After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 63 - 37 Volcano Temple
"Clack~" Xi Mu tossed a piece of wood into the fire, the flickering flames casting shadows that merged his and Letixia’s together.
The heavy rain outside had stopped.
"I’m sorry for making you worry," Letixia turned to look at the silver-clad Knight seated beside her, the firelight reflected on his face giving a sense of reliable comfort.
Xi Mu shook his head, his voice steady and gentle, "Considering you only now broke into tears, you’ve been incredibly strong."
He was speaking the truth. Anyone who went through what Letixia had would likely feel a strong urge to cry, especially after the recent loss of her father and having to raise her hand against her own sister.
Her family and life as she knew it had crumbled completely that day.
It would be difficult for anyone to keep it together.
To him, Letixia’s tears were a good sign, indicating that her defenses were down at this moment.
Following the normal route with Letixia would have involved winning her over step by step until her affection reached the maximum level and then entering into a marital contract with her, only then gaining the authorization to use the Sword of Light.
Yes, wielding the Sword of Light wasn’t as simple as just obtaining it; it required a blood pact with Letixia, circumventing the rule that only those of the iris flower royal bloodline could wield the Sword of Light.
However, to form the blood pact, it was necessary for Letixia to have a high degree of trust in the player, believing them to be an honorable person who would never use the Sword of Light to unseal the Flame Giant Surter, which would result in the world burning to ashes.
Furthermore, it required entering into the hall of matrimony with Letixia, who would then reveal to the player that it was possible to indirectly wield the Sword of Light through the blood pact.
But since his goal was to speedrun the Mysterious Gate game, he couldn’t just faithfully court Letixia and progress to a marriage which wouldn’t even culminate in a kiss.
There was a way to quickly obtain the Sword of Light by maxing out Letixia’s affection, then creating a scenario where she had no choice but to reveal the blood pact.
"Maybe I’m not as strong as I appear," Letixia gently shook her head, then smiled softly, her emerald eyes still sad but much brighter.
"But I feel much better now, so please don’t worry about me."
"Is that so?" Xi Mu appeared somewhat skeptical, observing Letixia’s smiling face but seeming to believe her words.
"What do we do now?" He broached the subject of their next move. Despite the moment being ripe for further intimacy, his approach seemed oddly out of touch.
But Letixia appeared to be just as clueless about the mood, her focus instantly shifting as she pondered and said:
"Reinforcements from Sky City won’t be able to reach us until tomorrow at the earliest, and given Ashliya’s craziness, she will surely try everything to force me out."
"Unless we acquire decisive power as quickly as possible."
Xi Mu nodded and replied, "You’re talking about that divine sword, right?"
"More precisely, the Sword of Light," Letixia’s gaze fell on the fire, her emerald eyes as if flames were burning within them, her voice taking on a distant tone.
"That was the weapon used by the Flame Giant Surter, invincible against the All Gods, until our ancestor used his abilities to steal the Sword of Light. That left the Flame Giant Surter greatly weakened, stripped of his weapon and thus allowing the Gods to seize the opportunity and seal him away in the underworld forever."
She raises her hand to lightly brush her golden, sandy hair behind her ear.
"And to honor our ancestor’s deeds, the All Gods generously bestowed the Sword of Light upon him, also placing upon it a triple enchantment: no one but a descendant may wield it; no one but the pure of heart may wield it; and no one but those favored by the Gods may wield it."
Xi Mu showed an expression of realization: "No wonder your sister can’t wield the Sword of Light."
Letixia fell silent for a moment, reminded of her sister Ashliya’s madness. She used to think her sister couldn’t use the Sword of Light because she wasn’t favored by the Gods, but now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
Nevertheless, she didn’t want to discuss Ashliya’s character.
"I found out from my sister that the Sword of Light is sealed at the altar in the temple. If we find the opportunity to draw the Sword of Light, we could turn the tides of battle."
"The temple must be heavily guarded, sneaking in... would be very difficult," Xi Mu considered for a moment, looking earnestly at Letixia’s delicate face. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"If it were just me, I could attempt to infiltrate the temple," he watched as Letixia’s lips parted, as if anticipating his words, he added another sentence.
"If you came along, it would only increase the risk of exposure, and that would make it impossible to steal the Sword of Light."
Letixia: "..."
Even though she knew Ahtal was right, hearing such blunt words was still disheartening.
Letixia was well aware that her stealth abilities were nowhere near as good as Ahtal’s, and she had no intention of stubbornly insisting that she wouldn’t hold him back.
War was no child’s play, and there was no room for whims.
"Then it’s decided," Xi Mu stood up, apparently planning to leave the dilapidated house to carry out the plan, but Letixia, seeing this, grabbed Xi Mu’s hand as he was about to leave.
She took a deep breath, her emerald eyes serious.
"Ahtal, do you... know what a blood pact is?"
Xi Mu asked in confusion, "Blood pact?"
"Yes, a very intimate ritual, usually used when lovers marry," Letixia’s voice faded, "Once you complete this ritual, you’d be able to temporarily bypass the restriction of lineage and wield the Sword of Light."
