God of Omniscience possessed the power of answering, allowing the full realization of its potential. This meant... precision. If the God of Omniscience deemed something impossible, then it was, in effect, impossible.
Therefore, the God of Omniscience would not attempt things deemed unachievable.
"I’ve comprehended your Genesis Prologue." The God of Omniscience replied. "I wish to provide you with the optimized version of the Genesis Prologue for use."
"The Genesis Prologue concerns the survival of my Creation World." Xi Mu pinched the bridge of his nose. "Do you believe I should trust my enemy?"
The God of Omniscience calmly countered, "Do you regard me as an enemy?"
Xi Mu answered without hesitation, "No."
Indeed, he didn’t perceive the God of Omniscience as his enemy. Though Xi Mu had killed the God of Omniscience to achieve his own goals, he neither disliked nor hated the god, and certainly didn’t see him as an adversary.
Their conflict arose solely from their opposing stances, resulting in clashes between them.
"So, will you accept my optimized Genesis Prologue?" The God of Omniscience asked calmly. He harbored no hostility toward the King of Ash; he simply sought to fulfill his divine duty by ensuring his chosen ones could survive within a more stable world.
