Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Recordings

Brand stretched Bob’s mouth while muttering. "I want you to have the same sweet smile I have."

"Do you know where I learn this from?" He asked the two idiots. But they didn’t make a sound.

No. They couldn’t.

A small, black beetle was wedged inside their mouth respectively. It was gripping the edge of their tongue with its tiny pincers. Its legs thrashed wildly, sending a peculiar mix of disgust and dread into their mind.

"Seriously... where do you learn this..." Seraphine looks disturbed while looking at him. "Seraphim didn’t do it to this extent..."

"I got worse than this... My bones were crushed, finger by finger, until I went numb." Brand argued, shivering, as he shook his head to escape the reminiscence.

He then slowly inserted his finger into the traitor’s shoulder. "What’s your name again?"

"B...bo-" Before the traitor could continue, Brand had already gagged his mouth. "Too slow."

—ARGHHH

Then he looked at Gareth beside him. "You?"

"I’m Gareth!" The outsider answered swiftly.

"Good, you need to learn from him." He shook Bob’s head back and forth, not giving him a moment to rest.

"Who are you?" He asked the traitor in his hand coldly.

"Bob!"

"Full name." He slapped the traitor’s face.

"Bob Sander!"

"From?"

"Sindria!"

He then pierced the traitor’s leg. "Your real name. Your real origin."

He did not say anything else, waited for a second, and pierced his leg again.

"Ben Sandro..."

He pierced again, but this time Ben-or-Bob didn’t reply to him. He had passed out from the shock.

"Pitiful." Brand complained at the sight of the outsider. This was only one per cent of what he went through in the chamber.

"Urghhh..." Seraphim pressed her temple. "You might be falling into deprivation if you went further into this development."

"What do you mean by that?" Brand asked. This was the first time he heard this.

"The devil might contact you if you continue," Seraphine replied, without her playfulness. She seemed genuinely worried.

"But I had to get the information from them." He leaned closer to Seraphine and whispered.

"Yea..." Seraphine couldn’t deny that, but she seemed to be in deep thought.

Brand let her have her time and continued with the interrogation.

’Is it time to ask the main thing?’

’What are they trying to achieve in this Den? Why did they hurt Eddy’s team? What do they want from Ed’s team?’

Brand could somehow guess that the answer would be connected to the Worm Statue. And if the Worm Statue was in question, then naturally, the rift gate would come into the picture as well.

’What do they want to do with the rift gate?’

This was the ultimatum question Brand was heading towards.

"Ben and Not-Gareth. Let’s work this out together slowly." Brand addressed the two outsiders. "We have a lot of time."

The two outsiders in his eyes were shaking in fear, with their mouths gagged by the beetles.

[Mission: Extract Information from the Two Outsiders.]

[Complete. Reward: +1 INT]

Brand held the slim metal in his hand, which he had just retrieved from the two outsiders. They were using this device to record their battle earlier.

No, it was even earlier than that. It started when they entered the den, the first wave.

This was like a sort of body cam? Except that it was very small, almost unnoticeable. It was after hours of gruelling sessions with these two outsiders that he had his hand on it.

He even managed to get them to spill the details on how to use the body cam. It was more advanced than the technology on Earth, with more functions.

"Speak up. How do you enlarge it?" Brand poked one of them in the face. At this point, he couldn’t recognise them anymore, so he didn’t waste his time confirming their name.

The guy couldn’t look at his eyes. He seemed to have no strength to speak anymore. Seeing this as his unwillingness to cooperate, Brand ordered his beetle to claw at his stomach.

The guy in front of him let out a short groan and pointed at the corner of the device, and made a few tapping motions.

Brand followed his gestures, and it works!

The device had expanded in size so that he could see the image shown on the screen.

"Hmm, there was not only the footage of the raid." Brand noticed as he started to scroll past the previous footage.

There was more footage of the village as he browsed through it. And the reason they took so much footage?

"You guys were really preparing for it thoroughly, huh?" Brand poked at the kneeling outsiders, but never bothered to listen to anything more from them.

He had heard enough.

’I had to let Karl and the others know, but let’s check on Ruby first.’

"I should wrap up the things here already. The other side had finished." Karl and Eddy’s team were starting to move towards them, but their speed was slow, as many had suffered injuries.

He mingled the three orbs in his hand, examining them. Earlier, he had tested one of them, and the effect was surprising.

"These orbs... no, bombs." Brand punched them in the face and said coldly. "You used them on Eddy’s team, right?"

He put the two outsiders together, on top of each other, and shoved the orb in between them. He then weaved his energy into the orbs while pushing their body tight together.

He decided not to say anything more, though the devices do not seem to be able to transmit information to the outside.

"As I told you earlier, the Demon Realm was cut off from the human world, and even these devices couldn’t break the rule," Seraphine reassured him.

"However, you are able to break this rule." Seraphine looked at him with an intrigued gaze.

"That was what Seraphim said as well," Brand replied, as he could still check the well-being of his beetles that had been stationed in the village and oasis.

’Even though I couldn’t share vision like I usually do, I can feel they are still alive.’

"Goodbye." He bid his farewell to the two outsiders.
